"Desperation was a feeling I knew and a feeling I loathed. It made me feel out of control and weak. It was a feeling that drove me to dominance and because I was feeling it now, it drove me to demand what I wanted."

Christine "Ris" Warren is constantly in control. Her career as a public defense attorney demands it. But the aftermath of an attempted murder throws her life into a tailspin, breaking her confidence and threatening her reputation. She finds solace in submission when her ex-boyfriend comes to her rescue, but her need to switch and dominate might just threaten their potential.

Jasper "Law" Haven thrives on being dominant. When two of his favorite women find themselves in need of his kinky discipline, he steps up to the plate to do what he does best. As intimacy grows, old feelings resurface and he is forced to think about what he truly wants in life – and who he wants to share it with.

Will Ris find love and the balance she craves as a switch?
Can Law give up control and appreciate what's truly important?

With open minds, Ris and Law attempt to navigate their complex relationship and fight for a future that neither of them knew they wanted.

This book contains sexually explicit scenes and mature themes. Ris' story features sexual healing that involves kink, dominance & submission, multiple partners (including same sex), and a sex club. It is not a standalone and the books must be read in order. This is book 2 of 2.

Blue

I pushed out a breath rather dramatically, “Oh, boy. Well, I can say with compete honesty that I did not expect this kind of action and excitement this evening.”

He raised an eyebrow at me while I signed and pushed the papers back to him, “And yet you’re still here. It’s intriguing, really.”

“I know, right?” I grinned, “Next.”

“Common Safeword and Consent Policy. This is very important, Blue, especially because you’re new to this world. You’ll see things that surprise you downstairs. You may see things that disturb you or concern you. But I want you to know that our members’ safety is our priority. That’s why all members and their guests must adhere to a common safeword policy. We push limits here, Blue. We skirt the edge of our boundaries, waltz across the line, see if we can push it just a little further.”

Law came alive as he spoke, eyes sparkling with passion. He was telling me about something that outwardly seemed so crude and taboo but explained it all with such poise and conviction. This world was important to him, it belonged to him, and he belonged to it. It chilled me to see that kind of affinity. It gave me goosebumps to listen to him explain these rules.

He continued, “It is possible that someone might say no as a reflex, without really meaning it. For some, saying no is part of the fun. Consent always has to be given explicitly here. And it can still be given even if someone is screaming for you to stop. But it only works if everyone understands and follows the rules and we enforce them fiercely. No one here should ever fear being forced to do something they haven't consented to.”

I watched him in consideration, “Am I gonna need any safewords tonight, Law?”

I saw a flicker of interest brush across his eyes as I immediately realized my tone had sounded inviting. Unintentionally inviting.

I shouldn’t have said that.

Why did I say that?

“No, not unless you consent to putting yourself in that position,” he looked suddenly disappointed, “And as you are happily married and without your husband this evening, I imagine you won’t want to do that.”

“No,” the word tasted bad coming out of my mouth, “I don’t want to do that tonight.”

“Then you won’t, Blue. Not tonight.”

Not tonight?

AUTHOR BIO:

Brynn Ford is an independent author of romance in all of its beautiful and sensually taboo forms. She is a lover of the dark, twisted, and playful and strives to bring the unmentionable aspects of passionate romance into her stories.

Brynn resides in the Midwest with her husband and sons, whom she expects will someday be embarrassed by their mom's books. When she isn't obsessively writing, you may find her binge watching favorite shows while eating far too much junk food or fanatically reading, always seeking to lose herself in the emotional roller coaster of a damn good story.

She is quite the idealist, despite her fascination with the wicked and warped aspects of humanity. Some of her stories may run out of words before a happily ever after, but she's a firm believer that her characters continue to live on outside the pages in the minds of her readers. Stories don't end just because there aren't anymore pages to turn.

🔖 REVIEW 🔖 Frenemies by Emma Hart

Frenemies by Emma Hart

Release Date: January 28 2020 by Emma Hart
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

There are some things you just have to deal with.
Like your hot as hell college booty call moving in next door with his adorable daughter.

The only time we’ve ever gotten along is under the sheets. Old habits die hard because two minutes on my front porch is how long it takes us to bicker.

Not that a little fact like that bothers my healthy, eighty-year-old grandmother and roommate who’s determined to see me married before she bites the dust.

Unfortunately for me, she’s got her eye set on Cameron Black.

She’s barking up the wrong tree. He’s not The One, no matter how much I swoon when I see him with his daughter. I have no intentions of rekindling anything with him—until a rubber spider in my mailbox starts off the mother of all neighborhood prank wars, just like the ones we had in college, and throws me right into his path.

