🔖 REVIEW 🔖 The Crash by Skye Warren & Amelia Wilde

The Crash by Skye Warren & Amelia Wilde

Release Date: July 11th 2022
Pages: 61
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Suspense

Carter Morelli works alone, but his orders are clear. Pilot the small aircraft carrying the renowned geologist to a remote island. Except the plane malfunctions at a crucial moment.

June Porter wants to stay on solid land. She doesn’t want to fly, but it’s the only way to get to the dig site. Then her worst fears come true.

A heavy storm. A swift fall from the sky. And a heart stopping crash.

An emergency landing leaves them stranded.

A shadow moves through the trees. They aren’t alone in the jungle.

As the prequel to the Deserted Island Series, Wilde and Warren have teamed up to deliver a page-turning and sizzling start in The Crash. This glimpse to the suspenseful romance is a must-read!

For Carter Morelli being a Biology Professor at Oxford University has given him the freedom and flexibility to travel to remote places. He likes working alone, but a perk of the mission is that he gets to fly his very own plane. Carter is to escort the new wildlife photographer hired by the Biology Department to Mauritania for three weeks. All to bring awareness to the way their search programs protect rare species around the world. He assumes that June Porter is someone bookish with a particular style, but the minute she walks through the door Carter knows that he is doomed. June is beautiful, lively and sweet. It irritates him how vulnerable and exposed she is to the world. Finding out that she has a phobia of flying makes him want to protect her even more. His plans are quickly changing and going off course. Until the plane starts to shake, leaving him wondering if they’re going to make it out alive.

I cannot wait to see how the story unfolds, there is already a lot of secrecy, chemistry and suspenseful moments that had me at the edge of my seat. Carter is the James Bond superhero that we all need! I’m officially intrigued and I can’t wait to read Force of Nature. I would highly recommend checking out the prequel! :)

🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 The Crash by Skye Warren & Amelia Wilde {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

{EXCERPT}

It’s a sunny day. Fluffy white clouds in a blue sky. No turbulence jostles us again. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to fly. It’s perfect, except for the sense of foreboding.

The engine stutters. It’s not precisely wrong, but it’s not precisely right.

“Carter? What’s happening?”

“Nothing.”

It’s not unprecedented. Engines make noise. They’re mechanical. It happens. I check the gauges. Nothing. It’s a small plane, but top-of-the-line. Well-maintained. I checked it over, tip to tail, when I arrived at Heathrow. Nothing was out of order then.

Nothing should be broken now.

Another stutter. This one’s bigger. Fuck.

The fuel gauge swings down toward empty, ticking by line after line.

My entire spine chills. That’s a malfunction. That’s a fucking problem. We’re dumping fuel on a delay, out over the ocean, almost like…

Someone planned for this to happen.

Fuck. Is that what my handler was calling about? How would she know something is wrong on the plane, thousands of miles away? I reach for the landing gear controls.

They try to engage. They fail. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

What’s happening is that the landing gear are stuck halfway open.

Worse, I don’t trust the navigation equipment.

The paper map in the panel above my head resists coming out, but I force it. Open it. Check my bearings one last time. Trust them one last time.

Angle the plane in a slightly different direction.

Off the flight plan, but toward the only land within range on the map.

What the hell is going on? I’ve logged over half a million nautical miles. This has never happened before. The plane drops. A few hundred feet before I can steady it. June gasps, clapping a hand over her mouth.

And then the engines cut out.

It’s silent in the sky. Wind skims over the fuselage. My heart pounds in my ears. I ignore all of it.

Because we’re going down.

There’s nothing to keep this plane in the air.

Not a prayer in the world could keep us flying without engines.

“We’re going to land.” It’s the truth and nothing but the truth. There are no other choices. It’s land the plane or die. “Brace yourself.”

“No,” she breathes.

It’s only a whisper of breath, but I hear it. I feel it, brushing over my skin. I’m tuned in to her. Into the plane. Adrenaline floods my veins, making me tuned into the fucking universe. And every single signal is telling me that we’re fucked.

A patch of green in the ocean comes into view. It looks impossibly small. Too small to land on, much less reach, but as we hurtle forward, it gets larger. Becomes an island. The island I saw on the map.

That’s it.

Our only chance at survival.

🔖 REVIEW BLITZ 🔖 Along Came You by Claudia Burgoa

Along Came You by Claudia Burgoa

Release Date: July 12, 2022
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

From USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Claudia Burgoa comes this billionaire workplace accidental pregnancy romance that’ll leave readers laughing and swooning!

What happens when you break the cardinal rule?

I’m good at following rules.

