🔖 REVIEW 🔖 Ace of Diamonds by Alta Hensley

Ace of Diamonds by Alta Hensley

Release Date: October 4, 2022 by Dangerous Press
Series: Wonderland #3
Pages: 174
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Dark

The winner takes all...

I had her. She was mine. They took her away.

Lyriope Morelli is the dream I’ve been chasing. My obsession isn't gone, my hunger’s not satiated. I won't rest until I find her and claim her again. I won't rest until I've dragged her safely back to Wonderland.

Villains don’t get the happily ever after written for them in the story. And I'm the villain of this story--vicious and calculating, terrifying in my whims. Which is why, when it comes to my queen of hearts…

The game has just begun.

The warring Morelli and Constantine families have enough bad blood to fill an ocean, and their brand new stories will be told by your favorite dangerous romance authors.

WARNING: This book is intended for readers eighteen years old and over. It contains material that some readers could find disturbing. Enter at your own risk...

My Review:

Hensley delivers an epic conclusion to the Wonderland Trilogy in Ace of Diamonds. The final showdown is finally here and it does not disappoint at all. A definite must-read!

Italy was supposed to be their sanctuary, where Nick and Lyriope could actually see a future together. But that quickly went downhill the minute the Morellis and Sidorovs decided to take matters into their own hands by arranging a marriage between Lyriope and one of the Sidorovs. Now the Morellis have taken Lyriope back to Bishop’s Landing, away from Nick as possible. Yet, Nick is not going to give up easily. He will do anything possible to get Lyriope back and fight for the woman he has grown to love.

No matter how much Nick hates seeing Lyriope be used as a pawn between the Morellis and the Sidorovs. She has made the decision to let things play out with her family in hopes that her dad finally sees her as part of the family. It would take a turn of events to make her see who her father really is and just how much her heart belongs to the one who claims to be the villain of the story, but in reality Nick has done nothing but be with her no matter what.

I absolutely loved reading Ace of Hearts, I can honestly say that it’s one of my favorite trilogies. From the characters to the Alice in Wonderland retelling references, this trilogy has it all. We get to see the characters develop and grow closer than ever. Nick is one of my favorite characters, he is just perfectly obsessive over Lyriope and the way he is ready to do anything for her really speak volumes of just how caring he is. The ending will leave you swoon and rooting for them, it’s truly special and not to be missed. I would highly recommend checking out the entire trilogy, you will not regret it! :)

My Review:

“I will sit with you in the dark.” - Mad Hatter

As the second book in the Wonderland Trilogy, Queen of Hearts by Alta Hensley is an addicting and page-turning scorching romance that will leave you waiting for more.

The story picks up right where it left off in King of Spades with Lyriope Bailey making the hard decision to leave Nick Hudson before he gets caught in the middle of the Constantine and Morelli war. As the bastard child of Bryant Morelli, all Lyriope wanted was to get to know the family that she desperately wanted. It’s soon enough that she realizes that being a Morelli is dangerous even for her and asking Nick Hudson for help should have solved her problems. Yet, being involved with Nick means that he wants something from her that only she can give. What she got in return for being with him is to see the Nick that not everyone gets to see.

Leaving for Italy should have put distance between them, but she shouldn’t have underestimated Nick. No matter how far she runs, he is right behind her. She has caused him pain and she is going to pay for what she put him through. There is a different side to him that she is about to see, the possessive one that is ready to claim her as his. Bailey is ready to meet him at every turn and it’s just when they’re ready to give their relationship a shot that a new obstacle comes their way. One that could threaten to tear them apart for good.

I absolutely loved reading Queen of Hearts! We get to see Lyriope and Nick’s chemistry heighten to another level in the second book and see them start to fully trust in each other. We also get to see a new side of Nick, a dark and possessive side that wants to claim her as his. The tattoo scene was my favorite! The ending was unexpected, a totally twist in events that had me at the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read the conclusion to the trilogy! A must-read!

King of Spades by Alta Hensley

Release Date: April 5th 2022 by Dangerous Press
Series: The Wonderland Trilogy #1
Pages: 216
Genres: Romance, Dark, Contemporary

Nick Hudson has a dangerous reputation.

That's what I need if I'm going to survive.

Desperation makes me seek out a ruthlessly powerful billionaire.

I need protection.

He demands my virtue as payment.

I’m falling into a world of luxury and sin.

With every twist and turn, I need more.

Except this is not a man to love.

This is a man to fear.

His obsession grows. So does the threat, until I'm trapped in a world of depravity. I'll need more than Nick's strength to survive. I'm going to need his heart.

