🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 Text Wars by Whitney Dineen & Melanie Summers {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

Text Wars by Whitney Dineen & Melanie Summers

Release Date: May 13th 2021
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

May the text be with you…

Seraphina Lopez is not your typical airy-fairy astrology fanatic. First and foremost, she’s a businesswoman who happens to have a fascination with the stars. Her lifestyle app, “Live for Your Star Sign” is blowing up, and when she’s asked to be a guest on New York’s most watched Morning Show, she knows the exposure will launch her app into the stratosphere.

Astrophysicist Ben Williams just landed his dream job at NASA’s Goddard Institute, Not only is he heading a multi-disciplinary team in search of habitable exo-planets, he’s also been tapped to be the spokesman for the project. While he’d much rather be crunching the numbers to pinpoint the location of Earth II, he also has to sell the concept to the American public.

When Seraphina and Ben meet on the set of the Morning Show, sparks fly! Sera is there to show viewers how to dress for their star sign. Ben is there in the name of science. Their explosive chemistry sets records for the network’s viewing audience. As such they’re asked to host a regular segment–together.

Ben and Sera hate each other so much, they resort to texting instead of talking when they’re off air (and sometimes on). Yet somewhere in the haze of dislike, they start to realize they have more in common than they thought possible. Is love written in the stars or will it burn up on impact?

Find out in the Text Wars, the third installment of the deliciously funny and romantic Accidentally in Love Series.

Ben

Once I’m dragged off into the Green Room with all the gorgeous women, I sneak a peek at myself in one of the full-length mirrors propped against the wall. Who am I? And where is astrophysicist Ben Williams under all that hair gel and bronzer? This is going to be the single most humiliating experience of my life. Not only am I dressed like a banana for his first day of school, my manhood is on display like it’s about to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. How is anyone going to take me seriously?

They won’t. That’s how.

Not to mention, everyone I know, including my co-workers, will be watching. NOOOO!!! I have to stop this. Panic starts to build inside of me until my chest cavity feels like it’s about to explode.

The bossy woman who made me take my underwear off loudly declares, “You all look great! This is going to be an amazing show!”

I have no idea what she’s talking about, but I don’t have time to ask because someone else comes in and says, “You’re on next. Follow me.”

I tug at these ridiculous pants in hopes they’ll magically grow three sizes and turn black. Or a nice brown, even. That would be good too. Although I don’t know if brown would go with this awful green vest.

Oh, for pity’s sake, Ben, it doesn’t matter! Your pants aren’t going to change color so forget it. Unless …what if I change into normal pants? Yes, that’s the answer. As we march down the hall and pass my dressing room, I decide I’m going to put on my own clothes no matter what anyone says. As I open the door to dressing room three, I hear Serafina demand, “Where are you going?”

She doesn’t wait for an answer. Instead, she takes my hand and leads me to the third spot in line. “There. You’re right behind our Taurus.”

Grinning broadly, she says, “Okay, everyone, you look fabulous. Just get out there and strut your fine selves.”

Strut my fine self? What in the world is she talking about?

“Listen, I-I think there’s been a mistake,” I call out to her.

“I know, the pants aren’t exactly the right fit, but you can really get away with it, trust me.” She boldly winks which causes me even more distress.

“No, not that …”

That Justin intern rushes over and says, “Ms. Lopez, you’re on!”

I try to get his attention, but he disappears, leaving me with no one to ask for help. I wait for what feels like forever, but I’m sure is only a couple of minutes, before Justin comes back and starts to lead us backstage. “When I point to you, walk onto the stage, turn left at the X, strut down the catwalk toward the studio audience. Pause for a count of two, then spin back around and go out the other way.”

He points to the woman in front of me. As she goes, I watch her carefully, trying to memorize what she’s doing. Okay, that doesn’t look so hard. It’s just walking, right? I can walk. Do they introduce all of their guests like this? My confusion equals my horror. I should have watched an episode of this show, so I knew what I was getting into.

When the woman turns back my way, she’s not smiling. Are we not supposed to smile? Do we pout? Yes, pouting seems right. How do you pout?

