Or will she break his heart all over again and leave.

Book set in the Reynolds Restorations world

My Review:

As the third book in the Reynold’s Restorations Series, Moreland delivers Shifting Gears a story about second chances and new beginnings. It will leave you swooning and rooting for the characters until the very end.

Brett Conner loves his job as a mechanic/assistant manager of Reynolds & Co. Restorations and Repairs. But as he sees everyone around him find love, he wonders if he’ll ever experience that in his life. The one person that has made him feel that he could left him for her job and hasn’t come back. Kelly crushed his heart, but no matter how much he wants to move on, he still can’t stop thinking about her. Until she comes back into his life, looking tired and withdrawn. Brett knows that something happened to the fiery woman he once knew, he should hate her for what she put him through. Yet, the more time they spend together, the more he realizes that she will always be the one for him. Now he just needs to convince her to stick around for good.

Kelly Ryerson loves photography and hopes to travel the world to capture the beauty of other places. As a self-taught photographer, Kelly knows that she needs the perfect opportunity to work for the best in the business. But she wasn’t expecting to find herself in love with Brett. Having met at their friends’ wedding, they formed a connection so strong that being together felt right. Yet, to Kelly that’s exactly what she feared it would happen. She has never felt loved or be able to settle down. The idea of not being able to pursue her dream is not what she wants. So she makes the hardest decision to leave for the biggest adventure in her life, only it turned out to be the biggest mistake. Now she is back in her town and ready to put the past behind her. Kelly knows that Brett resents her for leaving him, but as the two start to lean on each other again, she is set on to gain his trust and love before it’s too late.

I throughly enjoyed reading Shifting Gears, it’s filled with a sizzling romance and steamy scenes. The characters have a chemistry like no other and it’s evident right away. It’s stronger than they thought, but being together felt right to both of them. Then Kelly left to pursue her dream, hurting Brett and what they once had. Now they have lean on each other if they want a shot at a relationship. I loved their interactions with previous characters and their families. They have a sense of community and they want to see Brett and Kelly happy again. The ending was sweet and it fit them so well. I would highly recommend checking out the series, I cannot wait to read what happens next. :)

πŸ”– REVIEW BLITZ πŸ”– Mine To Have by Natasha Madison

Mine To Have by Natasha Madison

Release Date: May 31st 2022
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

From Wall Street Journal and USA TODAY bestselling author Natasha Madison comes a brand new stand-alone a small town, second chance romance.

Are you ready for The Southern Wedding Series?
Things are supposed to go smoothly on your wedding day.
Aren't they?

Harlow

I promised him I would be there for the best day of his life.

Not thinking I wouldn’t be the one standing next to him.

But here I was attending the love of my life’s wedding day.

I smiled when I saw him and pushed back the tears that wanted to come out.

This was his day and I was going to fulfill my promise.

Travis

It was supposed to be the best day of my life.

But the second I got up, things started to fall apart.

The kitchen just caught on fire.

Flowers were from a funeral.

My bride-to-be just had an allergic reaction leaving by ambulance.

Oh and my ex-girlfriend just walked into the church.

They say you have to see the signs when they are right in front of you.

Maybe she was just mine to have.

My Review:

From the gorgeous cover to the intriguing synopsis, Madison delivers Mine To Have, the first book in the Southern Wedding Series. This emotional and steamy second chance small town romance will leave you wanting for more.

For the past four years, Harlow Barnes has been working really hard to make her veterinarian practice in her hometown a success. It’s what has kept her constantly busy, leaving her with not so much time for her love life. After her ex broke her heart and ended their relationship, Harlow’s wound never healed. So it takes her by surprise when a wedding invitation gets delivered to her practice addressed to her. Harlow realizes that her ex, Travis is getting married and she is once again confronted with the feelings that she hasn’t been able to let go of for him. But she made him a promise, to be there for him on the best day of his life, and that’s exactly what Harlow is going to do no matter how much it hurts. Yet, it would only take seeing Travis again to change the course of their lives forever. A turn of events would bring them closer than ever, while bringing back their past and a few obstacles along the way. She’ll have to decide if it’s worth giving their relationship a shot or walk away altogether.

