🌟 REVIEW BLITZ 🌟 A Royal Mistake by Piper Rayne

A Royal Mistake by Piper Rayne

Release Date: March 31st 2020
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

He’s not your average Joe from the corner bar.
He’s the heir to the crown.

I should know, I’ve followed him for years.
Not in a stalkerish way. Magazines and online gossip blogs are fair game when you’re royalty. But I do know every detail about him, down to the brand of boxer briefs he wears.

All my studying of the man who plays a starring role in my dreams pays off when I win a dinner with him. As if that wasn’t enough, he barters a deal with me that has him moving into my spare guest room.

I forgot that fairy tales don’t exist though because just as I’m about to get everything I want, including the prince, I find out there’s someone in Prince Adrian Marx’s life I don’t know—his fiancΓ©e.

My Review:

A Royal Mistake is the second book in The Rooftop Crew series, a story about new beginnings and lots of swoon worthy moments to keep you wanting for more.

At the beginning of the story we get to meet Sierra Sanders, a twenty-seven year old journalist who has a bit of an obsession with royalty. It’s due to the various amounts of reading that she knows everything there is to know about Prince Adrian Marx, or so she thought. It would take winning a date with the prince to change her life forever. Sierra has always put her career first and when she finds out that there is going to be a promotion to become anchor at her job, she knows that she needs to think ahead. Meeting the prince gives her an insight to the real man behind all the pictures and articles she has read on him. Their chemistry is undeniable, so it becomes easier for her to let him be her roommate for the next two months in exchange for a candid story on him. This should have been her ticket to success, but the more time she spends with him, the more she starts to fall in love with him.

Prince Adrian Marx of Sandsal loves enjoying time with his friends and has no intention of becoming king. In fact, he thinks that going on a date with a mysterious woman for charity is a waste of time. His family has been more than accommodating in indulging his “finding yourself” phase as he runs around the world without taking on more royal duties. But they’ve had enough. The royal family is about to be exposed to a royal scandal and he is the only one that can help them from scrutiny. When he finds out that Sierra is a journalist, he knows that she will write about him and it’s his job to give her the right information. Yet, he wasn’t expecting to like being with her so much. He is immediately attracted to her caring and feisty personality. He knows that he has to go back home eventually and this time he is willing to spend the next two months of freedom before his future changes forever.

Not having read the first book in the series, I didn’t know what to expect before A Royal Mistake. Needless to say, the characters were relatable and entertaining to read. I found myself swooning over the characters right away. It’s their instant chemistry that had me reading nonstop until the very end. Prince Adrian definitely has an adventurous life, but he can also be caring and kind. Sierra is feisty and knows about what she wants and fights to get it. She has a truly emotional story herself and it was nice to see Adrian be there for her. The relationship that they have with secondary characters made the story that much more fun to read. I love the twists in the story, but I wasn’t thrilled with how fast it ended and how it ended. It looks like the story is interconnected with the rest of the series so I wouldn’t be surprised if Adrian and Sierra make future appearances. All in all, the story was great read and if you love a good royal romance then I would highly recommend checking out A Royal Mistake. :)

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

The complete New York Times Bestselling serial, now available in one book!

My cock has an appetite.

A huge and very particular appetite: Blonde, curvy, and preferably not a fucking liar...(Although, that's a story for another day.) As a high profile lawyer, I don't have time to waste on relationships, so I fulfill my needs by anonymously chatting and sleeping with women I meet online.

My rules are simple: One dinner. One night. No repeats.

This is only casual sex. Nothing more. Nothing less.

At least it was, until "Alyssa"... She was supposed to be a 27 year old lawyer, a book hoarder, and completely unattractive. She was supposed to be someone I shared law advice with late at night, someone I could trust with details of my weekly escapades.

But then she came into my firm for an interview--a college-intern interview, and everything fucking changed...