Turning to the woman behind me, I say, “Does this look right?” then I push my lips out and try to look like I’m really angry about something. Which is actually true because I’m going to lose it on Dev when I see him.

She wrinkles up her nose and answers, “You look like you’re trying to poop.”

Well, that was rude. I’m trying to learn. I give her a glare and she snaps her fingers. “Perfect! Now you’ve got some serious smolder going on.”

“Gemini Guy! Gemini Guy!” Justin whisper-yells.

I spin around, realizing he means me. He points to the stage wearing a completely disgusted look. As I walk by, I hear him say something about models with rocks for brains into his headset. Models? I’m not a model.

My heart is thumping like a rabbit surrounded by a pack of bears as I walk, trying to keep time with the music which is some airy-fairy crap that doesn’t even have a beat. That bossy Serafina person is sitting on a chair next to the show’s hosts talking … about me … it turns out.

“Geminis absolutely love to be the center of attention, almost to a fault. They’re known to be intelligent, passionate, fun, but also sometimes unreliable and are even called flighty.”

I keep walking toward center stage while I glare at her, causing me to miss the big X on the floor.

“As you can see, our model truly is a flighty Gemini. He just missed his mark.”

I hate this woman. I hate her with every cell of my being.

Hal lets out a laugh. “Other way, buddy!”

“Wow, those are some tight pants!” Lacey inserts. “I can see his center of attention!”

The audience laughs as I scramble to find the damn X. It’s actually quite large and is in bright green tape, so it’s pretty hard to miss. I stalk down the catwalk feeling like a piece of poorly-dressed meat. The audience—mainly older women—start to hoot and whistle and, I swear to God, one woman is waving a five-dollar bill at me.

How the hell did I end up here? I have my PhD. I work for NASA.

I head back toward the hosts while that awful Serafina woman talks about astrology. I’m so busy trying to make sure I land on the X this time I almost don’t hear Hal say, “Geminis really must be flighty because our other guest, Dr. Ben Williams, didn’t bother to show up for Star Day. I understand he’s a Gemini as well.”

I stop in my tracks and stare at him, sweat trickling down my back.

Hal looks at me while making a scooting gesture with his hands. “You can go now.”

Astrology girl gives me an urgent head nod toward the exit. Now is my only chance to fix what has gone terribly, terribly wrong. “I’m Ben Williams.”

All three of them stare at me like I’ve just said I’m from planet Zorbits. Lacey gives me a sympathetic look, as though she feels so bad for the male model who’s so dumb he doesn’t know his own name. “Um, no. Ben Williams is a rocket scientist. You’re a model.” She says this slowly like it’s the only way I’ll be able to understand her.

I wait while the audience has a good laugh at my expense while ignoring Justin and some other woman with a headset who are frantically waving at me. “I’m not a rocket scientist.”

Giving me a condescending look, Hal says, “We know you’re not, buddy. But you’re still special, okay? Now, off you go!”

The fashion show music stops, and the audience becomes so still you’d think they were waiting for me to perform a magic show. Off to the side, I see two security guards at the ready. I swallow hard, then keep going. “There’s no such thing as a rocket scientist,” I say. “What you’re thinking of is actually called an aeronautical engineer or an astronautical engineer. Rocket scientist is a dumbed down word for the job.”

“Wow,” Lacey says, blinking at me. “You know a lot about rocket science.”

I shut my eyes at her inane statement, then open them and say, “That’s because I’m an astrophysicist.”

The astrology “expert” (and I’m using that term lightly) seems to be the first one of the three geniuses to figure out who I am. “Wait, if you’re Dr. Williams, why are you masquerading as a male model?”

🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 The Despair of Strangers by Heather Topham Wood {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

The Despair of Strangers by Heather Topham Wood

Release Date: March 9th 2021
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

I don’t know how to do this without you anymore…

The text message wasn’t meant for Alyssa. After ending her engagement to a liar and cheater, she left everything behind, moving into a new apartment and changing her number. She didn’t expect to feel the words reach inside her, picking at scars never likely to heal.

I miss everything about you and I won’t move on. I can’t move on…

The messages kept coming, telling a story of loss that made Alyssa’s pain feel small. When she answered the texts, she formed a bond with Derek. Derek who was not writing to Alyssa at all, but trying to deal with his grief by sending messages to his dead fiancΓ©e.