It should be the best day of his life, but everything in Travis Baker’s life is starting to fall apart. From having issues with the kitchen in the venue to the funeral flowers that have been mistakenly delivered, giving the bride a severe allergic reaction. But what tops it all of is seeing the one person he thought was the one for him enter the church as an invited guest. It’s been years since Travis has seen Harlow and he is taken by her beauty right away. Memories of what they once shared crossed his mind and why he had to let her go in the first place. It hurt him to end things with her, but he is happy to see that she is fulfilling her dreams. A part of him has always had feelings for Harlow, so when his wedding is officially canceled he doesn’t feel the same hurt that he once did when he broke up with her. Fate has unique way of intervene when we least expect it and Travis is set on winning Harlow’s heart once again before it’s too late.

I really love reading any of Natasha Madison’s books, they are always on point when it comes to all the feels and romance. It’s clear that Harlow and Travis still have feelings for each other from the very beginning, but new obstacles come their way as they are once again put in the position where they have to decide their future. Their interactions with the rest of their families kept the story entertaining and the ending fits them really well. I would highly recommend checking out Mine To Have, I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Book 1: A Cinderella for the Prince’s Revenge

{EXCERPT}

“Briony?”

Cass’s voice yanked her out of her melancholy state. She loved the way he said her name, the syllables rolling off his tongue in an exotic accent.

“Sorry.” She gave him a quick smile. “It was fine.”

Most people accepted that answer, didn’t press for more out of courtesy or disinterest. But Cass stared at her, eyes probing. Her smile slipped as she shifted on her feet.

“What?”

“You’re an open book.”

She frowned. “Oh?”

He leaned across the bar. The scarred countertop still separated them. All she had to do was lean back to keep space between them.

But she didn’t. No, she just stood there as he laid a finger on her rapidly beating pulse at the base of her throat. Amazing how much fire one graze of a fingertip could ignite, she thought desperately past the swirling rush of blood roaring in her ears. The first time he’d ever touched her, a mere tap of his finger, and she could barely stop from swooning like a teenager with her first crush.

“The pulse in your throat. Your tongue darting out to touch your lips.” Despite the uptick in volume as the band transitioned into a raucous rendition of the latest country song, his words wound around her, a seductive spell. His eyes dropped down to her mouth. A wild temptation seized her, made her sway forward before common sense yanked her back. Had she truly almost kissed a customer? A most likely very wealthy, very handsome customer who would be leaving any day now.

Emmy's interest in romance can be traced back to her love of Nancy Drew books, when she tried to solve the mysteries of her favorite detective while rereading the romantic chapters with Ned Nickerson. Fast-forward a few years when she discovered a worn copy of "A Rose in Winter" by Kathleen Woodiwiss on her mother's bookshelf, and she was hooked. Over 20 years later, Harlequin Presents made her dream come true by offering her a contract for her first book.

When Emmy isn't writing or reading, she's chasing around her baby boy, feeding her menagerie of fur babies or carving out a little time on her front porch with her firefighter hubby.

πŸ”– REVIEW BLITZ πŸ”– Ryker by Samantha Lind

Ryker by Samantha Lind

Release Date: June 23rd 2022 by Samantha Lind
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Sports

After years of trying to get back home to be closer to my daughter, I finally secured a spot on the newly expanded San Francisco Shockwaves.

Juggling being the newly appointed Captain of the team and taking on full-time fatherhood to a teenager sends my life into chaos.

I quickly find myself needing someone who can pick up the pieces and keep my life in order as I certainly can’t do it alone.

I just never thought my savior would be the sexy woman next door- the one I can’t keep my mind or eyes off every chance I get.

My Review:

In Ryker, the first book in the San Francisco Shockwaves Series, Lind delivers a sweet and short sports romance that will leave you wanting for more.

For Ryker Jorgensen, not being able to be close to his daughter has made it difficult to see her as much as he can due to his career. Having signed a multi-year contract with the Indianapolis Eagles didn’t protect him from the new expansion draft. He only hopes to get picked up by another team and that’s exactly what happens. The San Francisco Shockwaves have picked Ryker as the first official member of the team. With that is relocating to California where he’ll be able to be close to his daughter and hopefully settle down. While there are new changes coming his way, Ryker wasn’t expecting to meet the gorgeous neighbor next door. Avery has a down to earth personality and the fact that she gets along with his daughter is also a plus. So when things start to evolve between them, he has to decide if he is willing to give them a chance to pursue a possible future together.