Like, don’t sleep with your hot employees. That’s a good rule.

At least I was until that night. I blame the champagne and the tuxedo he wore.

There are several reasons why I shouldn’t be attracted to Elliot McPhee.
  1. He’s emotionally unavailable.
  2. He’s in his mid-forties—too old for me.
  3. He’s my employee.
  4. He’s jaded after a disastrous divorce.
  5. He’s leaving soon.
But he has gray eyes, and a deep velvety voice…did I mention he looks like Joshua Jackson?

I can’t resist.

It’s just a one-night stand before he leaves.

Except, things get complicated.

We’re talking two bright pink lines complicated.

Did I mention he has no desire to commit?

So, we agree not to try.

Except, we can’t keep our hands off each other.

Then I find out he’s not who I thought.

He’s so wrong for me. So why do I still want to create a family with him?

Along Came You is a forbidden age gap romance involving a secret billionaire and an accidental baby. Get ready to laugh, swoon, and be seduced by sexy billionaires willing to please their women!

My Review:

Not having read any other books by the author before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading Along Came You. Needless to say, Burgoa manages to deliver an emotional and steamy second change romance worth adding to your TBR list.

At the beginning of the story we get to meet thirty-two-year old, Fern Spearman, who runs the Spearman Foundation and JS Charities. Her vision is to build a community with affordable housing outside the city. But after reaching out to the biggest construction company on the west coast, North Bay Construction, Fern gets rejected even before pitching her idea to the CEO. Frustrated and devastated, Fern walks into a busy coffee shop and gets offered a seat by a handsome stranger. She can see that he is older than her, but his kindness quickly wins her over. She tells him what happened at North Bay Construction and before she knows it, Elliot is offering to help her with her project.

There is very little that she knows about Elliot McPhee, as if he is holding back information from her and her siblings. But it’s the more time she spends with him that the more Fern starts to see a future with him. The only issue is that Elliot McPhee will be leaving her soon and she doesn’t know how much it’s going to hurt once he does. Yet, it’s the minute they cross the line of no return that neither one expected their lives to truly change forever. As secrets get reveled, Fern will have to decide whether she wants to give them a change or walk away before it’s too late.

Elliot McPhee doesn’t do relationships or stays in one place for too long. But the minute he sees Fern, he is drawn to her right away. There is something about her that calls to him and the more she tells him about her project, the more he wants to offer his services to her. Elliot knows that he won’t be staying in town for long, the itch to move on is constant. After having gone through a tremendous loss in his life, Elliot can’t seem to let go of his past and it still haunts him everyday.

The Spearmans have embraced him as one of their own and the feelings for Fern are heard to ignore. There is a chemistry and attraction between them that is undeniable. Leaving her would be the best option, but no matter how hard he tries, Elliot can’t seem to stay away from Fern. The feelings intensified when he finds out that she is pregnant and it’s from that day on that he vows to make her see that he might just be it for her.

Along Came You was truly a sweet and swoon worthy read. Not only do we get to see Fern and Elliot’s relationship grow, but we also get to see them interact with their families as well. They both have to lean on each other as they go through the series of obstacles coming their way. In the end they have to learn to let go of the past in order to have a shot at a happily-ever-after. The ending fit them very well and it leaves you wanting for more. :)

🔖 BLOG TOUR 🔖 Queen of Hearts by Alta Hensley {REVIEW}

Queen of Hearts by Alta Hensley

Release Date: July 5th 2022 by Dangerous Press
Pages: 168
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Dark

No matter how far I run, Nick Hudson finds me.

I'm a pawn in a twisted game of power and revenge. And he's a masterful player.

He's going to hold me and hurt me, protect me and punish me. In a dangerous world of wealth, decadence, and sin, I have no choice but to sink into to the arms of my enemy.

There's a price to be paid, though. I must surrender control to enter this new wonderland of seduction. And I must learn to find strength for the fight that's coming. Being a Morelli has never been so dangerous.

The warring Morelli and Constantine families have enough bad blood to fill an ocean, and their brand new stories will be told by your favorite dangerous romance authors.

WARNING: This book is intended for readers eighteen years old and over. It contains material that some readers could find disturbing. Enter at your own risk...

My Review:

“I will sit with you in the dark.” - Mad Hatter

As the second book in the Wonderland Trilogy, Queen of Hearts by Alta Hensley is an addicting and page-turning scorching romance that will leave you waiting for more.