All day today I was surrounded by people and I felt absolutely empty. Like when you went away, you took all of me with you….

Derek and Alyssa became friends first, then something more developed—a connection that felt like love, but one that left them both scared, uncertain of second chances. Alyssa wanted a future with Derek, but she wondered when Emily’s ghost would finally let him go.

{EXCERPT}

A text message came through, stopping my drunken need to lash out at my mother. D had sent a picture of a glass of champagne with the caption: Celebrating the day you didn’t make the worst mistake of your life.

Why did he have to say the perfect thing? He was a mess just like me. Wanting him was a disaster waiting to happen. Yet, I couldn’t deny his message made me let go a little bit more of my past.

I wrote: Thank you. You don’t know how much that means to me. I’d call you, but I’m drunk and you know how that goes with us.

The phone rang and I rolled my eyes. “Hey, I told you not to call me.”

“You’re overruled tonight. How are you?”

“Fucking terrible,” I said with a humorless laugh.

“I’m sorry you’re feeling like shit, but I’m happy you’re not marrying him.” I couldn’t even articulate the reason I was sad. The union of Alyssa Carmichael and Jacob Albright would’ve been a sin against the institution of marriage.

“Fuck, how can I feel heartbroken that I’m not marrying a serial cheater?” I moaned to him. “I should be dancing around in my underwear and singing girl power songs.”

I heard an abrupt laugh. “I like the visual.”

“Don’t be flirty, I’m drunk enough that I may say something flirty back,” I complained, falling back onto the carpet of my living room. My voice sounded disembodied to my ears, making me feel like I wasn’t in complete control over the words coming out of my mouth.

“What would you say?” he asked.

I grinned to myself. “I would say I think your voice is sexy as fuck too—”

He cut me off. “I actually said sexy as hell.”

“Really? Are you going to cut me off from saying something flirty because of semantics?”

“No, please go on and tell me how fucking sexy you find my voice.”

“Well, you went ahead and ruined it,” I grumbled. “Like you ruined my date last weekend.”

“You had a date? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because, because, because…” I trailed off, my brain feeling fuzzy from the wine. “I don’t have a good reason. Maybe because I kind of like you and when I was talking to this guy, I was thinking things like he’s not funny like D. He’s not smart like him or kind. I barely know anything about you, but I’d rather stay here and talk to you than go on a date with someone who doesn’t find it interesting what the little dot above the lowercase j and i is called.”

He sounded like he was trying not to laugh. “It’s called a tittle.”

“Ugh, see, of course you know that!” I protested. “You’re supposed to make me like you less, not more.”

“I like you too. And that’s why I wanted to take you out tonight to forget about your wedding. But you’re not ready for that yet. I get it.” He was right, I was holding back.

“What if you don’t find me sexy in person?” Drunk Alyssa wouldn’t shut the fuck up. I would really have to cage her up from now on. Because my admission made it clear I had more than friendship on my mind.

“That’s what you’re worried about?” I could tell he was surprised, expecting the more sensible reasons for us not meeting. Honestly, my attractiveness should’ve been the least of my worries. My main concern should’ve been the tragic messages he had written his dead fiancΓ©e. However, I had crappy self-esteem and I wouldn’t pretend to D I was confident when I was anything but.

“Maybe,” I admitted quietly.

“I think that all these flaws you think you have are in your head.”

I pouted at his response. How could he sound so certain we would find each other attractive? “You’re not worried I won’t find you sexy?”

“God, you’re being fucking cute,” he groaned. After a second, he said quietly, almost indecipherable, “I shouldn’t say what I want to when you’re drunk.”

“Why not?”

“Because you want us to be phone buddies and if I say something that pushes you outside your comfort zone, then you may freak out.”

“Maybe I’m in the mood to be pushed out of my comfort zone.”

🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 Definitely Not Dating by Christi Barth {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

Definitely Not Dating by Christi Barth

Release Date: May 4th 2021 by Tule Publishing
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

It’s a chance to start over for both of them…

Everleigh Girard always dates the wrong men at the worst times. The last debacle cost her a job and an apartment. But thanks to a crazy lottery win, she and her friends have a fresh start restoring a historic inn. Determined to make it a success, Everleigh swears off the dangers of dating entirely. Except…the town’s police chief is distractingly hot. So how much trouble could friends with benefits really cause?

Police chief Matt Halliday always puts protecting his town first. He’s blindsided when his house mysteriously burns down, and grateful his friends rent him a room at their inn while they finish renovations. It’s a great deal. Mostly. It’s hard to resist the very beautiful Everleigh. Love is permanently off the table for him—but lust is definitely on.

After their first red-hot kiss, keeping it casual is impossible. Can Everleigh teach Matt to trust again—especially when he’s keeping a secret that may put him and his new friends at risk?

{EXCERPT}

Matt could tell she’d keep filling the silence with rambling unless he stopped her. Did he make her nervous? Or was she just second-guessing one of the nicest freaking things that anyone had ever done for him?

He put a hand on her upper arm. Tried with all his might to keep it more of a casual tap, and not let it turn into a squeeze or caress. “Sorry. You caught me off guard. I didn’t know what to say. ‘Thank you’ isn’t enough. This is all way beyond thoughtful.”

Her cheeks pinked up. The flush was adorable.

It made him wonder what else could make her flush like that. And then Matt cursed his one-track mind.

“Oh, it was no big deal.” Everleigh shrugged both shoulders.

No. He couldn’t let her dismiss such a meaningful gesture. Or not understand what an impact it’d made on him.

So Matt stroked his hand up to her shoulder. Did the same on the other side, as well, to prevent her from another shrug. And if his thumbs made contact with creamy skin due to the wide neck of her tee, well, he didn’t regret it.

“Stop. It was unnecessary. Took time and effort from your packed day. It was considerate. And I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. You made me feel like this really is a place I belong. That’s exactly what I need right now. Somewhere I can feel anchored.”

“Well, good. I’m relieved. I just wish there was more I could do.” Everleigh licked her lips. “To make you comfortable.”

Matt was a lot of things. A police officer. Lieutenant Commander in the Coast Guard Reserve. Son. Boss. Friend.

But he wasn’t a saint.

It had been a hell of a rough week. And it was only Wednesday. A drop-dead gorgeous woman was at 11 out of 10 on the flirt scale. If Everleigh wanted to make him feel better, what kind of a chump would he be to resist?

“Oh, I’m plenty comfortable.” Matt moved his hands up the sides of her neck until they framed her heart-shaped face. “Let’s see if the two of us can move that needle up to something way better than comfortable. For both of us.”

It wasn’t as far down to her lips as expected, because Everleigh stood on tiptoe to meet him halfway. This was no tentative first peck. No cautious easing into things.

Matt knew what he wanted. And Everleigh seemed just as eager.

They skipped over all the first kiss slowness. They skipped about five minutes ahead. Matt took her mouth like it was already his. Because she offered it so willingly. Because she molded her tight, lithe body against his.

Everleigh tasted faintly of…strawberry ice cream. And an inherent sweetness that was all her. There was warmth. Pliable softness, yet also a firmness as she returned his kiss. Equal want, equal giving. Which made it the perfect kiss.

They were swaying in tandem, almost like an unheard melody played. Or maybe it was just their pulses syncing up.

Matt tilted her head to the side a bit more. Then he unleashed the desire he’d been working so hard to ignore since their first meeting.

His tongue swept into her mouth. Immediately, hers danced and twined around his. Teasing, just like Everleigh herself. Fun, sweet, but with a backdraft of heat. Like one of those jalapeΓ±o margaritas with a kick that made you crave more.

Matt wanted so much more.

{EXCERPT}

“I want cockporn,” Lena wailed.

“Don’t we all,” I muttered under my breath, then looked around the crowded supermarket, hoping nobody had heard her. “Not today, SΓΆtnos. We still have some at home.”

“But I want—”

I clamped my hand over her mouth and speed-walked my way to the checkout, hoping Luca wouldn’t join her out of sympathy. He was two years older, but hadn’t outgrown the tantrums yet.