I enjoyed reading Ryker, the chemistry between the characters is sizzling from the very beginning. Their attraction for each other is instant and so is their relationship. Avery is kind, supportive and also happens to enjoy spending time with Ryker’s daughter. He wasn’t expecting to bond with her right away, but he wouldn’t have it other way. I wish the author could have expanded on some details, but it truly works out at the end. There is no conflict in the story and you get a sweet ending. I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a short read that’s steamy and romantic.

πŸ”– REVIEW BLITZ πŸ”– Hot Shot’s Mistake by Gina Azzi

Hot Shot's Mistake by Gina Azzi

Release Date: May 12th 2022
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Sports

Tangling up with my new physical therapist, Mila Lewis, is a mistake. One I can’t seem to stop making.

When I sign with the Tennessee Thunderbolts, I have two goals: prove my injury hasn’t benched my career and get back to New York.

But then, I meet Mila, the enigmatic therapist tasked with rehabbing my shoulder.

With her long ponytail, professional demeanor, and girl-next-door look, Mila is nothing like my usual type.

She’s better—a good girl with sad eyes and a tragic past our small-town loves to dissect.

With the entire town up in her business, our budding connection is far from simple. I’m not staying, and Mila will never leave.

Deep down, I know I should walk away and let her find the happily-ever-after she deserves.

But I can’t. Not without showing her that it could be me.

And that may be the biggest mistake of all.

My Review:

Hot Shot’s Mistake is the first book in Azzi’s newest Tennessee Thunderbolts Series. This emotional small town sports romance is about second chances and new beginnings that will leave you rooting for the characters until the very end.

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Devon Hardt, a hockey player who had been in New York playing for the Sharks until an injury got him traded to Tennessee. The team is currently going through a massive rebuild and he will be the keystone player for the Tennessee Thunderbolts. But moving from a big city like New York to the small town of Knoxville will take some getting used to and Devon doesn’t know if he is going to stay there for that long. Devon wants to play for a team who is already established and not starting out. So it’s his goal to go back to New York and prove to them that he is still the best at what he does. Until he meets the team’s newest physical therapist that his whole life takes an unexpected turn. He can see that Mila has been hurt in the past and there is something about her that keeps Devon drawn to her from the minute they meet. The more time they spend together, the more Devon starts to understand her past and wants to protect her at all costs. She might just be the one to give him a reason to stay and start a future together.

For Mila Lewis living in a small town has its perks as everyone knows everyone and sometimes that’s it’s a downside as well. The whole town has seen her grown up and was rooting for her to end up with its golden football player. But Mila got hurt in the process and although that happened months ago, the town still hasn’t moved on. Making it difficult for Mila to be able to move on from her past, so when she got the job with the Tennessee Thunderbolts, she knew that it was time to start the next chapter in her life. As the team’s physical therapist, Mila knows that she is going to be working with the team’s newest team player, Devon Hardt. But it’s an unexpected encounter that she has with him that makes her see that Devon is a player with a messed up shoulder and a big ego. He also reminds her of her ex and that’s not something Mila is willing to repeat. Yet, Devon is making it difficult to not say no to a shot with him and she is afraid of getting hurt again.

I really enjoyed reading Hot Shot’s Mistake, the story was sweet and steamy. They are about to start new chapters in their lives, but fate had another plan and brought them together. It’s in the process that Mila is able to let go of her past and is able to fully trust again. On the other hand, Devon didn’t think that he would feel strongly for Mila right away. He wants to earn her trust and he gets to form friendships with his new teammates. The ending was a little bit unexpected, but it worked out for them really well. I would highly recommend checking it out and I cannot wait to read the next in the series! :)

Maybe We Won't by Melissa Foster

Release Date: April 26th 2022 by Montlake

A sexy and soul-stirring novel about love, family, and rediscovering what matters most by Melissa Foster, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe We Will.

When workaholic Boston attorney Deirdra de MessiΓ©res is passed over for a well-deserved promotion, she takes a two-month hiatus to show her boss just how much he needs her and heads home to Silver Island. But beyond seeing her sisters happy, home is not where Deirdra’s heart is. Sure, the hippie is hot, but he drives her nuts. The guy lives in a van with his dog, and he can’t even commit to a solid work schedule. To make matters worse, he’s always around. She needs to get off the island, stat.