The story picks up right where it left off in King of Spades with Lyriope Bailey making the hard decision to leave Nick Hudson before he gets caught in the middle of the Constantine and Morelli war. As the bastard child of Bryant Morelli, all Lyriope wanted was to get to know the family that she desperately wanted. It’s soon enough that she realizes that being a Morelli is dangerous even for her and asking Nick Hudson for help should have solved her problems. Yet, being involved with Nick means that he wants something from her that only she can give. What she got in return for being with him is to see the Nick that not everyone gets to see.

Leaving for Italy should have put distance between them, but she shouldn’t have underestimated Nick. No matter how far she runs, he is right behind her. She has caused him pain and she is going to pay for what she put him through. There is a different side to him that she is about to see, the possessive one that is ready to claim her as his. Bailey is ready to meet him at every turn and it’s just when they’re ready to give their relationship a shot that a new obstacle comes their way. One that could threaten to tear them apart for good.

I absolutely loved reading Queen of Hearts! We get to see Lyriope and Nick’s chemistry heighten to another level in the second book and see them start to fully trust in each other. We also get to see a new side of Nick, a dark and possessive side that wants to claim her as his. The tattoo scene was my favorite! The ending was unexpected, a totally twist in events that had me at the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read the conclusion to the trilogy! A must-read!

🔖 REVIEW BLITZ 🔖 Brawler's Weakness by Gina Azzi

Brawler's Weakness by Gina Azzi

Release Date: July 7th 2022
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Sports

There’s only one woman I truly care about: my daughter. Until Maisy Stratford flounces into the front office of the Tennessee Thunderbolts with a heartfelt smile and a tray of baked goods.

As the Bolts’ newest hire, Maisy is optimistic, enthusiastic, and a goddess at manifestation.

Everything I’m not.

Known as Brawler, I’m a gruff, quiet, rough-around-the-edges, NHL defenseman. I haven’t dated in decades. I’ve never been married and my daughter’s a twenty-one-year-old mischief maker. I don’t know how to talk about feelings or place my trust in the hands of a woman. Even one with a heart of gold.

With my daughter Lola egging me on, I finally ask Maisy out.

But I don’t want to be her rebound; I want to be her forever. Even if I don’t know how to tell her that. Even if she’s not ready for me.

If I’m being honest, I’m not ready for her either.

My Review:

Azzi delivers a heartwarming and swoon worthy second chance romance in Brawler’s Weakness, the second book in the Tennessee Thunderbolts Series.

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Maisy Stratford who is ready to start her new job in human resources with the Tennessee Thunderbolts hockey team. After the constant belittling of her intelligence and comments about her weight at her previous job, Maisy decided to part ways and start a new chapter in her life. Yet, it’s on her way to work that her boyfriend breaks up with her over text and a shocked Maisy bumps into another hockey player, dropping the cupcakes that she had baked for her new office in the process. She is humiliated and that’s exactly when a familiar hockey player, Axel Daire, gets her out of the mess.

Having met through mutual friends before, she has always seen Axel as a giant of man. He is gruff and growly. But it’s the compassion in his eyes that almost breaks her and she is touched when he kindly gets a dress that she’s always wanted to get. All her life, Maisy had to endure comments from her mom or men of being too much, but not in the right way. Axel looks at her differently, he is not there to judge and it’s for the first time that Maisy truly feels cared for in her life. It’s evident that she likes being around Axel, but she is ready to put herself first and is not sure if she is ready to start a new relationship right away.

As the defenseman for the Tennessee Thunderbolts, Axel Daire doesn’t date or has serious relationships as his first priority is being a dad. Until he finds out that Maisy is newly single and for the first time lets himself think about the possibilities between them. The need to protect Maisy is strong and the more time they spend together, the more he starts to trust her with his past. He can sense that Maisy is starting to feel the same way, yet there is a part of him that is hesitant to fully integrate her into his private space and doesn’t know what to do. He has been told that he deserves to be happy and Maisy truly makes him feel that way, but he just hopes he can convince her to give their relationship a shot before it’s too late.

I throughly enjoyed reading Brawler’s Weakness, I loved the dynamic between the main characters. Axel is truly kind and overprotective when it comes to Maisy. He sees her for who she is and that’s something that she likes about him. Axel is rusty when it comes to dating and he doesn’t want to mess with Maisy, but he is putting a lot of pressure on himself in the process. Whereas Maisy is newly single and ready to start a fresh, not thinking that she would like having Axel around a lot more than she thought she would. We get cameos from other characters and we also get to see the relationship that Axel has with his daughter. In the end they both have lean on each other, learn to communicate as well as trust in one another if they want a shot at a happily-ever-after. I would highly recommend checking out this book and I cannot wait to read what Azzi has in store for us in the next book in the series! :)