She didn’t like having her shriek interrupted and her little face went red with anger. But I’d rather deal with my daughter’s wrath than once again be the talk of the town. We made it outside in record time, Lena wailing the whole way, Luca holding his hands over his ears.

I was running late, my shift starting in less than twenty minutes, and I still had to drop my kids home and drive to work. After wrestling them into their seats and dumping my bags in the trunk I hightailed it back to the house.

Lena made sure we knew her displeasure at not getting any popcorn for the duration of the drive. My friend Stella was sitting on the front steps waiting when we pulled up.

“Sorry we’re late,” I greeted her, unbuckling the little hellions. She watched my kids for me on the nights I had to work.

I couldn’t really afford a babysitter, so when she offered, I had to put my pride aside and let her help. She was my friend—one of the few I had—and I just couldn’t do it on my own anymore. I worked two jobs, barely keeping my head above water, and needed any break I could get.

My day job was a virtual assistant, something I could do from home while watching the kids. Luca had recently started preschool, so I only had Lena most of the time. My second job was waitressing at Pepper’s, a strip club. It paid well, but the hours sucked. I never thought I’d end up where I was.

“Don’t worry, I only just got here. Mason dropped me off,” Stella said, cuddling Lena to her and holding Luca’s hand. “But aren’t you going to be late for work?”

I checked the time on my phone and sprinted up the steps. Definitely going to be late if I wasn’t ready in the next three minutes.

πŸ”– BLOG TOUR πŸ”– Oliver by Brenda Rothert {REVIEW}

Oliver by Brenda Rothert

Release Date: April 27th 2021
Pages: 175
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Sports

Daphne

I knew who I was before Olivier Durand came along. Despite growing up among the privileged elite, I never cared about corporate ladders or dream weddings. I proudly wear the label of social justice warrior. Until a car accident changes everything overnight. A video goes viral: Chicago’s Hottest Bachelor, billionaire Olivier Durand pulling me from my burning car. When he sets his sights on me, the whole world is watching. He can chase after me all he wants, but my answer will be the same: I loathe the ultra-wealthy. Even when they’re handsome, persuasive and...I have to admit, charming. It’s a hell no from me, though. Until suddenly, I’m not sure I’m the woman I thought I was.

Olivier

Now I know how the players on the NHL team I own must feel. Relentlessly hounded. Once the video of me pulling a woman from her burning car goes viral, privacy becomes a thing of the past. For whatever reason, Twitter has collectively decided this woman and I should become a romantic thing. A hashtag combining my name with hers is trending daily. Absolute nonsense. But then I meet her, and realize Twitter got it right. Daphne Barrington is beautiful, funny, brilliant and sweet. Now I just have to convince her to date me. Easier said than done. She’s maddeningly stubborn, and my deep desire to be with her soon has me writing massive checks. Not for jewelry or cars, but to charities. Winning Daphne’s heart is going to cost me, and I’m not sure even I have enough money to do it.

My Review:

Oliver by Brenda Rothert is the ninth book in the Chicago Blaze Series, this second chance at love sports romance is entertaining, sassy and swoon worthy.

Oliver Durand has it all, the looks and wealth to attract any woman he could possibly want. As a billionaire tech company owner, Oliver loves the challenge of turning around struggling companies and he has been very successful at it. It is with that success that he is able to acquire the Chicago Blaze, the NHL hockey team. He is proud of what he has been able to accomplish with the team and in his other businesses that he has mantra that’s never failed him - always be willing to walk away. A mantra that’s about to be tested and change his life forever.

On his way to a meeting, he witnesses a car flipped over and in flames. From the chaos surrounding the accident, there is someone inside the car and on instinct he rushes over to see if he can help. There is an unconscious woman inside and he risks his life to pull her out, before falling unconscious himself. It would take a few weeks later for Oliver to find out how a video of him rescuing the woman has gone viral. There is even a hashtag with their names and fans all over the world wanting them to be together and he has to put an end to it. Nothing could have prepared him for the pull that he feels for Daphne Barrintong. She is like no one else he’s ever met before, she is outspoken, stubborn and wants absolutely nothing to do with him. He has always been willing to walk away, but he can’t seem to do that with Daphne. He wants to make her his no matter how long it takes to get her to accept that they might just be perfect for each other.

