His marriage of inconvenience…
Camilla Winthrop is about to do something she's never done in her life—she's about to ask a man to marry her. Not just any man. She hasn't seen Sam Flanagan in almost five years, after he coldly walked away from a passionate and intense two-week affair. Now Camilla is widowed and desperate…and marrying Sam is the only way she can protect their son. The son he never knew about.
A hugely successful attorney in Miami, Sam certainly never expected to see the stunning Camilla come through his door again. Nor can he ignore the desire heating his blood. But after she tells him her situation, Sam is furious. He'll marry her, but under his terms. And he'll take everything, including Camilla in his bed…unless she can find a way to thaw the millionaire's icy heart once more.

My Review:

The Millionaire's Unexpected Proposal is a book about second chances, and love.

Camilla Winthrop has had a rough life, she has had to deal with a lot of chances in her life, and she is about to make a decision that could possibly change her life forever. After her parents died in a car accident, Camilla had to take care of her younger sister, Olivia. When she got the chance to provide for her sister, she jump at the chance without realizing that her life was about to change. Now she is in Las Vegas ready to marry a man she didn't want for herself, but the minute she is interrupted by a handsome stranger, all rational thoughts go out the window, and she let the heat of the moment take its own course without realizing that her handsome stranger was about to break her heart. Now Camilla is back after a few years since the incident in Vegas, and desperately wants the help of non other than the very man that crushed her heart. But now the help isn't for her sister, but for her son.

Sam Flanagan is a very successful attorney based in Miami, whose success has made him a force to reckon with when it comes to his job. Yet, nothing could have prepared him for what unexpected visit that he gets from non other than the same women who he left behind when he was in Las Vegas. What surprised him the most was to receive a marriage proposal from her in order to protect her son....his son, the one that she successfully hide from him all these years. Now Sam is furious, and he is willing to do everything in his power to get his son away from the women who he can't seem to stay away from after all these years.

I was pleasantly surprised with how everything turned out in the book. It's evident from the start that both characters have pasts that they want to get away from, but their new problems are making it impossible for them to truly move on. Sam's personality is overprotective, demanding, and caring at the same time. He is so good with Olivia and his son, I really enjoyed reading those scenes, where he is interacting with them. His relationship with Camilla changes from hot to cold that makes it impossible for them to solve their problems. When they slowly start to open up, that's when the both start to understand each other. The ending I felt that it was a bit rushed, but other than that I enjoyed reading the story. I would definitely recommend it.:)

My Review:

I loved this book! I've only read another book by Sonya Weiss and it didn't disappoint, so when I had the chance to read this book I knew that it was going to be one of my favorites for this year.

Right from the very beginning the synopsis and the cover completely grabbed my attention. I like the concept of this series “Men of the Zodiac,” it's very unique. In this book in particular we deal with the sign Gemini, and it totally plays off with the personality of one of the protagonist in the book.

Olivia Carter lives in a small town where she runs a wedding shop along with her friend. They have been trying to get press to notice the small business for a while now, but that's not enough to get the attention that she needs for her shop to do well in order for her to for her father's hospital bills. So, she comes up with a plan to tell everyone that she has a millionaire boyfriend, who adores her yet no one seems to know who the boyfriend is, and although she is getting the attention that she needs, she desperately wants to find the said “boyfriend” before anyone notices that it was all a lie. When an unexpected guest shows up at her shop claiming that he will pretend to be her boyfriend, she is shocked to see non other than, Mason Parker, the guy that her father helped to put in jail along with his friends when they were younger. Now he is back, and she is desperate to accept his help, but not before finding out what Mason really wants in return.

Millionaire Mason Parker has had a rough live, it's no surprised that he was able to gain millions for his quick thinking, and for being ruthless in his business. After all, having been through hell during his teen years has shaped who he is now. When he learns of Olivia's problem, Mason offers to help her, but not before he gets what he wants first. He wants Olivia's lands, and in return he'll pretend to be her boyfriend. But that soon backfires on him when he starts to feel the pull that he has towards Olivia. When his plan to get revenge doesn't turn out the way he wants it to be, he'll have to decide whether Olivia is worth fighting for or not.

I thought that book was very well executed, the chemistry between the characters is unavoidable, and it made me want to keep reading the story. Both of the characters have a past that they are trying to move on from. Mason is the one that has suffered the most, all he wants is justice for his friend, and he is not going to give up until he get what he wants. When he suggests Olivia to move to his house, that's when things really start to heat up for the two of them. They both are attracted towards one another, and it was interesting to read how they dealt with their problems. The ending was cutest, I absolutely loved it. This is definitely a book worth reading, I highly recommend it. :)

AUTHOR BIO:

Cortney Pearson is a book nerd who studied literature at BYU-Idaho, a music nerd who plays clarinet in her local community orchestra, and a writing nerd who creates stories for young adults. Cortney lives with her husband and three sons in a small Idaho farm town.

{Q&A}

Tell us a little bit about The Stolen Tears series, and especially Such a Secret Place. Where did you get your idea?

The idea of a world where tears are magical came to me while I was jamming out to a song by Shiny Toy Guns. I don’t remember which song (I wish I did!) but the idea just bulldozed into my brain and wouldn’t let me go!

