Simmering chemistry wars with the need for survival.

My Review:

In The Crash, the prequel to the Deserted Island Trilogy, Warren and Wilde did such a great job introducing the characters and setting up the scene of what’s to come in Force of Nature.

We were introduced to Carter Morelli, a Biology Professor, who has been given the assignment to fly a wildlife photographer to Mauritania. The Biology Department hopes of capturing their research and bring awareness to their rare species programs. But the minute he meets June Porter, Carter’s life is turned upside down. June is nothing like what he was expecting, she is too good something that he is not. She is also a distraction when he is specifically on another mission of his own. Yet, finding out that their plane was tampered with launches him on another mission, to be able to get out of the island alive to be able to find out who wanted them dead. There is danger and beauty all around him, but more importantly they are not alone on the island and he has to protect June at all costs before it’s too late.

For June Porter, landing on a tropical island wasn’t on the plans as Carter was supposed to take her to the research facility. There are too many mysteries around Carter that makes it harder for June to fully trust him. Him telling her that their plane was tampered with just adds to the secrets that he’s been keeping from her. June has had a difficult childhood, some underestimate her and she is determined to find out who Carter really is.

I throughly enjoyed reading Force of Nature, the plot line took me by surprise, but it also added a unique element to the story. I still got the mystery vibe and the chemistry between the characters if off the charts. We get to learn more about each separately and the ending was truly unexpected. I’m intrigued, I cannot wait to read the next book in the trilogy, would highly recommend checking it out!

My Review:

Warren delivers a sizzling continuation in the One for the Money Trilogy, Two for the Show will leave you swooning and rooting for the characters until the very end.

The story picks up right where it left off in One for the Money, where a turn of events truly turns the lives of Eva Morelli and Finn Hughes upside down. No matter how much Finn wanted to avoid any thought of having kids or getting married, his worst nightmare is coming true when he finds out that Eva is pregnant with his baby. Finn is used to knowing what his future is going to look like and has seen firsthand what his family’s inherited illness can do. So it pains him to know that he won’t have a lot of time with his child once the illness catches up with him. For Eva, knowing that Finn doesn’t want anything to do with their child breaks her heart and that makes her even more protective of the baby. No child of hers is going to feel the pain of being unwanted. Eva will have to make the choice of fighting for a future with Finn or walking away altogether.

The story just keeps getting better! Warren has written a story that will captivate you from beginning to end, this being the second book in the trilogy truly dives into the biggest hurtle that the main characters have to go through. Both are equally loyal to their families and they are aware of their responsibilities. For Finn, he has the tremendous responsibility to keep his family’s company going and he is still responsible for his younger brother. So when he finds out that Eva is expecting, he wants to protect her even more. Yet, there is a huge part of him that doesn’t want to allow himself to find happiness and the hope that Eva is bringing to his life. I throughly enjoyed the second characters and cameos from characters in the Midnight Dynasty world. I would highly recommend checking out this story, you will not regret it! :)

🔖 REVIEW 🔖 The Watcher by Melanie Moreland

The Watcher by Melanie Moreland

Release Date: September 15, 2022
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Suspense

To the world, I’m Damien DeSalvo, businessman.

I own a security company, ensuring the safety of my clients.
But behind the scenes, I’m known as the Watcher.
I stay hidden, overseeing the secrecy of Hidden Justice—
those who rid the world of its scum, one bad guy at a time.

Until the day she stumbles into my path and one kiss changes everything.
Stalked and terrified, Raven Bailey needs my protection.

I need her.

Can I find the man threatening the woman I love before he finds her?
We’re playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse.

And I’m determined to win.

My Review:

The Watcher, the fourth book in the Men of Hidden Justice Series by Melanie Moreland is a steamy suspenseful romance that will keep you at the edge of your seat until the very end. A definite must-read!

As the owner of Elite Security, Damien DeSalvo has worked really hard to make his security firm a very successful business. On the outside, he is a businessman planning to expand Elite Security’s clientele and staff. But behind the scenes, Damien uses his skills to run all the programs and servers for Hidden Justice. A secret agency that works to get rid of those that have committed serious crimes. Although Damien is no longer part of the crew, he works in the background to facilitate their success and has been given the name of The Watcher for that. So there is no surprise when he rushes to a woman in need, looking wet from the rain and terrified. She begs him to play along with her and kisses him. Taken back, Damien kisses her back and a part of him doesn’t want to let go. He knows that he needs to earn her trust and immediately tells her about his security firm and how highly trained he is to keep her save. Raven reveals that she’s been stalked and Damien knows that she needs his protection. Yet, the more he learns about Raven, the harder it gets to not be around her. He has never felt that way before, there is an undeniable pull that keeps bringing them together and Damien will not stop until her stalker is out of the equation for good. Nevertheless, his world is dangerous and he can’t put Raven at risk, not when he is starting to fall for her.