As the daughter of a US Senator, Daphne Barrington grew up in privilege environment, always surrounded by the nicest things money could buy. But despite her upbringing, she wants nothing to do with the wealth that her family has. Having majored in social work, she works at a nonprofit clinic that serves the homeless. She is a proud social justice warrior and after witnessing how privileged her parents are and out of touch with the wold around them, Daphne doesn’t want to follow their steps. But Oliver saved her life and she is willing to thank him in person and walk away. Yet, things change when he asks her out and she declines his offer. She is still finding her way after her breakup with her ex-finance and the accident that she is just not ready to jump into another relationship. Daphne quickly learns that Oliver doesn’t give up easily and soon he is donating money to charities and volunteer at soup kitchens just to be with her. It’s the more time they spend together and a turn of events to make her see that there is a lot more to Oliver than his wealth.

I truly enjoyed reading Oliver, it was entertaining and fun to read. On the outside both Oliver and Daphne might look like they have it all, but their backgrounds are different. Oliver has worked really hard to get to where he is and he has reached the success that his parents never had. On the other hand, Daphne might have grown up in wealthy environment, yet working at a nonprofit allows her to see things in a different perspective. They have so much chemistry and they balance each other out. It is an age-gap story, Oliver is older than Daphne and it’t not an issue in the book. Although we get a good ending, I wish the author could have given us a more detail look into their future, it would have the ending a little bit better. Other than that, the story was steamy and romantic. I would highly recommend it if you love sports romances, it will not disappoint! :)

**I received an advanced copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.**

My Rating:

Grace knew seeing RJ would be awkward. It’s also intense…and red-hot! But she can’t afford distractions from her big break. This story will launch her journalism career to new heights, a dream she chose over RJ years ago. Still, she would rather work with him than against him… Except working together in paradise makes it impossible to ignore the tropical temptation at play!

As their explosive chemistry and rekindling feelings reach a fever pitch, RJ and Grace must decide—can second chances last, or is their desire on a deadline?

He tried blinking repeatedly, hoping that when he focused his gaze again, he’d be mistaken, but that hadn’t worked. Now the air froze in his lungs, causing his chest to constrict, and one strangled word tumbled from his lips. “Grace?”

She took a step back, her mouth opening slightly, then closing without a word. That’s how they stood for the next…he didn’t even know how many seconds had passed, and he didn’t dare speak again. As if she’d figured that out, she cleared her throat and finally spoke. “Hello, RJ.”

No, this couldn’t be. Was he sleepwalking? Hadn’t he just thought about his past relationship? Yes, and he’d pushed that memory way back to the place he’d buried it for the last ten years. Only now, it was right here, just a couple feet away from him.

Grace Hopkins. His Grace.

The first and only woman he’d ever loved, the woman he’d wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Dragging a hand down his face, RJ shook his head as if that were going to clear all this away. She was still standing there wearing very short shorts that showed off the rich mocha complexion of her long, gorgeous legs. A white T-shirt fit perfectly against the curve of her breasts and a gold heart pendant dangling from a choker necklace brushed over the hollow of her throat.

“It’s good to see you again,” she said when it seemed she might be the only one capable of speaking at this time.

Memories tangled and fought inside his mind. Grace had been his everything. She was the first and only woman to claim his heart. A heart she’d held so tightly in the palm of her hand that she’d been able to crush it with one, simple word—no. Muted pain rested in the center of his chest.

He hadn’t seen her since that awful night years ago, but now she was here. It was Grace’s voice he heard, her smile he saw as her lips tilted slowly. She eased an arm from behind her back to wave her hand at him as if they were long-lost friends. He didn’t know what to say or do, which was uncharacteristically strange for him. Trying to get his mind right and act like he had some semblance of brain function, he gripped his phone tightly in one hand and nodded.

“What are you doing wandering around out here in the dark?” It wasn’t the most pressing question at the moment, but he was still working up the nerve to ask the other one.

