"Our baby died on prom night, and nothing was ever the same again."

Corabelle doesn’t feel like any of the other college girls. On what should have been one of the happiest nights of her life, she and her boyfriend Gavin watched a nurse disconnect the ventilator from their seven-day-old baby. During the funeral two days later, Gavin walked out and never returned.

Since then, her life has been a spiral of disasters. The only thing that has helped is her ability to black out whenever the pain gets too hard to bear, a habit that has become an addiction.

When Gavin shows up in her astronomy class four years later, he is hell-bent on getting her back, insisting she forgive him. Corabelle knows she can’t resist the touch that fills the empty ache that has haunted her since he left. But if he learns what she has done, if he follows the trail back through her past, her secrets will destroy their love completely. And once again, she’ll lose the only person who always believed she was innocent.

My Review:

"Our baby died on prom night, and nothing was ever the same again."

I really enjoyed reading Forever Innocent, it's definitely a story of hope and new beginnings. Deanna Roy does a marvelous job describing the struggles that both Corabelle and Gavin go through while trying to cope with the death of their baby.

Losing their seven-day old baby wasn't easy for them to take, both of them were young when everything happened and right after the funeral, Gavin walked out on Corabelle, leaving her behind to pick up the pieces while he destroyed his future. Now four years later, they are reunited in San Diego California when they both decide to take astronomy at UCSD. Corabelle was not expecting to see Gavin again, after all those years of spiraling events happening to her, she never expected to see the guy she ever loved in her class again. She feels angry to see him and blames him for leaving her alone to deal with Finn's death.

At the same time, Gavin is equally shocked to see Corabelle in the same class. After all those years trying to forget and move on. He finds himself thinking back at all the memories that they both had before the death of their son. He also finds himself wanting her again after everything that happened, and this time around he is determined to get her back.

They both hide secrets that could potentially hurt one another, and it is because of these secrets that they can't seem to move on from their past. They both haven't forgiving themselves of happened to their son and as they start to spend time together did they see just how much they are in need of each other to move on. After reading this book, I felt connected with the characters and their struggles. They go through emotional roller coasters that made them stronger, and both grow to accept the past and hope for a better future. Overall, the story was beautifully written, and the setting was just perfect. I'm not just saying that because I've been to UCSD, but because it really fits. Everything comes full circle in the end and although there is going to be a sequel to this book, I didn't feel that their was a cliffhanger at the end. It just ends with a sign of hope and a new future for them. I recommend everyone to give this book a try, it has a good message behind it that will leave you wanting for more.

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

*A copy of this book was provided by Netgalley*

I was actually really excited when I saw the cover of the book, it got me to want to read it ASAP! Lash ended up being an exciting book to read and I can't wait to read the second book.

The story was unique, something that I've never read before. It definitely stood out from all of the YA angel books that I've read before. The characters are very well developed in the story that there is only room to appreciate the plot. After being banished from Heaven, Lash is on the mission to do anything in his power to be able to go back home. His mission really starts when he is set out to protect Naomi Duran, but what he doesn't know is that his faith is tested in this mission and courage. Being the rebel one is not always easy, especially when his mistakes caught up with him later on in the story. He will have to learn how to complete his mission and protect the girl he loves.

Naomi was always told that she was special, but she never expected to be in the middle of a battle between the good angels and the fallen, who have sided with Lucifer. Now she'll have fight to protect those she loves and find the true meaning behind her mark.

I love how the story is set up, like I mentioned before, the plot is unique and exciting. I loved the chemistry between Lash and Naomi. They fit so well together and Lash is funny. He is the rebel anyone can literally fall in love with! On the contrary, Naomi is independent yet sometimes too stubborn for her own good. I also like how the book is written, I like mix of Spanish words in the book. It made it that much more exciting to read. Overall, the book was great and enjoyable. I would recommend everyone to give it a try, you will not regret it.

Of course she figures the gorgeous womanizing venture capitalist Will is the best person to help mentor her in this new field of study: dating.

Will takes on the challenge with more than a healthy dose of skepticism and humor, but soon finds that Ziggy just needed a tiny push, not a world of change, to reveal a woman every man seems to notice. Soon “Ziggy” is gone and the unfiltered, innocently seductive Hanna Bergstrom is hijacking his dreams, his moods, and even his orderly no-strings-attached dating life—beginning the night his mentoring activities move between the sheets.

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

First of all, I really like the cover of this book, it fits the story very well. The cover was what got me to read the book and it didn't disappoint. It had everything that I like in a paranormal/fantasy book, from suspense to really hot guys. This book definitely made it to my favorite's list.