After a devastating break up, Raven Bailey made the decision to move to a new city and start over as a teacher. Yet, being alone made it difficult to make new friends so going into a website for other singles in the city looking for a potential friendship didn’t turn out the way she hoped it would. From one innocent meet up, her date slowly started to become more possessive and stalkerish. Running into the bar and kissing the mysterious stranger was the best decision she would have done. No one has paid attention to her concerns the way Damien is, he treats with respect and truly wants to protect her. But no matter how much she wants to lean into his help, Raven doesn’t want him to get hurt. It would take a turn of events to threaten a chance at a potential future together.

I loved reading The Watcher, Moreland always knows how to deliver a great story with alpha heroes ready to protect their heroines at all costs. Damien and Raven’s connection is instant from the very beginning and it just progresses after that. He knows that he is the best man to protect her with his skills and knowledge. We get to know him in previous books in the series and now we got see a cameos from previous lead characters as well. They are all in when it comes to protecting their loves on and the men of Hidden Justice come to help when Damien is in need. Raven is smart, caring and the last thing she wants is to put anyone else in danger. But she learns to trust in Damien and he doesn’t let her down. Filled with plenty of steamy and romantic scenes, the story also brings in a lot of mystery and suspense to keep you wanting for more. I would highly recommend checking out The Watcher as well as any other books in the series, they will not disappoint. :)

🔖 REVIEW BLITZ 🔖 Rookie's Regret by Gina Azzi

Rookie's Regret by Gina Azzi

Release Date: September 8, 2022
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Sports

Lioness. That’s the first word that comes to mind when I see the brilliant redhead selling cupcakes at the hockey arena.

With the soul of an artist and the spirit of a nomad, Bea Turner is gorgeous, quirky, and refreshing.

She’s also my teammate’s little sister.

As the Tennessee Thunderbolts' Rookie, I should steer clear. I’m here to play hockey and provide much-needed financial security for my family. To do that, I need to avoid distractions.

Bea doesn’t just distract me; she flips my world upside down.

One bad joke has me pursuing her. One date and I crave more. Calling her mine? Well, now I’m dreaming of a future.

The life of a hockey player — trades, travel, uncertainty — isn’t for the heart of a creative. Bea desires adventure and possibility, not early morning skates and strict exercise regimens.

When I’m thrust into a situation at odds with Bea’s dream career, I know I can’t hold her back.

If we’re meant to be, we’ll make it work. But what if we’re not?

What if my greatest regret is letting my lioness go?

My Review:

In Rookie’s Regret, the third book in the Tennessee Thunderbolts, Azzi delivers a relatable and swoon worthy sports romance that will leave you wanting for more!

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Beatrice “Bea” Turner, who after receiving an art degree in Nashville, she is moving back home to take care of her grandmother. With the vision to start her own pottery business, her brother Beau who happens to play for the Tennessee Thunderbolts, is able to get her a job selling cupcakes at the arena. Beau quickly warns her to not get tangled up with a hockey player, but she tells him that no one is going to be interested in a quirky person like herself. She would usually be covered in clay and dust, it’s her happy place and what keeps her centered. There are hopes and dreams that Bea has for herself, but her family is her priority so coming back home is what she feels that she need to focus on now.

Until one day she meets Cole Philips, the minute he walks up to the Primrose Sweets pop-up stand, Bea is immediately taken by him. He is funny and telling her jokes that make him stand to her. There is something genuine about him that Bea likes and quickly finds herself telling him all about her. Yet, things change the minute she finds out that he is actually a Thunderbolt player. Their chemistry keeps pulling them together so much so that they decide to give their relationship a shot. But it’s Cole’s inability to communicate with her that starts to become an issue and when she gets the opportunity of a lifetime, Bea needs to decide if continuing a relationship is worth it or not.

For Cole Philips, playing for the Tennessee Thunderbolts has allowed him to be able to help his family financially. After losing his parents, it was his uncle who raised him and Cole wants to be able to provide for his uncle and cousin. Hockey became his world growing up and it gave him an outlet to be free and taught him to never lose focus. It’s for that reason that he has never been a romantic relationship before and avoids confrontations at all costs. But the gorgeous curly redhead selling cupcakes has his attention right away. He is attracted to her and her personality. Although he has a strict routine, Cole makes it his mission to win her over even if it means stopping by the pop-up everyday to buy a cupcake from her. Which it doesn’t take long, it’s easy to talk to Bea, they have a lot in common. Yet, the more he talks to her, the more Cole wants to start a future with her. Hockey has always been at the top of his priority list and he has to learn how to let Bea into his world before it’s too late.

I throughly enjoyed reading Rookie’s Regret, Azzi does a great job telling a relatable story with lovable characters. It’s evident that they both have a lot to learn, they are still finding their way and once they are able to trust each other, they are able to lean on one another after that. We get some cameos from previous characters in past books as well. I really loved all the jokes and how the story wraps up at the end. It fit the characters so well and there is hope for them to start a future together. I would highly recommend checking out this story and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! :)