My Review:

Not having read any other works by Alta Hensley before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading King of Spades. Needless to say, Hensley has managed to deliver a dark twist to this romance inspired by Alice in Wonderland. A great start to the Wonderland Trilogy!

From the moment Lyriope Bailey walks into the Morelli mansion, she sees that everything around her exudes opulence and power. From afar she can see the Morellis work the room with a confidence and skill that can only be born with. They all represent what she has always desired, including having the Morelli name. Yet as the bastard child of Bryant Morelli, Lyriope doesn’t have the luxury of being part of the family like the rest of her half siblings or having access to the immense family fund. There is curiosity in her for wanting to see her family, but there is someone else that catches her eye at the party.

Nick Hudson is an extremely wealthy and connected man in Bishop’s Landing. There is a mystery to him that attracts Lyriope the minute she sees him. It’s his dangerous reputation that is known in the underbelly of the dark world and Lyriope wants access to his private club, Wonderland. It’s when her life is at risk that she turns to Nick for help. But there is a price for everything when it comes to Nick and he wants her virtue as payment. Lyriope doesn’t realize just how much her life is about to change the minute she signs the contract that will bind her to Nick in every way. As she gets to know the other side of Nick that people don’t get to see, Lyriope finds herself falling for him and his twisted world.

I loved all the Alice in Wonderland references throughout the book! Nick is a villain with a past that has made him who he is, but underneath the persona he portrays there is a kind and protective man that wants to keep Lyriope safe. It’s his job to know everything about everyone in his world and he is the perfect person Lyriope could have asked for help. On the other hand, Lyriope knows exactly what she wants and she is not afraid of some darkness whatsoever. If anything, she is more drawn to it than anything else. But there is an even bigger darkness that wants her and she needs to find out why. This book does end with a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy! I would highly recommend checking it out if you love a dark steamy romance with a twist. :)

Last Resort by Amelia Wilde

Release Date: March 22nd 2022
Genres: Dark, Romance, Contemporary

Emerson LeBlanc lost more than an acquisition. He lost the woman he loves.

There’s no redemption for a man with his past. No future for a relationship built on stalking and kidnapping. At least that’s what he believes. When he meets Daphne again, she’s not a piece of art. She’s a woman determined to paint a new path. For herself. For him. Except the ocean holds more than shadows. It holds danger that could ruin them both.

PRAISE FOR THE COLLECTOR TRILOGY:

"An exquisite portrait of obsession that grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go." - #1 NYT bestselling author Laurelin Paige

"Vivid, seductive, highly-addictive. This steamy thrill ride is a masterpiece. Amelia Wilde's words are hypnotic and I'm dying to devour more of them!" - K Webster, USA Today bestselling author

"Emerson Leblanc is an ocean I happily drowned in, and I can't wait to do it again." - USA Today bestselling author Stella Gray

My Review:

Wilde concludes The Collector Trilogy with a captivating, page-turning and explosive romance in Last Resort. A must-read trilogy!

It’s an unexpected turn of events that forces Daphne Morelli to part ways with the enigmatic art collector, Emerson LeBlanc. After he kidnaps her to add her to his personal collection, it becomes Daphne’s goal to escape at any rate. However, things quickly begin to change as she starts to see a different side to Emerson that only she can relate to. Emerson’s world has turned a different color when he is with Daphne. Yet, no matter how hard he wants her to find someone better for her. It becomes clear that Daphne is not about to let him walk away. But just as they are about to give themselves a chance at a forever, someone closer to Emerson threatens to separate them again. This time Emerson is ready to give whatever it takes to get back the love of his life, before it’s too late.

I truly enjoyed reading Last Resort! The book itself felt stronger than the last two books, where we were slowly getting to know the characters and their intentions. Now the story felt a lot less dark, there is more action and sweeter moments between Daphne and Emerson. There is also a lot more depth in the story as we get to find out more about their families as well and how they might be just similar in a lot of ways. Daphne’s view of her dad changes and there is finally an understanding between at the end. The ending was everything! It worked really well in the story and with the characters. It was a sweet ending and I couldn’t recommend this book enough. :)

🔖 REVIEW 🔖 Sweet Mercy by Amelia Wilde

Sweet Mercy by Amelia Wilde

Release Date: January 18th 2022
Genres: Dark, Romance, Contemporary

Daphne Morelli is trapped in a gilded cage.

She fought to escape her family, only to be caught by a billionaire. Possessive. Commanding. And determined to keep her.

Emerson LeBlanc wants to own the little painter. She's become more than his obsession. She's part of his collection now.