One that leads right to his bedroom…

My Review:

Emma Hart never fails to deliver a great romantic comedy. Frenemies will leave you laughing and swooning for the characters until the very end. Let the war pranks begin!

Imogen “Immy” Anderson had dreams of moving to the city in hopes of being discovered and having her own art shows. But that’s not what happened and she doesn’t regret one single thing about it. Living with her eighty-year old grandmother and running the family business, Art by Numbers, has made her incredibly busy to do anything else. Yet, everything changes when she spots her new neighbor moving in, non other than her college hook up, Mason Black. While they had amazing chemistry in the bedroom, they never made as friends. Nevertheless, her grandmother is insistent that Immy gives him a second chance and will not stop setting them up until they are together.

Mason Black has a very demanding career as a lawyer, but his first priority is his daughter so he didn’t hesitate to move closer to her if it means spending more time together. But he wasn’t expecting to see Immy living with her grandmother next door. It has been years since they’ve seen each other and a lot has changed. But his feelings for her haven’t. He made a huge mistake letting her go all those years ago and he will not stop until he makes her his. Even if they have to prank each other in the process.

Frenemies was such an entertaining read. The characters were all hilarious, specially Immy’s grandmother. She is a cute little grandma with sass. Mason is a great dad to his daughter and will leave your heart melting at the cute scenes between them. Imogen knows what she wants and she also happens to love a good prank. That’s what ultimately brings them closer, but there is the question of whether or not they can move on from their past in order to create a future together. All in all, the story was a laugh-out-loud read and will highly recommend checking it out!

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

My Rating: 4.5/5

Luther is the most beautiful of my captors. Still I hate him more than the others. I hate him so much that the darkness inside me comes alive.

When I started university and moved out of my foster parents’ home, I hoped everything would change. That the nightmares, the visions, the voices would stop, but they got worse.

Scorching hot first book in the brand new ‘WINTER'S THORN’ Trilogy.

Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance.

{EXCERPT}

My gaze is swinging back and forth, shadows everywhere, and I can’t distinguish shapes from the night. Glancing at my feet, I find there are rocks and twigs all over the place. I quickly grab a thicker branch.

Deimos watches me, and he nods approvingly, but he’s scared. It’s in his eyes, in the tightening brackets around his mouth. “Whatever you do, don’t let them bite you. Stay behind me as much as you can, understand? And remember what I said before about going north should anything happen.”

I nod, unable to find my voice. My heart is beating so hard, I can’t concentrate. I nibble at my lip, my hand squeezing the life out of the stick.

Wielding his sword, Deimos steps forward. I hate to admit it in this moment, but this fae is so attractive, especially while holding a sword. The muscles in his arms flex, his chest sticks out, and I’m lost in the sight. That whole protective vibe radiates off him. I’m melting on the inside. It annoys me that he affects me so much, yet I don’t look away.

The snap of a twig comes from somewhere in the woods around us.

I freeze, lifting my weapon.

Two figures burst out of the woods with such speed, I stumble backward. Their skin is pale and blotchy, blood dripping from their mouths. Clothes hang off lithe frames. Their ribcages so pronounced, I want to gag. It pains me to see how scrawny and starved they look.
Deimos lunges toward them in a heartbeat, moving so gracefully and swiftly, I’m left stunned.

Holding the sword with two hands, Deimos slashes it through the air ferociously. The weapon cuts right through the first creature’s neck, the head sliced right off. Blood gushes out from the wound as the body drops to its knees and flops forward with a thump.
I scream, unable to hold it back. I can’t take my eyes off the head rolling away into the treeline.

Bile hits the back of my throat.

More Bloodcursed pour out of the woods.

“Hi.”

I turn my head to the parking lot and find a pretty little girl with light blonde hair, maybe eight or nine, walking my way. For a second I have a hard time answering.

“Hello,” I finally manage.

“Have you seen our heron?” she asks, stopping to look at the water’s edge, her eyes squinting against the setting sun. I automatically follow suit.

“No. I’ve sat here for a while, but I haven’t seen one. Do you see it often?”

I look over and find she’s come around the front and lowers herself on the step. “It’s a great white heron,” she informs me in her melodic singsong voice, keeping her eyes focused on the water. “There are lots of blue herons around, the white herons are more rare, but there’s one who comes here at night to fish.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a white heron,” I admit, following her gaze out on the cove.

“Princess!”

My eyes dart to the main house. All I can see is a pair of arms braced on the railing of the porch. The rest of the man’s body isn’t visible.

“Coming!” the girl yells back, getting up from her perch on my steps. She turns to me. “I have to go.”

“Okay, honey. I’m gonna sit here for a little longer. I’ll keep my eye open for your heron.”

Instead of doing that, I follow the girl’s bouncing blonde hair as she crosses the parking lot to the main house.