🌟 RELEASE DAY BLITZ 🌟 Let’s Get Physical by Cassie Cross {EXCERPT}

Let’s Get Physical by Cassie Cross

Release Date: March 24, 2020
Series: Love Is... Book 2
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Corinna McKnight is a chronically single girl in need of toned abs and a hot date for a wedding that her highly successful, deliriously happy lifelong frenemy will be attending. The wedding is only six weeks away and she doesn’t have much time to make it look like she has her life together. Luckily, her best friend’s boyfriend owns the hottest gym in town and sets her up with Noah, the best personal trainer he has on staff.

Noah Cutter is at a pretty good place in his life. He has a job and he loves working for his best friend, Hunter. Noah is in high demand, mostly for his talent, but sometimes for his body and Hunter has one very firm rule: no fooling around with the clients.

It’s an easy rule to follow until he meets Corinna, who makes him want more out of life and leaves him straddling the line between breaking a promise and betraying his heart.

Let’s Get Physical is the standalone second book in the Love Is…series!

{EXCERPT}

I look down at the napkin in my lap to keep myself from saying something that I might wind up regretting.

Noah notices.

“What?”

“It’s just…what is wrong with me?”

“There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re beautiful and funny, and—”

“And I have the worst luck with men. It’s not this guy necessarily, because he seemed kinda smarmy when I talked to him, but it’s just, like, impossible for me to find a good guy? And it’s not just now, it’s…months. Years. I’m always finding men who can’t commit, who are flakes, who have issues I can’t even begin to address. I even went out with one guy five times before I found out that he was married. It’s been a non-stop steady string of badness since…well, since you actually.”

The second I register the words that came out of my mouth, I clamp my lips together. I went a bit too far there, unfortunately.

Noah caught on. It would be difficult not to. “Me?”

“Forget I said anything.”

“Kind of impossible to do that now,” he says, and I can tell he’s not going to let this go.

“I had the biggest crush on you. We went to Centerville for the summer for years and you were just Noah. And then, one year, I set eyes on you when we pulled up at my grandparents’ house and you were Noah. I think you were mowing the grass. I looked at you, and things felt different. There might’ve been cartoon hearts flying around you at the time, I can’t remember.”

He laughs as he leans in close, like I’m telling the most intriguing story in the world.

“I started tagging along with you and Mike more that summer. I was positive you were going to get tired of me; I know Mike was.”

“I never got tired of you,” he admits. “I made up reasons to see you when Mike wasn’t around.”

About Cassie:

Cassie Cross is a Maryland native and a romantic at heart, who lives outside of Baltimore with her two dogs and a closet full of shoes. Cassie’s fondness for swoon-worthy men and strong women are the inspiration for most of her stories, and when she’s not busy writing a book, you’ll probably find her eating takeout and indulging in her love of 80’s sitcoms.

🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 Rise of the Mage by Keary Taylor {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

Rise of the Mage by Keary Taylor

Release Date: March 24th 2020 by Keary Taylor
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal

College is hard—classes, homework, bullies. But, being the daughter of renowned professors, I grew up at Alderidge University and was on track to have an easy start to my freshman year. Until I met Nathaniel Nightingale.

Aloof and mysterious, Nathaniel’s hands were covered in scars that told me he had a violent history. He started asking questions about my own, and then dark secrets in our family lines collided after a strange discovery in the library. We found words with power, and they unleashed abilities in the both of us that had been lost to the world.

Turns out, the witch trials weren’t entirely the product of mass hysteria. As far as we can tell, almost every mage was wiped out – killed for their knowledge and their capabilities. And now I have to wonder if my mother’s disappearance is related.

This is dangerous. It’s feels impossible. We have the weight of an entire lost race resting on our shoulders.

But we’ve got this. Together, we’ll bring it all back. Together, we’ll resurrect magic.

{EXCERPT}

“Did you know that while the Salem witch trials were the last and only here in America, that there is still official litigation against witchcraft in parts of the Middle East?” With those long fingers of his, Nathaniel opened the book and flipped a few pages. He opened to a section and handed me the book, pointing to a particular passage. My eyes scanned it, searching for what he wanted me to see.

It was a list of the names of the men and women who were killed at the Salem Witch trials. And there, almost to the bottom, was the name of Mare McGregor.

My blood chilled, seeing her name there, listed among the accused and executed. I knew her name. I knew her story, as much of it as had been recorded by her son, my great-something-grandfather, Collin. But it was always so stark, the reality that she’d been hung. Killed.