The series is about a girl who finds a vial of magical tears and has to use them to break a spell. These tears are the most powerful ever shed, and so naturally many others are after them as well and Ambry has to protect them while trying to decipher who to trust.

Have you always wanted to be a writer?

Yes! I remember drawing pictures and scribbling underneath them before I even knew *how* to write, then going around to my family members and telling them my stories.

What inspires you?

Music, definitely. I ALWAYS write with music on, and I usually fit it to the mood of the scene I’m trying to write. Reading stories or watching movies like mine helps too. I was stumped the other day, but while watching Divergent with some friends inspiration struck and I suddenly knew how to fix a spot I’d been struggling to write.

Do you listen to music when you write?

I do! It helps me block everything else out, strangely enough.

On that note, what’s your favorite Pandora station/type of music?

Lately my writing stations are Film Scores radio, Birdy radio (for romantic, swoony scenes), and I’m really liking Ed Sheeran’s stuff and a band called Superhumanoids.

Any other hobbies besides writing?

I read a lot, mostly. Pretty standard, lol. I also love to play the clarinet.

Scenario: It’s the end of the world. Aliens are invading and you have two minutes to hurry and grab your three favorite things before rushing off to safety. What do you grab?

Assuming my family is already coming with me, my top three items would be--
  1. The flash drive with all my writing on it
  2. My clarinet
  3. My copy of Jane Eyre

“Why, Jared Hoffman, do you not want this?” I tease, slowly unbuttoning his shirt.

He smiles, his hands bracing themselves on the bed at either side of my head. “I didn’t say that... it’s just I don’t want to rush anything.”

Jared’s shirt falls open when I finally reach the last button. His perfect abs are shadowed and defined by the moonlight. My eyes start up his chest. “Rush?” I whisper softly as my hands graze their way up his biceps that frame my face. “Jare… this has been seven long years in the making. I think we’ve waited long enough.”

He pauses for a second. I hear his breath hitch in his throat as his dark eyes study my face. For some reason, I’m surprised when I feel Jared’s lips on mine. The passion between us is renewed at my admission. It’s my turn to moan against his lips. My legs automatically slide up and down his, causing my dress to hike up slightly before my legs wrap themselves around his waist. His hands make their way up my side slowly as if ingraining into memory the curve of my body. My hands have automatically found their way to his belt. I slip my fingers through it and release the hook, swinging it open. Before I know it, I’m unbuttoning his jeans. That’s when I feel his hands squeeze me tight. His lips leave mine for the first time since I spoke, and I feel them slowly trace their way down my neck. My fists clench against the skin on his waist.

“Oh, Jared,” I groan.

His body freezes above me for a fraction of a second. His head lifts out of the crook of my neck to meet my eyes again.

“Do you know how long I’ve waited to hear you call my name like that?” he whispers.

My hands find their way to his face and mingle with his hair. “There’s more where that came from.” I shoot him a sexy smirk before pulling his lips back to mine.

The sun had just barely started to rise when I woke up. I had a small moment of disorientation, not sure where I was or what was going on. I quickly remembered because Nico had shifted at some point in the night and was lying on his side, facing me. He still had his arms wrapped around me, and our legs were intertwined. I had never been this physically close to someone. My nerves were hyperaware and sensitive at every point where our bodies made contact. And there were a lot of contact points.

Our faces were practically touching. A low, steady thud started in the base of my stomach, and my blood sizzled and snapped.

“I could get used to this,” he murmured, his eyes still closed.

            “What?” My voice sounded stupid.

He opened his eyes, and his piercing blue gaze turned the thudding into drumming. “Waking up every morning with you in my arms.”

“I thought you said you had insomnia.”

“I do. Last night was the best night’s sleep I’ve had in I don’t know how long.” He started tracing patterns on my back with his fingers, running them up and down, making me cold and hot at the same time. “It seems I’ll just have to fall asleep with you every night if I ever want to sleep that well again.”

“If I was with you every night, we both know there would be no sleeping going on.” It was probably one of the boldest things I’d ever said.

He gave me a lazy grin. “That’s true.”

Then his fingers were in my hair, and I stretched into it like a purring cat, wanting more. I closed my eyes for a second, reveling in the sensations. I tightened my hold on him, without even realizing it. I only knew I wanted to be closer to him.

His fingers stilled, and I opened my eyes to look at him. He was staring at my face. It was more than a little disconcerting. “What are you looking at?”

            “I’m counting your freckles.”

I put my hands over my nose. “Don’t do that.”

            “Why?”

            “I hate my freckles.”

“They’re adorable.” He moved my hands and kissed the bridge of my nose. He was lucky I didn’t actually spontaneously combust and set us both on fire. “You’re adorable. Beautiful.”

I glanced off to the side, not able to endure the intensity of his gaze.. My pulse skittered wildly.

I looked back at him, studying him in return. He hadn’t pressured me or made me feel dumb or dumped me or anything that I expected a man to do if I told him I wouldn’t kiss him. He had respected me. Spoiled me beyond belief. Wooed me with his words and his actions. Had proved himself reliable and worthy of my trust in every way.

            And my affection.

I closed the small distance between us and said, “Thank you...”

            Then I kissed him.

He pulled back, looking serious. “Does this mean . . . ?” His question trailed off.

            “Yes.”