{EXCERPT}

Deirdra de MessiΓ©res lay in her childhood bedroom on Silver Island thinking about her upended life. She’d worked her ass off for the last several years as a corporate attorney for a tech firm in Boston, and after her promotion to assistant general counsel last year, she’d thought she was on the fast track to becoming general counsel when the slot opened up—until the GC had a heart attack and her slave-driver boss, Malcolm, had hired a referral from outside the company through his good-old-boy network.

The bastard.

He’d sprung that little nugget on her three days ago, after which Deirdra had announced her two-month hiatus, effective immediately. Everyone had been shocked, including Deirdra. She’d never taken time off and had made herself available in the evenings and on weekends since she’d first started with the company. She’d had to. It was a dog-eat-dog industry, and with six other attorneys on board—four of whom were men—she’d wanted to stand out. Yes, she was well aware that she was putting the company she’d given her all to in a pickle, especially since the new general counsel couldn’t start for another two months. But that was the point. Let them suffer without her impeccable mind handling everything under the sun. She was confident in her game plan and certain Malcolm would quickly see the error of his ways.

Well, pretty confident, anyway. Ninety percent sure.

Okay, seventy-five percent.

The truth was, she’d thought he wouldn’t let her walk out the door after her announcement. But her stern sixty-year-old boss had simply wished her a relaxing time and said she needed it. She’d already received dozens of calls and emails from colleagues who were shocked that she’d taken so much time off, but she struggled with disappointment over the ones that hadn’t come from her boss.

She still couldn’t believe Malcolm had said she freaking needed the break. As if she’d ever produced subpar work? That was a laugh. He’d had nothing but accolades for her jobs well done, and last year’s promotion had been proof of that.

Her frustration simmered to the boiling point. Ugh. She needed to stop overthinking the situation. Fat chance of that happening for a self-professed control freak. Deirdra not overthinking would be as weird as her younger sister, Abby, not seeing the bright side of things or their older half sister, Cait, trusting everyone at face value. Deirdra had a better chance of trying to transform into a bird and fly away.

If only . . .

She and her sisters were quite the trio, and they’d had a whirlwind few months. She and Abby had only discovered Cait existed in the spring, when they’d come back to the island to go over their mother’s will with one of their mother’s best friends, Shelley Steele. While Abby had embraced and trusted Cait unconditionally from the moment she’d met her, Deirdra had been cautious, given that their family house, restaurant, and meager inheritances were on the line. It had taken Cait some time to open up and trust them as well. But they’d gotten through those trials and tribulations and had become close. Cait was a wonderful addition to their family, and like Abby, she’d found solace and love on Silver Island.

Deirdra would not be following suit.

Beyond seeing her sisters happy, Deirdra had no interest in their family restaurant, the Bistro, or in the island on which she’d spent too many years trying to hold together the pieces of her alcoholic mother’s disheveled life, helping to run the Bistro and keep a roof over their heads. Deirdra had fled immediately after high school to attend Boyer University in Upstate New York with her bestie, Sutton Steele, and had finally started living her own life. But self-preservation had consequences, and Abby had been stuck caring for their mother in Deirdra’s absence. That sucked, but what choice had Deirdra had at the time? Stay on the rinky-dink island running a restaurant she resented and putting her drunk mother to bed while her dreams went to pot? Besides, Abby had encouraged her to go, and Deirdra had clung to that support like a lifeboat in her sea of guilt as she’d set out to prove herself to Abby and maybe even to stick it to her mother and show that she couldn’t hold her back.

Deirdra stared at the ceiling, discomfort simmering inside her. She’d thought her resentment toward the island and all that it represented might ease now that her mother was gone, but painful reminders lingered like ghosts in the wind, and the house and her bedroom were filled with them. Abby and Aiden had done a great job of sprucing it up. It was absolutely gorgeous. To anyone else it would seem warm and inviting, but there wasn’t enough paint on the planet to obliterate Deirdra’s painful memories. How many nights had she snuck out the window just to sit on the hill and look out at the water to keep from drowning in her mother’s wake?

