✯BLOG TOUR:✯ Faking It with Damian by D.J. Hunnam {REVIEW}

Faking It with Damian by D.J. Hunnam

Release Date: January 22nd 2017 by Amazon Digital Services
Pages: 233
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

I don’t do relationships…especially not with egotistical jerks like my new boss, Damian Wood. The man is vile, arrogant, condescending... and scorching hot. If he weren’t my boss and a grade-A a*&hole, I would turn on my world-famous charm and seduce the pants right off the man. But giving in to his undeniable allure might just cost me my job. Or worse yet, my heart.

I’m a prick…and Janice Holder’s new boss. Which means I should stay away, but I’ve never claimed to be a nice guy. If I don't get my twisted fascination under control, it will only be a matter of time before I bend her over my desk and screw her. Hard. The way I've imagined no fewer than a thousand times since we met. I’m playing with fire and neither of us can afford to get burned, but landing in hot water might just be worth the risk.

Faking It is a full-length, standalone office romance. It contains steamy scenes with a ton of heat and strong language intended for mature audiences.

Purchase: Amazon

My Review:

Faking It with Damian is Hunnam's debut novel and it didn't disappoint at all. From the sexy cover to the intriguing synopsis, the author completely won me over by introducing such relatable characters that will definitely leave you wanting for more. In the book we are introduced to Janice Holder, a Zaumba instructor who has landed a job as a leading marketing role at an engineering firm. Though she loves what she does, there are things in personal life that keep her distracted, for one her mother is sick and money is running out very quickly. It is due to her new job that she is able to make ends meet, but her boss is making things harder for her, especially when she can't get him of her head. She knows that she should stay away, but there is something about Damian that has her completely under his control. Their attraction is undeniable, but as they get to know each other, their pasts get revealed and they have to decide if by fixing them they can have a future together.

Damian Wood has it all, or so it seems. He likes to be in control, and his demanding job keeps him occupied when he is not home reminiscing over the past. But when he starts working with Janice things start to change, he suddenly feels the need to have her in his life and let go of his past. It'll be up to him to fix his past if he wants to have Janice in his life. I really enjoyed the book, the character's back stories were touching and relatable. Damian is swoon worthy and sweet. Though they have a lot to work on as a couple, they truly belong with each other. The writing was great, and the ending will leave you wanting for more. I would highly recommend it. :)

My Rating:

First introduced to the genre by her grandmother, DJ Hunnam is an author with a true love for great romance novels. After reading hundreds of them over the last twenty years, she finally decided to put pen to paper and craft her own happily ever afters (HEA). She loves to write about strong heroines who fall in love with even sexier heroes, while tackling real-world problems. Her books are packed with sizzling scenes sure to make you blush. A scientist by day and author by night, DJ Hunnam straddles the fence between the mundane and the erotic on a daily basis. When she isn’t writing, you might find her curled up with a book, chasing her two wild sons, or pursuing her own HEA with her husband of ten years. She’s a sucker for dark chocolate, a good bottle of Malbec, and a sexy six-pack.

✯BOOK BLITZ:✯ Last Semester by Corine Mekaouch {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

 Last Semester by Corine Mekaouch

Release Date: April 21st 2017 by Corine Mekaouche
Pages: 360
Genres: Comedy, New Adult, Romance

When Johanna ‘Jo’ Gold, witty college life blogger and senior at Rutan University, decides to move in with three male strangers her last semester of school, her life unexpectedly turns upside down.

While dealing with her new roommates, A.J., the pompous rich kid who feels trapped in following his father’s footsteps; Rob, the prematurely engaged former womanizer who tries to force Jo out of the house at all costs; and Drew, the 21-year-old virgin genius whose encounters with women have been more than limited, Jo learns that change isn't always easy and it's up to her to learn how to survive the remainder of her time at Rutan the best that she can.

Along with searching for her missing mother, figuring out a clever way to pay for school tuition on her own, and dealing with the childish pranks brought on by a certain roommate, Jo’s issues seem more complicated than the average 21-year-old. Can Jo endure the dramatic perils of college while planning for life after graduation?

Purchase: Amazon

“Breathe, Rob! Just breathe!” I demand in a panicky voice from the back seat as we swiftly pull up to the entrance of the hospital. Clutching his chest in pain next to me, he heaves out a few spouts of air, but it’s not enough to help him.

I watch my roommate Rob’s cheeks turn from a shade of deep pink to a dark crimson red. “A.J.! He’s getting worse!” I yell to my other roommate in the driver’s seat. He rolls his eyes then turns around.