She shrugged, shifting her weight from one foot to the next, and dropped her arms to her side. “Going for a walk, which actually seems like the same thing you were doing.” He should’ve expected the quick and snappy response. It was her signature and matched her ambitious and flirtatious personality perfectly. She loved to talk. Where some women might like cuddling after sex, Grace had been a talker. Those were the nights he’d learned so much about her. Unfortunately, the one time he’d needed her to be chatty, she’d clammed up and walked away from him for what he thought was going to be forever.

He had to ask her. It made the most sense that this next question come, he just didn’t know how he was going to feel about her answer. “It’s been a long time.” He dodged the bullet again.

“Yeah. It has.”

“You look…um…you look—” He noticed something else that made this entire scenario stranger. “Is that a vibrator?”

🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 Up for Seconds by Melissa Chambers {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

Up for Seconds by Melissa Chambers

Release Date: April 27th 2021 by Perry Evans Press
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

He won’t get in her head again…

Tori:

Jack Massey broke my heart. He was jealous and possessive. We were all wrong together—too engrossed, too greedy for one another…like we were each other’s fix.

We made no sense. He’s a stuffy, number-cruncher from a wealthy family, and I’m a hot mess from a trailer park. We’d never work long-term.

He says he wants me back. He needs to let the past stay behind us. I’ve worked too hard this year to get over him. I’ve thrown myself into my work with the kids at the resort. I’ve nurtured friendships with my amazing co-workers. I even tried another relationship. Though Jack’s never left my head or my heart.

Jack:

I screwed up. I’ve paid the price this past year. I quit drinking and became obsessed with my job and working out. I’ve not so much as looked at another woman. Tori’s all I’ve been able to focus on, even after a year

I want her back. It’s not going to be easy. We come from different worlds, and she makes sure I know it at every turn.

I’ve never failed at anything in my life except for my relationship with her, and I don’t intend to lose at that again.

Welcome to Destiny Dunes, where the only thing hotter than the Florida sun is the romance between this resort's employees. Each book in this steamy series focuses on your favorite romance tropes. Once you enter the gates of Destiny Dunes, you'll never want to leave!

{EXCERPT}

Our conversation takes us all the way to Jack’s luxury SUV. He opens the door for me, and I get in, knowing I’ll probably never feel like I belong in a car like this. But I start to get a little more comfortable in it this second time around. When he slides into the driver’s seat, I ask, “Where are we going?”

“I want to take you home to my place, but I know better.”

I desperately want him to take me there and directly to his bed. But I want to make him take me out on at least one date before we jump into sleeping together.

“What about a movie?” I say.

“That’s cool. Which one do you want to see?”

I rub my forehead, trying not to say the next words I know I’m going to say. “We can just watch one on your couch.”

“Okay,” he says, a smile trying to get through as he chews on his lip.

“I mean watch a movie,” I say.

“I mean it, too.”

He pulls into the parking lot of his building, and when we both get out of the car, he takes my hand as we walk toward the door. There’s something so possessive about the way he holds my hand, like he’s showing the world that I’m his.

He lets us inside the secure building, and we head to the elevator. We wait for it in silence, still holding hands, and I feel the tension building between us like a pot of water on the verge of boiling.

We get on the elevator, and he hits the button for his floor and then turns to me.

I look away with a giggle. “Don’t even think about it.”

“I didn’t do anything,” he says, looking ridiculously innocent with his dark eyes and his five-o’clock shadow.

We exit the elevator and he lets us in his apartment. “This is a blast from the past,” I say. His place always makes me feel so adult. He had it professionally decorated in sleek lines and gray tones, which is a stark contrast to the resort-issued dΓ©cor of my own place.

“Do you want water to drink, or do you want something else?” he asks. “I have beer and wine.”

“I’ll just take water, please.”

He settles in next to me, handing me the water. “Do you know what you want to watch yet?”

Being here in this apartment with him sitting right next to me on his couch is almost more than my nervous stomach can handle. “It doesn’t matter,” I say, unable to pull my gaze away from his.

He takes my bottle of water from me and sets it on the coffee table in front of us. He slides his hand underneath mine. “Thanks for trusting me enough to let me bring you back here.”

My heel taps on the floor without my permission. He puts his hand on my knee, stopping the rapid movement. “You don’t have to be nervous around me, Tori. You are totally running the show here and you know it.”