“The entire world has a history of witch hunts,” Nathaniel said, turning to the bookshelf again. He grabbed another book, opening it to a section. “Egypt and Babylonia.”

He took another book, opening it and laying it on his desk. “Across the Holy Roman Empire.”

My heart rate picked up. Sweat broke out on my palms.

Still, Nathaniel grabbed another book and another. “Russia, India, and even Africa to this day.”

I watched Nathaniel, who stood with his back to me. His shoulders were tight. His head was bent low. His words were growing lower with each one spoken.

Gingerly, almost reverently, he reached for another book. The red binding was worn, and there were no words left. Gently, he grabbed it, and he held it to his chest, his arms carefully wrapped around it.

“It is estimated at around 60,000 people were killed for being witches over the course of three hundred years, in western Europe and central Europe alone. Tens of thousands more in Asia, countless more in Africa. Miraculously, only nineteen here in America.”

There was a deep sound rushing in my ears and it took me a moment to realize it was the sound of my own blood. There was a heavy feeling of anticipation and uncertainty in my gut.

Nathaniel turned back toward me, and in his eyes, I saw something big.

“I cannot confirm that I am a direct descendant, but there was a William Nightingale killed during the Lancashire witch trials in England in 1612.” His eyes were fixed on me, but I could tell, he wasn’t seeing me. He had fallen into history, into ancestry. “There are thousands of stories of accusations and trials and deaths.”

“Yes,” I said, wanting to bring us back to a place that wasn’t so dark. I wanted everything to go back to being light. “And they were the result of mass hysteria and superstition. They wanted something to blame for bad harvests and hard financial times. A lot of innocent people died.”

Nathaniel’s focus returned to me. Three seconds passed, and finally he gave a little nod, but it didn’t seem like a complete act of agreement.

He stepped forward, and gingerly, he laid the book in his arms on the desk. I recognized it then as the one from the library, the first day we had met.

“You said you cannot read Gaelic,” he said in a low voice. He opened the book and looked down at it, gazing at the words with wonder. “But maybe you should try again.”

“Nathaniel, I-” I began to protest. But he looked up at me and begged me with his eyes.

So, I crossed to the desk to stand beside him. I looked down at the words, remembering the silly experience with it before, now weeks ago. I could recognize letters, as I’d concluded before, some of them were of Latin origin. But I couldn’t read any of it.

“I haven’t learned Gaelic in the last few weeks, Nathaniel,” I said, looking over at him. He looked at my face intently, as if he were waiting for something spectacular to happen. “I still can’t read it.”

Gently, he reached for my hand, wrapping his fingers around my wrist. I didn’t know what he was doing, but I decided I trusted him enough to humor him.

He brought my hand forward, and gently, he set my fingertips down on the edge of the pages.

It was as if I’d blinked, and it turned into a different book.

One moment it was in unreadable Gaelic. The next, it was in perfect English.

I blinked, leaning in closer to the book.

A simple matter of will and asking, levitation is one of the simplest forms of magic.

My eyes read the line without a second of hesitation or translation.

I ripped my hand back from the book and took half a step back.

Instantly, the book was once more in a language I could not read.

The room was utterly silent. So quiet it pushed in on my ears and the only sound was my own heartbeat.

I felt Nathaniel’s eyes on me. I felt meaning filling the air. I felt anticipation. But also, momentous confusion.

Cautiously, I reached my hand forward again. Filled with fear and wonder, I touched the edge of the pages.

In levitation, most users have certain affinities, whether they be metal, earth, wood, life forms, etc.

Because it was the scientific method of proving a hypothesis, I removed my hand one last time and the words became unreadable.

I touched the pages, and my eyes relaxed as the words became readable.

“You can read it, too.”

I looked up at Nathaniel and startled when he stood there with his right hand held up, his fingers generally pointed at the ceiling. And floating around his fingertips there were three paper airplanes, swirling, dipping and rising through the air. And that air around his hand had this…shimmer. Almost as if glitter floated in the air. But I couldn’t quite focus on it. And the air seemed more…golden.