When Emma Wise survives a terrible car crash, she is whisked away to Alaska to live with her Aunt. Filled with grieve over the death of her parents, she doesn't realize that her life was going to change forever after that. After arriving to Alaska, Emma is filled with more questions than answers when finds herself dealing with strange events. For once, she feels lost and doesn't know what to do, especially when she finds herself drawn to Kade, her escort/guardian. When a series of events happen to her and those around her, she discovers that her car accident may have been intentional after all and that someone clearly wants her dead. Now it's up to her to find out what she is and why would someone want her dead.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It had great elements to a good paranormal story. It started with a slow pace and then it felt too rushed to me. There isn't a lot of character development, other than discovering things about Emma's origins. The story itself was good, but it could have been much better had the author kept it at a solid pace. What I really like was the chemistry between the characters, they all have very distinct personalities that made me laugh and feel for them. Kade's personality was my favorite, mainly because he spends a lot more time with Emma and he cares about her more than anything. There is a cliffhanger at the end, that wasn't bad at all. It definitely makes me want to read the next book in the series and I recommend everyone to give this series a try.

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

*ARC provided by Netgalley*
This was definitely a refreshing idea to the typical vampire novels out there. I was captivated by the whole story and thought it was pretty good. Bound by Night starts of with the idea of humans owning vampire as slaves. The Martins are a powerful family whose power ends up killing a lot of vampires, and owning others as slaves. Vampire families get separated and this results to rebellions between the vampires and humans. Nicole Martin is only eight years old when her family is killed by these rebellions and this turns out in sending her away to Paris while she gets ready to become the next CEO of her family's company. Years pass and she comes back only to discover that her family's company has been doing a lot of secretive experiments to vampires that were illegal. She thinks she has the support of her brother, but that changes when the vampire that she is supposed to hate kidnaps her and her brother doesn't do anything to get her back. Nicole realizes just how much her family really cares for her, but discovering that what she thought to believe is not true will then notice how much she is willing to give up to be with those that truly care for her.

On the other hand, Riker is constantly reminded of his past. When he recognizes Nicole, he is full of anger and wants to do to the right thing, avenge his mate's death. But due to a series of events, and the more time they spend together will they realize just how the two need each other in order to save those they love in order to be together in the end. Apart from being an amazing story, Bound by Night is full of emotions, and mystery that will keep you wanting for more. There were a few things that I would have liked to see, but overall the story was great. The plot was very well-written that made the story that much more enjoyable. I admire Nicole's personality and courage, she is willing to make amends for what her family did to the vampires. While Riker seems like a tormented soul, he is caring and wants to save those that he loves no matter the cost. Both characters were great and I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. I'm sure it's going to be awesome. :)

And what was with these escorts? One is unearthly gorgeous, and drives me crazy with his presence and touch, and the other looks like a pissed-off WWE wrestler. They're somehow connected to Watchers and On my God! My life is starting to feel like a cheap sci-fi flick. All that was missing were vampires and werewolves. Wait...Vampires? Review: Yank by Selena Kitt

Yank
by Selena Kitt
Released Date: Published by Excessica (first published January 1st 2010)
Series: ----
Pages: ebook
View/Purchase: Goodreads, Amazon, B&N

Just-graduated David has been brightening up his gray Surrey, England days with the porn collection hidden in his parents' shed, but when he finds that their American foreign exchange student, Dawn, has discovered his magazines, things really begin to heat up.

David’s parents insist that he look for a job, but Dawn has the week off and is determined to work on her tan. Distracted David finds himself increasingly tempted by their seductive, older foreign exchange student, who makes it very clear what she wants.

In spite of the Study Abroad program’s policy that no “relations” are allowed between a student and anyone in their host family—not to mention David’s mother’s insistence that they treat each other as “brother and sister,”—Dawn’s teasing ways slowly break down the barrier between them until they both give in to their lust.

But what are they going to do about the feelings that have developed between them in the meantime?

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

Yank was a rather quick and very short book. The overall concept of this book felt flat for me.With that said, there really wasn't any plot in the story. It was full of steamy scenes that took over the majority if not all of the story. Although this book is under the erotic romance category, I would have thought it actually included a little bit more plot, but I was wrong. From the very beginning, we meet David, who is struggling to find a job and maintain a relationship with his parents. He often finds himself drawn to an older foreign exchange student, who happens to live in his house. Despite knowing Dawn for many years, he has come to love her as a sister, yet as they both grow he starts to develop feelings for her. It all seemed physical at first, but as they spend more time together they both discover that their feelings may not be all physical after all. The real question is whether they want to admit their feelings for each other or not. Like I mentioned before, the story felt flat for me, and although it was fast-paced I liked certain moments in the book. Both characters struggle to find where they belong and to accept their feelings. Hence the majority of the time they are running away from what they real feel and want. The story was well-written, but the only thing that it would have helped the story was the ending. It felt too rushed for my liking, but I would recommend everyone who likes these kind of stories to give this book a try.

