My Review:

Not having read any other books by the author, I didn’t know what to expect before reading Merciless Vow. Needless to say, Johnson blew me away with this page-turning paranormal mafia romance that is a must-read!

For the past ten years, Addie Vane aka Addie O’Shea, has worked really hard to make a name for herself away from her powerful werewolf family. With no desire to be used as a pawn among the werewolf families, she decides to leave her family behind, including her younger brother. Without knowing when she’ll even see him again, Addie focuses on her career as a junior associate at Sterling & Associates. Yet, it’s her intellect and cutthroat business personality at work that her boss admires. But any future career plans are halted the minute Addie gets a call from her father, letting her know that her younger brother has been taken by the Blackwoods after stealing millions of dollars from them. They have made it very clear that they don’t want the money, the Blackwoods want her.

Suddenly Addie is taken back to the place she tried so hard to run away from, but the guilt of leaving her brother is enough to get her to go back to her old world. Meeting Vidar Blackwood completely changes the dynamic between them, he is possessive and wants to treat their marriage as a business arrangement. No feelings are supposed to be involved or so she thinks. Addie will have to decide if staying with helping her new family is worth it in order to save her brother or submit to her growing feelings for the man she vowed to hate.

Every move Vidar Blackwood has always made has been calculated and thought out. He prides himself on catching errors and when a shipment does missing, it’s an error that could cost him millions. So when he finds out that there has been a theft in the family business, he considers it war and Vidar knows exactly who is behind it. Elias Vane has taken from them and to settle the debt, Vidar’s parents want him to marry Addie Vane. He’s always known that one day, he’ll have an arrange marriage like his parents had, yet he wasn’t expecting to meet his match. Addie exudes confidence and power without apology that intrigues him right away. He could take her as an employee with her stellar resume, but it’s her fire that makes the decision for him. She’ll marry him or lost her brother in the process. Little does he know just how much his life was about to change forever.

I throughly enjoyed reading Merciless Vow. Although it was a bit confusing at the beginning, I wasn’t sure where the story was going, but it proved me wrong right away. The tension between the main characters is sizzling and their banter is what ultimately kept me reading. Their marriage might be a business arrangement, but what they don’t know is that they are the perfect match for each other. While Vidar is not interested in a love match, he wants loyalty from his wife. Something that it’s hard for Addie to give knowing the circumstances of their marriage. She guards her trust after the way her dad treated her growing up. It’s easier to focus on her career, but the minute she agrees to marry Vidar her eyes are open to new possibilities as a couple and what they could do if they learn to trust in one another. All in all, this was a great start to the series and I cannot wait to read what happens next. I would highly recommend it! :)

My Review:

As the third book in the Charming Cove Series, Hall delivers a second chance romance and new beginnings in Romance Rules for Werewolves. Filled with humor, wit, curses and steam that will leave you wanting for more!

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Isobel who has been through the ultimate betrayal from her boyfriend of eight years. Now fresh off a breakup, she finds out that her strange grandmother has left her Lavender House in the seaside village of Charming Cove. With nothing holding her back in London, Isobel makes her way to Charming Cove in the hopes to starts fresh. But seeing the state of the house and only having a month to renovate it, is adding a new level of stress to her. The townspeople refuse to get near the house, as they think that it’s cursed or haunted. So Isobel has to turn to her roommate, the brooding werewolf, Rafe, for help. He has made it perfectly clear that he doesn’t want her near him and that he wants her out of the house. But soon walls starts to fall the longer they spend together and it’s when she finds out more about Rafe that makes Isobel want to help him no matter what. They’ve been through so much and it’s their chance at a happily-ever-after.