I point to his chest. “You say that, but it doesn’t always feel that way.”

He clasps his hand around my finger and kisses the tip of it. “Whatever you decide you want to happen between us, I’m all for it.”

I close my eyes. “Why have you made me stop hating you? It was so much easier that way.”

He runs his fingertips across my cheek and then around to the back of my neck. Every time he puts his hand back there, my body melts like a block of ice in a sauna.

πŸ”– RELEASE BLAST πŸ”– Wright with Benefits by K.A. Linde {REVIEW}

Wright with Benefits by K.A. Linde

Release Date: April 27th 2021 by K.A. Linde Inc.
Pages: 313
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

A feisty stand alone friends with benefits romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde. With new characters set in the bestselling world of the Wrights, this is a perfect jumping on point for new readers!

I shouldn’t have hooked up with my one night stand... again.

To be fair, I was having the worst day of my life. I was sure that nothing else could go wrong.

Then in walks Jordan Wright.

We have a heated history, and I’ve been avoiding him. Not least of all because he’s a hundred percent my type with those big brown eyes, a ripped body, and his blisteringly broody charm. I said I’d never go near him again.

But he’s there for me when I need him. And well, old habits die hard.

Only problem?

I’m leaving in a matter of months, and nothing is going to change my mind.

Maybe in the meantime, I can still have my Wright...with benefits.

Narrated by Erin Mallon and Joe Arden

My Review:

K.A. Linde delivers yet another hit in the Wright Series, Wright with Benefits is an emotional and steamy friends-to-lovers romance that will leave you wanting for more.

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Annie Donoghue, a medical student in Lubbock, Texas. It’s her last semester of medical school and Annie is not having a good day, everything is going wrong. From her house getting flooded to having to fix an issue with a professor’s retirement party. Yet, little did she know that her day was about to get worse the minute she bumps into the one-night stand she had with non other than Jordan Wright.

It’s been three years since they’ve met and Annie is still mad at him for not telling her that he was going to come back to Texas even after telling her that he was not coming back at all. He fractured her trust, but when he offers to help her, she can’t turn him down and soon they are crossing that line again. There is something different this time around, Jordan now lives in Texas and knowing that they’ll be seeing a lot more of each other they decide to come up with an arrangement of their own. She’ll be leaving to do her residency soon and Annie is not interested in having a relationship so they decide to have a friends with benefits arrangement without realizing that once giving in to their needs, feelings will develop once again. Annie has always had feelings for Jordan, but soon things start to change the minute her ex comes back to town and when shocking news threaten their future together.

When Jordan Wright sees Annie for the first time, he is taken by her beauty and confidence. Once she introduced herself all bets were off and he wanted to be with her knowing that their time was limited. Running the Canadian branch of Wright Construction, Jordan’s career is important to him as well as his family. So when it came to his mom and brother to move back to Texas with the rest of the Wrights, he is there to make sure they are settled until he sees Annie again at a family gathering. They have an explosive night together, but he left and it’s been a while since they’ve been able to talk again. Moving to Texas was a huge change for him and while he is busy working on a new business venture with his brother and cousin, Jordan still can’t get his mind off Annie. She fits seamlessly with him and the more time they spend together, the more he realizes that he doesn’t want to let go. It would take a turn of events to put his feelings on the line and he’ll have to decide if he is strong enough to let Annie go or fight for her when the time comes.

I’m so glad Linde brought us back to the Wright Series, I loved the previous books and this was no different. From the character development to the storyline, Wright with Benefits had it all. There is this sizzling chemistry between the characters that had me hooked from beginning to end. We also get more background into why Annie decided to become a doctor and why it’s important to her that she does. Having lived in Lubbock her entire life, she dreams of living somewhere else and she doesn’t want to have any strings attached by having a relationship. Jordan supports her decision as he is also busy with his career. Neither of them expected to fall madly in love and they have to face obstacles coming their way if they are going to have any sort of future together. Linde bring us a steamy romance full of emotions! The ending had me rooting for the characters and although I wish the author could have elaborated on some things, the ending was still great. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series, highly recommend it! :)

**I received an advanced copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.**