“Calm down, Jo!” he exclaims. “I can’t think when you’re yelling like this!”

Drew, our other roommate, and usually the voice of reason, says nothing as he quickly jumps out of the Range Rover and runs into the hospital entrance.

“Can’t. Breathe,” Rob manages to force out of his mouth, then before I know it, his body falls limp and his head somehow ends up on my lap. His eyes roll to the back of his head.

“I think he’s dying!” I whine and suddenly I’m losing my breath.

Releasing a loud groan, A.J. climbs out of the SUV and casually walks into the hospital as if nothing is wrong.

Why is he so calm and I’m flipping the hell out?

I begin to shake Rob’s shoulders but he doesn’t respond and I’m almost positive that he’s not breathing at all now.

It’s official.

I killed my roommate.

Okay, maybe he’s not dead yet, but if death was a road, he just made a left turn for the worse then ran over a few annoying potholes and some week old roadkill...and probably drove off a cliff or something...

Ugh! I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore! I feel guilty for doing this to him and I feel even more guilty because I kinda hate his arrogant, smug ass, but just because someone is an asshole doesn’t mean that they deserve to die, does it?

The back door opens and I see A.J. and Drew standing outside with a wheelchair. A.J. roughly wraps his arms around Rob’s body and begins to pull him out of the car. “Fuck! He’s like the size of an ogre,” he complains as he struggles to get Rob into the wheelchair. The fact that Rob is as useless as a wet noodle right now makes it difficult for A.J. to adjust Rob’s body in the chair. I cringe just watching it.

“I knew this was going to happen one day,” Drew says shaking his head. “The inevitable always happens.”

Shooting Drew a snarling glare, A.J. grits his teeth. “Just roll the goddamn chair into the hospital,” he instructs. Drew turns the chair around and begins to jog into the emergency room with Rob’s body leaning to one side. A.J. looks at me in the SUV, annoyed. “Well, are you coming?” he asks and I just freeze.

Do I stay? Do I go? I don’t know what to do with myself!

Taking a quick yet deep breath, I climb out of the SUV, shut the door and join A.J. on the other side of the vehicle.

“I’m horrible,” I blurt out and I can feel wetness welling in my eyes. “I’m a horrible person.”

“Dammit, Jo! I hate it when girls cry,” he complains as he shuts the other back door and begins to walk into the hospital. He pauses in his tracks when he notices that I’m not following him.

I’m frozen.

✯BLOG TOUR:✯ The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan {EXCERPT + REVIEW}

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan

Release Date: April 18th 2017
Series: Game On #4
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

First we were friends. Then we were roommates. Now I want more…

What can I say about Chess Copper? The woman is capable of bringing me to my knees. I know this about five minutes after getting naked for her.

No one is more surprised than me. The prickly photographer my team hired to shoot our annual charity calendar isn’t my usual type. She’s defense to my offense, a challenge at every turn. But when I’m with her, all the regrets and darkness goes away. She makes life fun.

I want to know Chess, be close to her. Which is a bad idea.

Chess is looking for a relationship. I’ve never given a woman more than one night. But when fate leaves Chess without a home, I step up and offer her mine. We’re roommates now. Friends without benefits. But it’s getting harder to keep our hands off each other. And the longer we live together the more I realize she’s becoming my everything.

Trick is… Now that I’ve made her believe I’m a bad bet, how do I convince her to give this player a true shot at forever?

My Review:

From the sexy cover to the intriguing synopsis, Callihan did an amazing job creating a story filled with steamy scenes and second chances at love. In this particular story we get to meet Finn and Chess Copper as they struggle to keep their friendship from becoming something more. As a professional photographer, Chess has worked with a lot of people, but even though her business is successful she can't seem to be lucky at finding the right person for her. When she gets hired to photograph a football team for their annual charity calendar, Chess wasn't expecting to find Finn particularly alluring. After all, she is photographing really attractive men, but there is something about Finn that has her from the very begging and although he can be cocky she can't seem to get him out of her mind. It is through a series of unfortunate events that lead her straight to him and to becoming his roommate. Now she has to figure out a way to keep her distance if she doesn't want to get her heart broken.

For Finn, being the quarterback of a successful football team has its perks. He can get just about any women he would like and his the ladies love his personality. But there is one person that challenges him and finally treats him as a regular person, and he can't stop thinking about Chess Copper. He knows that he should stay away from her, but the more he learns about her, the more he wants to make her his. Now he just has to convince her that they might just perfect for each other.