I throughly enjoyed reading Romance Rules for Werewolves, it was charming and hilarious. The magical town of Charming Cove will transport you to another world, it’s the perfect autumnal read. Though I loved Isobel and Rafe’s relationship, Poa, Isobel’s familiar added a lot of humor to the story. Not only do we get to see their relationship grow, but also we get to see how the town is willing to come together in order to help their own.The ending was perfect and sweet. It was an overall emotional read that I would highly recommend. You will not regret it! :)

Hall delivers a witty and charming paranormal romance in How to Fake-Date a Vampire, the second book in the Charming Cove Series. A definite must-read!

As a newcomer to Charming Cove, a seaside village in Cornwall, Emma Willowby has worked really hard to truly belong in the town. It’s been two years since Emma made the town her home, but it’s taken her time to officially become part of the Aurora Coven. With the stress of not knowing her magical gift and the pressure to be the best witch she could possibly be, Emma takes on her biggest challenge yet. A challenge that if she delivers, it could change her life forever. Little does she know that it would involve the reclusive and handsome vampire, the Duke of Blackthorn. I absolutely loved reading How to Fake-Date a Vampire, is the perfect autumnal and cozy read. The writing was descriptive and completely transported me to the magical town of Charming Cove. The characters were likable and charming as a couple. While Emma is a witch who is still finding her place in town, she soon finds the perfect companion who brings so much wit to the story. On the other hand, Alaric is a vampire duke who has been hurt in the past, he has difficulty trusting again and that comes in the way of their relationship. He has to find a way to let go of the past in order to have a future with Emma. The ending was sweet and it fit their story so well. I would highly recommend checking out the book, this magical romance will certainly leave you wanting for more! :)

The sensation of his lips against mine rippled through me like a shot of whiskey, warming and intoxicating, setting my blood dancing while at the same time making me shiver. My Review:

Brandy and Jones deliver a steamy dark romance in Fate of a Royal, the first book in the Lords of Rathe Series.

After being forced to live among the giftless while attending Rathe University, Knight Deveraux has had a hard time not being able to use his powers. But it’s his second year now and suddenly Knight has been filled with a rage that he can’t control. There is something different in the air, an energy that he can’t explain. That is until he sees her for the first time, a girl that keeps calling to him. He’s never been attracted to anyone as he is with London Crow. She is the only exception, until he finds out that she is his fated mate. A giftless human that he refuses to acknowledge, yet Knight soon finds out that the urge to make her his is a lot stronger. It would take a turn of events to truly change of course of their lives forever.

After ending her relationship with her cheating ex, London Crow is ready to move on. But soon finds herself meeting a mysterious stranger at a party that she can’t stop thinking about him.The energy between the two is magnetic, but just as she is ready to give into him, Knight keeps pulling away. London finds out soon enough about his world and the fact that she is his mate. But there are forces ready to keep pulling them apart, including a shocking secret that neither of them were expecting to find out. 

Not having read any works by Meagan Brandy or Amo Jones before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading Fate of a Royal. Needless to say, the overall idea was what intrigued me the most to this book, but it felt a little flat for me. I know this is the first book, so there is a lot of world building still to come. But the characters themselves didn’t pull in as much the premise did. There is lots of steamy moments in the story as well as twists that kept me reading until the end. It was unexpected and I’m definitely intrigued to find out what happens next. If you like a dark paranormal romance with a twist, then I would recommend checking out this book. (:

Besides excellent hearing, we have a unique sense of smell.” He tapped his nose. “We can smell someone’s blood when they get close. We can tell its purity and the contents of their last meal. For example, if I were to meet with you in two hours, I’d know you had garlic and onion in your meal. It wouldn’t stop me from drinking your blood if I had a mind, but that very scent would tell another vampire that you probably don’t belong to anyone. I’m far too old to worry about having to drink very often, so I don’t keep humans in the house. But younger vampires require a drink more frequently. Even those a century old still keep humans close for feeding.” He shrugged. “They don’t need to; they just prefer the old ways.” He shook his head as if he found that disgusting. Perhaps just uncouth. Either way, it made me feel a little better. I shouldn’t have to worry about him sneaking into my room in the middle of the night looking for a sip. I reflexively rubbed my neck.

