I'm different now. I won't be that girl again. I'm in control. I'm the one who's going to leave him wishing he'd given me his everything when he had the chance...

Lana Raeven and Jarek Dean shared a night of passion, but the next morning, she woke up alone. Nine years later, Lana works as a successful event coordinator for a prestigious company. Bold and confident in every area but love, she hasn’t ever recovered from Jarek’s abandonment. However, a chance encounter with her former lover grants her an opportunity to take back her power.

Rather than chastising him for his cruelty, she plays unfazed and invites him back into her life. Using her ingenuity and sensuality as weapons, she draws him in with the intention of destroying him as he once destroyed her. But her plan for revenge isn’t as simple as she initially believed, for the more time she spends with Jarek, the more she’s reminded of why she loved him. And if she isn’t careful, she could lose him all over again.

My Review:

After reading the synopsis I was intrigued with the plot and the cover of the book was a plus for me. From the very beginning we get to meet Lana Raeven, who happens to work for as a very successful event coordinator. With family as well as professional events heading her way, she has a lot of stress in her life at the moment. But that soon changes when she bumps into Jerek Dean, the guy she spent a night of passion with one night, only to wake up alone the next morning as if nothing happened. Fast forwarding nine years later, she sees him again, this time he is a very successful entrepreneur who happens to know her family really well. Lana knows that she can't have Jerek, so she decides to stay away from him, but that doesn't end up working because Jerek is the one pursuing her this time around.  It is after spending time together, that Lana realizes how much she loves him, and after finding out what really happened nine years ago she has to decide whether their relationship is worth fighting for or not.

Though the book has a very typical plot line, I still liked the characters, especially Jerek Dean. He is kind, handsome, and he really likes Lana that he is willing to do anything for her. He has worked so hard to be the guy that Lana's family would approve of that he ended up a millionaire without the love of his life. Now he is back ready to convince her that their relationship is worth a second chance. On the other hand, Lana became a very repetitive character for me, she kept question her relationship with Jerek ninety percent of the time, which made me like her less as I read the book. They both have difficult relationships with their families, and they have to overcome that in order to move on. Overall, the book was very easy to read and it was full of steamy scenes. The only thing that I didn't really liked so much was Lana's character and the way the author rushed things at the end. If you are looking for a quick romantic book filled with steamy scenes, and a bit of drama then this is definitely the book for you.