I absolutely loved reading this book, it was funny and romantic. Finn is the perfect male character in my opinion, he is kind and would do anything for Chess. Their instant chemistry would leave you wanting for more. We get learn about their pasts in the story which helped understand the decisions that they would make in the book. Chess is someone that wants to have the perfect relationship, and not a random hookup. It is until she meets Finn that she starts to question if he could be the one. Not only was the story sweet and entertaining, the the epilogue is going to melt your heart. I would highly recommend reading The Hot Shot, you will not regret it. :)

My Rating:

Grumbling, I toss on some black lounge pants and my oversized Tulane t-shirt and head to the drugstore.

My head throbs by the time I get there, and my insides are writhing. I rest my hand against my lower stomach and grab a basket before calling James to complain.

“I swear,” I tell him as I grab a bottle of painkillers. “It’s like this entire day has been cursed.”

He snickers. “Curse. Get it? Curse?”

I roll my eyes, even though he can’t see me. “Laugh it up. Meanwhile, it feels as if someone is playing Battleship in my uterus.”

“Poor Chessie bear. At least we know why you were in such a foul mood.”

A flush washes over my cheeks. “Yeah.” Lie. Lie. Lie. A tub of salted caramel gelato makes its way into the basket.

“Tell me you’re getting some gelato,” James says.

I smile. “Just grabbed it.”

“Salted caramel?”

“You know it.”

I find the feminine products aisle and search for my brand. “I’m going to go home, take a long bath with my gelato, and forget this fucking day.” Forget Finn. “And then I’m going to go on Amazon and buying a freaking year’s supply of tampons so I don’t have to make these kinds of emergency runs anymore.”

A low, deep chuckle rumbles from behind me, and all the tiny hairs lift on my arms.

“But you’ll still need your gelato,” a familiar—fuck me, seriously?—voice points out.

My insides swoop even as my cheeks burn.

“Who is that?” James asks in my ear.

I slowly turn on one heel. “The plague,” I say, glaring up at Finn Mannus’s smiling face.

“From asshat to plague.” Finn scrunches up his brow. “I’m not sure if that’s a step down or a tie.”

“Who is that?” James nearly yells now.

I don’t take my eyes off Finn. “I’ll call you back.”

James’s squawks of protest cut off as I hit the end button.

“Are you stalking me, Mannus?”

Finn a rests his hands low on his lean hips. “Having a healthy amount of conceit myself, I have to admire yours, but no, buttercup. My buddy Woodson lives a few blocks away. It’s poker night. I’m stocking up on beer.”

It’s only then I notice a twelve pack tucked under his other arm.

“And tampons?” I ask, with a pointed look around the aisle we’re standing in.

“Not tonight,” he says easily. “Though we used to keep a pack of them back in college. Light flows were perfect for stopping up bloody noses.”

A snort escapes me. “Now there’s a visual.” Somehow, I’ve taken a step closer to him. He’s freshly showered, the golden brown strands of his hair still damp at his temples. And I wonder if he’s just come from the gym or practice. “So back in college you went and bought these tampons?”

“Nah,” he says with a cheeky smile. “I’d ask one of the girls hanging around to get me some.”

“Of course you did.” My nose wrinkles with annoyance.

“Give me a little credit, Chess. I’d buy them now if I had to.”

“Hmm…” I eye him, trying not to return his smile. If only because it’s more fun when he teases. “So why are you in this aisle now, if not for potential nosebleed needs?”

“That’s easy.” He steps closer, a warm wall of muscle and clean scent. “I heard your voice.”

For a second I just blink. “You recognized my voice?”

His gaze darts over my face as if he’s trying to get a read on why I’m gaping at him. “Not to be…ah…rude, but you’re loud when you talk on the phone.”

“Yeah, but… You recognized it.” We’d only just met. It occurs to me that I’d recognized his both times he’d snuck up on me. Then again, his voice is distinctive, flowing like hot honey when he’s relaxed or hammering down like iron to rock when he’s taking command of a situation.

A soft flush of pink tints the tips of his ears. If I wasn’t staring at him, I might have missed it. He shifts his weight. “Was I not supposed to?”

“No. Yes.” I shake my head and laugh. “I don’t know.”

He grins then. “You’re cute when you’re flustered.”

“I’m not flustered.” I am.

I didn't know what I was going to do. I had nothing to wear on a date, and even though Twitch had left to give me an opportunity to get ready, I was freaking out.

One final search of my suitcase came up with something interesting. The red leather mini-skirt I took with me when I was posing undercover as Trixie was shoved in one of the side pockets. I figured it was the best that I could come up with on short notice, so I did the best with what I had.