He glanced down when his phone vibrated. His jaw clenched, and he held his cup so tightly, I thought it would shatter. Not good news. After a couple long minutes, he took a deep breath and turned to me, returning to our conversation as if never reading his message.

“My point is, where we’ll be going, you’ll need to not only act the part but smell the part as well. Otherwise, no one will believe why you’re with me.”

He stood. “I’m afraid I have something to attend to. Anna will start your training this morning. I should be back this evening for our session. A couple of rules for your stay here. You have the freedom of the yard, garden, and anywhere in the house on the first and second floors. The third floor is completely off-limits. Any questions before I leave?”

I had a dozen, but it was obvious I wouldn’t have his full attention. And I preferred trying to get answers from Anna. “Just one.”

He tucked the phone in his pocket then gave me his undivided attention.

“What am I being trained for?”

He gave me a slow perusal, and this time, it was more heated. The desire to squirm returned. Then, he gave me that million-dollar smile. “To be my human lover, of course.”

What did it mean to dream about the same place? While contemplating that question, I tried to find an opening through the field.

Grabbing handfuls of grass, I pushed and pulled every which way. No matter how much I yanked, the vast wall of swaying grasses remained. Feeling defeated, I thought I would try one last time.

Then he appeared.

“Don’t you ever give up?” he said in the most hypnotic voice. His lips twitched, amused by my efforts.

“Umm …” Stunned to see someone looking at me, I stared at the most perfect, glorious face, and I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

As his gaze continued to pierce mine, he stepped in my direction. Having no other choice, I retreated. He was intimidating, and his authority made me willingly compliant. My heart pounded mercilessly as I wondered what that guy could be doing here.

He certainly fit the description of how I had envisioned the man of my dreams: six feet tall, dark hair, and warm, inviting brown eyes. He was lean but extraordinarily muscular, and his skin appeared to be made of satin.

My face warmed as I admired his body. I wondered if he could read my unclean thoughts or hear my heart racing.

Time seemed to stop as we stared into each other’s eyes—no need for words, just alone in each other’s company.

The tension broke when he spoke. “What are you doing here? Do you want to be sent back like before?”

Hearing his velvety voice again sent pleasant tingles to my core. But send me back like before? Then it dawned on me. It was his voice I had heard in my last dream. Although I felt frustrated and angered by his comments, I tried to stay calm and see where the dream would take me.

“First of all, who are you?” I tried to sound composed. “And what are you doing in my dream?”

Isis ran back behind the wall. She then commanded the illusion of herself behind the far left wall to step through and stare out into the audience with a hand on its hip. It received a collective gasp. To them, it was as if Isis had stepped through one wall on one side of the stage, and then come out of another wall on the opposite side of the stage. She had practiced this many times, but this was the best she had ever pulled it off. It was now time to bring it home…

A pain ran through Isis’ chest. It felt like a mallet slamming against her heart. She tried to take a deep breath, but it was a struggle, like sucking a watermelon down her throat. Mark Rosendorf 's writing is based on the personalities and experiences he has come across throughout his life, coupled with his own wild "if only I could do that" imagination. He is the author of the young adult series, The Witches of Vegas. He is also credited with The Rasner Effect series, a suspense/thriller trilogy published between 2009 and 2012.

Born November, 25th, 1974, and raised in Queens New York, Mark holds a Master's Degree from Long Island University's Human Development and Leadership program. He is a licensed Guidance Counselor for the New York City Department of Education's special education district. He began his counseling career in September, 2001. Prior to that, he worked in the hotel industry.

Mark has also moonlighted as a professional magician. Today, he teaches magic and Illusion to his students in order to teach teamwork while developing their confidence.

Having accomplished his goals of becoming an author, Mark decided on an early retirement from writing. Then, one night, at two a.m., a new and unique story shot into Mark's brain like a lightning bolt, screaming for him to write it.