My Rating: 3.5/5

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

*A copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

I absolutely loved this book. I haven't read a vampire romance book in a while, so this was definitely refreshing to read. I love how Bella Forrest is able to come up with a whole new different concept to your typical vampire romance story.

From the very beginning I was captivated by the whole aspect of the story, it starts of with Sophia, a seventeen year old girl that longs to have her best friend, Ben, see her as more than a friend. She has struggled by seeing him with other girls and doesn't know what to do anymore. One night she decides to a stroll by the beach, when suddenly a handsome stranger appears and kidnaps her. When she wakes up she is scared to find herself chained and helpless. Everything is going wrong with her and things start to get a lot worse when the stranger that kidnaps her is non other than a vampire, that has taken a liking in her and her blood.

When she is selected to be part of Derek's personal slaves, she is shocked to discover that he is a legendary vampire prince that is respected among his kind. Confused and desperate to find a way to escape, Sophia embarks in a new adventure where she'll have to learn how to survive and most of all learn how to not fall in love with the very prince that can't let her go. In this new world, Bella Forrest, describes how Sophia is trapped between a vampire that wants to have her for her blood to one that desperately wants her to love him back.

I really enjoyed the flow of the story, it has a great plot that is impossible to let go of the book, because you just want to know what happens next. It is very well-written and it all ties together in the end. I would have liked to see more scenes between Derek and Sophia though, but overall it was a great story. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I recommend everyone to give it a try, you will not regret it.

My Rating: 4.5/5

ARC Review: Unspoken by Jen Frederick

Unspoken
by Jen Federick
Released Date: September 16th 2013 by Pear Tree LLC
Series: Woodlands #2
Pages: ebook260 pages
View/Purchase: Goodreads, Amazon

Whore. Slut. Typhoid Mary.

I've been called all these at Central College. One drunken night, one act of irresponsible behavior, and my reputation was ruined. Guys labeled me as easy and girls shied away. To cope, I stayed away from Central social life and away from Central men, so why is it that my new biology lab partner is so irresistible to me?

He's everything I shouldn't want. A former Marine involved in illegal fighting with a quick trigger temper and an easy smile for all the women. His fists aren't the danger to me, though, it's his charm. He's sliding his way into my heart and I'm afraid that he's going to be the one to break me.

Impulsive. Unthinking. Hot tempered.

I allow instinct to rule my behavior. If it feels good, do it, has been my motto because if I spend too much time thinking, I'll begin to remember exactly where I came from. At Central College, I've got fighting and I've got women and I thought I was satisfied until I met her.

She's everything I didn't realize I wanted and the more time I spend with her, the more I want her. But she's been hurt too much in the past and I don't want to be the one to break her. I know I should walk away, but I just can't.

My Review:

*ARC provided by Netgalley*

I really enjoyed reading this book, it has great romance and the chemistry between the both main characters is great. Although I haven't read the first book, which I believe was Noah's story, I can't really say if it's better or not. I can only say that this story was a page turner for me. I was intrigued from the very beginning and I fell in love with the characters as the story progressed.

In this story, we meet Bo, a former Marine that has enrolled at Central College and who is known to be quite a lady's men. Apart from his good looks, he is involved in illegal fighting which makes him vulnerable whenever he has a bad temper. But when he arrives to his Biology class, he was not expecting to see AM (AnnMarie). He is immediately intrigued to see that she keeps to herself and that she is uninterested in him. With that said, his goal is to get to know her and perhaps get her to like him back. On the other hand we have AM, a typical college student who is trying to survive school. But underneath, she is in constant pain because it seems like the entire student body doesn't like her and so she keep to herself and with her only friend. Her life is not easy, she is constantly bullied by her classmates. When she gets enrolled in her Biology class, she was surprised to see Bo and that's where their attraction towards one another really begins.

Both characters grow throughout the story, they go from hiding their past to learning how to overcome it. As they spend more time together, emotions run high and their attraction towards each other is what keeps them unable to pull apart. They both need each other and they have to learn how to trust one another if they are going to have a future together. Overall, the story line was great. I really got to know the characters really well and the ending tied everything together perfectly. The author does a really good job describing each character and the story is very well written. I would recommend everyone to give this story a try, you will not regret it.