Maybe she shouldn’t have come back, but she couldn’t do that to Cait. The start of her impromptu hiatus had lined up with the day Cait and all their friends were fixing up her new tattoo shop. Deirdra wasn’t big on manual labor, but she loved her sisters, and she’d needed to get out of Boston. She was glad she’d come, even if being on the island was uncomfortable. She’d gotten to witness Cait’s boyfriend, Deirdra’s childhood friend Brant Remington, get down on one knee in front of all their friends and propose. Deirdra couldn’t be happier for them, but come hell or high water, she was getting off this island tomorrow and going on a well-deserved vacation, the destination of which was yet to be determined.

The sound of the front door jarred her from her thoughts, and Abby’s giggles floated upstairs. She and her fiancΓ©, Aiden Aldridge, couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Deirdra glanced at her phone. It was almost one o’clock in the morning. In the spring, Abby had moved back home from New York, where she’d worked sixty-plus hours a week as a chef. She’d met and fallen head over heels for Aiden in a whirlwind love affair. Together they’d revived the Bistro, and they were getting married in November.

Deirdra tried to focus on the distant sounds of Silver Harbor sneaking in through the open window instead of the cacophony of laughter, low conversations, and prolonged silences, followed by loud lustful sounds coming from downstairs. If only she were back in Boston. She preferred her noisy neighbor’s stereo blasting classic rock and oldies at all hours over this. At least that she could dance to.

Needless to say, she was a little jealous of her sisters’ love lives. Not that she’d had time for a man, or anything else besides work, these last few years. More noises floated upstairs. She closed her eyes, willing them not to have sex in the living room or, worse, in the kitchen. She had to eat at that table. Oh God, that’s probably what Aiden is doing. She squeezed her eyes shut. Deletedeletedelete!

What was she thinking, staying in her old bedroom? She should have stayed in the apartment over the garage. Why hadn’t she thought of that from the get-go?

A loud thud rattled the walls, followed by more laughter.

Deirdra flew out of bed. She was not going to listen to a play-by-play of Abby and Aiden having sex. She put on her silk kimono and headed downstairs, praying she wouldn’t catch them in a compromising position. She stopped on the bottom step, eyeing the trail of clothing that led past the steps and down the hall to their bedroom. Thank God. Hurrying into the kitchen, she snagged the key to the apartment off the hook by the side door and quietly slipped outside. She crossed her arms against the brisk September air as she climbed the steps to the apartment above the garage.

A streak of moonlight lit a path down the hallway to the bedroom. She took off her kimono and slipped under the warm covers, closing her eyes as she sank into the mattress. Something moved beside her, and her eyes flew open just as that something licked her face. She screamed and jumped out of the bed, flailing for the light switch. A bark rang out, and a cold nose hit her crotch. She swatted at it as she flicked on the lights, illuminating an amused Josiah “Jagger” Jones pushing languidly from the bed as his dalmatian, Dolly, nosed Deirdra’s privates. The twentysomething hippie worked at the Bistro as a part-time musician and part-time chef.

“What are you doing here?” She twisted away from Dolly, her eyes catching on Jagger’s naked body. Holy mother of hotness. Broad shoulders and a few wordy tattoos on his ribs vied for her attention, but her eyes locked on the dusting of dark chest hair trailing down lickable abs, and her thoughts skidded to a halt at the impressive cock dangling between his legs. She couldn’t look away. Her loneliest parts clenched with desire, while her boggled mind tried to make sense of the perfect manscaping, which didn’t fit the image she held of the hemp-clothing- and sandal-wearing, too-damn-laid-back guy for whom she had no patience. Not that she’d ever imagined him naked. Well, not too often anyway. He may not be her type—give her a man in a suit any day—but she couldn’t deny that Jagger was hot, and he had a great voice, the kind that fantasies were made of. His hair wasn’t bad, either: dark, thick, and wavy. The kind of hair she’d love to hold on to while his face was between her legs.

Dolly licked her, snapping her back to the moment.

Holy crap. She was losing it. She was thirty years old, and he couldn’t be more than twenty-four or -five. She needed to get off the island and scratch that particular itch with a man who was more her speed . . . age . . . Holy cow, his body . . .

Dolly licked her again, jerking her mind back into submission.

“Dolly!” She turned away, glowering at Jagger, who was watching her with a big-ass grin.

“Like what you see?” he said far too casually. He lazily raked a hand through his hair, his leather and beaded bracelets slipping down his wrist.