I grabbed one of my white dress shirts and rolled the sleeves up to my elbows and left the top three buttons undone so it would show just enough cleavage. I teased my hair and applied a smoky eye.

“Tasha? You ready?” Twitch asked from the other room.

I looked down at myself, applied a bit of lip gloss and left the room.

The look on his face when I walked out in my thrown together outfit could only be described as hungry. I looked him up and down in his black polo shirt with his black leather jacket over the top of his broad shoulders.

His dark hair was artfully messed up and his dark stone washed jeans hugged his hips. I probably had the same hungry look on my face as he did, and he leisurely perused my body with his eyes. When his eyes finally looked up to meet mine, he groaned.

“God darlin’, if you don't quit looking at me like that we're not gonna make it to dinner,” he groaned again.

I smiled coyly and turned to get my purse.

“You promised me dinner, Dylan,” I purred as I walked toward him.

“Say it again.”

“Dylan?” I whispered huskily.

He grabbed me by my hips and crushed his lips to mine. I moaned and he took advantage of my open mouth to deepen the kiss. He attacked my mouth with such ferocity I couldn't breathe. I needed to feel him. I slid my hands up his chest, beneath his jacket, and let it slide off his shoulders on to the floor.

Grabbing his hair in both hands, I pulled him closer until not a breath of space was between our bodies. He rotated his hips and I moaned when his erection brushed my stomach. I slid my hands back down his chest and slid my hands under his shirt until I could feel the planes of his rock hard abs against my fingers.

He ripped his mouth from mine and in one swift motion, pulled his shirt over his head, and I was dumbstruck by his chiseled chest. His body was God-like in its magnificence. He grabbed me by the back of the neck and hauled my lips to his as the fingers of his other hand trailed the skin at my midriff. I shuddered and he began slowly unbuttoning my top as his lips trailed to my ear, nipping it gently.

He walked me backwards, kissing and licking down the column of my neck. I hit the wall and he lifted me so I could wrap my legs around his hips. He thrust his hips into mine and moaned, “God you're beautiful.”

At this point all the buttons on my shirt were undone and he was running his tongue along the top of my bra. He reached down and undid the front clasp with expert fingers. The shirt and bra fell to the floor at the same time, and before I knew it, he had one nipple in his mouth and he was pinching the other between his fingers.

“Dylan.” My cries seemed to spur him on.

With my skirt being hiked up around my hips, he had easy access into my panties. His long fingers found my opening and he thrust inside. I cried out his name again. The low rumbling growl that came from his throat vibrated against my nipple, and I nearly came on the spot.

“Oh God Dylan. I'm gonna come!” I yelled and he added another finger thrusting harder.

He moved his mouth from one nipple to the other and sucked, hard. I shrieked. Fireworks danced before my eyes as I came on a strangled moan.

I could feel him smile against my nipple as I started to come down off the peak, but he wasn't done with me yet.

“God, you're sexy when you come.” He growled and thrust his hips against my still pulsing core.

My Review:

After reading a couple of books by the author, it is no surprise that Kendall Ryan has become one of my favorite authors. She knows how to execute a great story filled with sexy characters and swooning romances that will leave you wanting for more. In The House Mate, we get to meet Addison and Max, two opposites who are trying to find a way to survive the obstacles that have recently come their way. In his thirties, Max Alexander has it all, he has money and women around him ready to please his every command. He has built a successful company, but he has never truly found love. This all comes crashing down on him when his ex shows up at his house to deliver the baby that they conceived over a year ago. Now he is a father who has no clue what to do, but when he hires a in-house nanny to take care of his daughter, he suddenly finds himself having feelings for her. He knows that she is a distraction that he can't afford to have, but as he gets to know her better, the more he wants her to be his.

On the other hand, Addison has recently broken up with her boyfriend and quitting school at the last minute has her on edge. She needs to find a job quickly, and that is when a sudden opportunity seems to be solving all of her problems. Yet, little did know that her boss was going to change her life forever. I really enjoyed reading this book, the characters have an instant chemistry that they can't deny. Living under the same roof definitely makes them worse for them because they can't run away from their feelings. As the two come to terms with their feelings, there are definitely things in their pasts that could jeopardize their future and they need to fix that. I loved Max, he truly is a great dad and swoon worthy character that will melt your heart. Addison is fun and is not really sure of what she wants at times, but she is trying to figure out what's best for her and those she loves. Overall, this was a quick romantic read that I would highly recommend picking up. :)