“What kind of trick is this, Nathaniel?” I asked, my words hoarse and quiet.

I’d never seen this look in his eyes. They were filled with…excitement. And hope. He shook his head. “It’s not a trick, Margot,” he said. He waved his fingers, and the airplanes set off toward the opposite end of the solarium. Gently, they floated toward his bed, flying in a circle over it. They followed each other in a line, doing a flip in the air and then flying over to the couch, where they dipped down low, soaring beneath it, before they aimed back at Nathaniel. There, they swirled around his fingers once again before they gently floated down to the table and landed on the book. “It’s in my blood. And I believe it’s in yours, too.”

{EXCERPT}

“I’m quite capable of understanding sexual attraction, Mr. Drake.”

“Adam,” he said quietly, his eyes lowering to focus on my mouth. My heart skipped a beat in its frenetic pace.

“Adam.”

“I want to give you one more thing to think about.”

“And what is that?”

He leaned closer, his head approaching mine. I didn’t have the time to step back nor, I think, the willpower to do it even if it had occurred to me. His mouth met mine in a firm, sure kiss.

I’d been kissed before, but it had been years, now, and I’d never, ever been kissed like this. Our heads moved together for long minutes and I felt like I hadn’t breathed in a lifetime.

Everything was spinning around me and I—I was spinning too, delirious with want. Like a woman drowning in the middle of stormy sea, in desperate need of a life raft. That sea was Adam Drake and he was pulling me adrift, stranding me in some strange and forgotten land.

When finally he ended it, he pulled away so slowly that I could hardly tell our lips had parted until cool air passed between us. It was then that I saw that he was as affected as I was—flushed cheeks, his breath coming fast, his eyes dark and drunk with desire.

My Review:

From the eye-catching cover to the intriguing synopsis, The Pretend Prince was such a fun and romantic book to read. Not having read any other books by Kim Karr before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading the book but it will certainly leave you wanting for more.

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Ophelia Hart, a former royal blogger turned reporter for Wimbeledon Life. With promises to write stories that truly matter, Ophelia takes that job only to discover that her boss wants her to write an expose on Prince Julius. Her boss thinks that Julius’s playboy ways and refusal to get married matter to the legacy of the crown. So it’s up to Ophelia to get closer to the prince in order to get the information that she needs to expose him. What no one knows is of her past relationship with Prince Julius and how that changed her life forever. She still thinks about him constantly, but Ophelia has hurt him enough. Yet, her boss isn’t giving her a choice in the matter or she’ll lost the job that she always wanted. It’s until she sees him again after so many years apart that new emotions begin to appear and she’ll have to decide if how much she is willing to risk in order to keep Prince Julius by her side.

Prince Julius Monaco of Wimberly has everything that he could possible want and he is about to make his late grandfather’s dream into a reality. To take Monaco Unlimited, his family’s company, public and he doesn’t need bad publicity. Yet, his family is no stranger to enemies and one in particular is out to get him. Julius is willing to do anything to stop the threats that he is getting over his past, until he literally runs into his past that things start to change. Ophelia hurt him three years ago by betraying his trust and even though they have to work together in order to protect each other, he is not sure if he’ll be able to trust her again. But the more time they spend together, the more he wants to keep her for good. He’ll have to decide if he move past what she did to him in order to start a new relationship or walk away altogether.

This was such an entertaining and romantic story, not to be missed! I was hooked from the very beginning and it had a nice twist that you don’t see in many books. There are a lot of stories out there that take inspiration from tv shows and this story takes inspiration from The Bachelor. But it’s focused more on what happens after the show and mainly Julius’s royal duties. As the grandson, he is third in line to the throne so he doesn’t feel the need to do his royal duties. Until things change within his family and he has to be more involved. He is close to his grandmother and she was such a great character to read, it made the book that much more entertaining. While there is a lot of steamy and romantic scenes, we also get to learn more about the characters’ pasts and how they compliment each other very well. The ending was sweet and will leave you wanting for more. I would highly recommend checking out this book, especially if you love The Bachelor and royal romances. :)

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

My Rating: 4.5/5