Except she's more perceptive than he'd like. Her artist's eye sees the shadows in him. She paints his pain on stretched canvas.

He's determined to own her. She's determined to escape.

In the end only one of them can truly be free.

My Review:

The continuation to The Collector Trilogy by Amelia Wilde just keeps getting darker. Sweet Mercy is filled with twists and turns to keep you at the edge of your seat.

The story picks up right where it lefts off in Dark Reign, with Emerson tricking Daphne Morelli into trusting him. The minute he saw her, Emerson knew that he had to have her and that’s exactly what he does. Now Daphne is part of his collection, too valuable to be left out in the world and she couldn’t be more mad at him for keeping her prisoner in his own house. But no matter how much Daphne doesn’t want to paint for Emerson, she can’t go too long without painting. As the two start to spend more time together, Emerson starts to let Daphne into his world and she realizes that they might not be so different after all. As a Morelli, she doesn’t share what happens behind the scenes of her family. Yet, Emerson sees the painter that she is and not as a Morelli. Yet just as she is about to fully trust him, a turn of events threatens to change the course of their lives.

I enjoyed reading Sweet Mercy a lot more, we get to know the characters as they reveal their pasts and how that has made a huge impact on them. Emerson sees the world in a different way and it’s a way that only Daphne can really understand. She can sympathize with him and Emerson also becomes protective of her. There is a lot of chemistry and steamy scenes as well. We get a nice twist of events at the end that was bit sad, but I cannot wait to read the last book in the trilogy, Last Resort.

🔖 REVIEW 🔖 Dark Reign by Amelia Wilde

Dark Reign by Amelia Wilde

Release Date: November 9th 2021
Genres: Dark, Romance, Contemporary

Wealthy. Reclusive. Dangerous. Emerson LeBlanc doesn’t enter society much. He only ventures out in pursuit of new art for his collection. It starts with a haunting painting. Then he meets the artist...

Innocent Daphne Morelli is more exquisite than anything he’s ever seen. He becomes obsessed with her. It doesn’t matter that she’s a living, breathing person with her own hopes and dreams.

She’ll be the perfect addition to his collection.

My Review:

Amelia Wilde delivers a unique romance in Dark Reign, the first book in The Collector Trilogy. This dark and twisted story its intriguing from beginning to end.

At the beginning we are introduced to Emerson LeBlanc, a wealthy and reclusive man who is always on the haunt for new art for his collection. He is known in the art world as “The Collector” and only attends private showings. It’s his impeccable eye for art that has paid off as his investments have increased in value. Yet, it’s one piece in particular that has moved him deeply and Emerson is ready to add it to his collection. But he wants to meet the artist and after doing his own research, Emerson finds out that he has seen her before. Daphne Morelli has captivated him and will do anything in his power to acquire her for his personal collection.

The Morelli name holds power in Bishop’s Landing, but Daphne’s family isn’t perfect. It’s full of secrets and constant rivalry with the Constantines. It’s hard to do things on her own when there is constant security watching her every move all to protect her safety. Yet, all Daphne wants is to make her own money and have her own life. So when she finds out that one of her paintings sold for a lot more money than she was hoping to get, she is happy to meet The Collector. She is shocked to see that she has met him before. She is attracted to him and there is a pull between them that she can’t deny. But there is something about Emerson that makes her feel uneasy, the fact that he seems to know more about her than she realized. Daphne knows that she should stay away from Emerson, but the harder she tries it becomes difficult to not give in to him. Until he tells her that he won’t be letting her go as she is now his.

Dark Reign was such an interesting concept to read, the cover really captures Emerson really well. He is this wealthy man who seems to be untouched by anything. He can make or brake an artists’ career and he has set his eyes on one particular person. To him Daphne is not like the rest of her family, she is captivating and innocent. He is able to connect with her paintings and his obsession with her grows the more he finds out about her. I read Leo’s story (the Beast of Bishop’s Landing) and it was nice to see how their story overlapped in certain scenes. It’s told in dual POV, so we get to see and understand both of their perspectives. The ending was unexpected and twisted! It’s a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting to read the next book right away! :)

🔖 BLOG TOUR 🔖 Beautiful Nightmare by Giana Darling {REVIEW}

Beautiful Nightmare by Giana Darling

Release Date: January 13th 2022 by Dangerous Press
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Bianca has finally found her rightful place amid the powerful Constantines. But all is not what it seems in this glittering new world. And Tiernan Morelli refuses to give her up…

BEAUTIFUL NIGHTMARE is the final book in the Dark Dream duet by USA Today bestselling author Giana Darling.

My Review:

Beautiful Nightmare is the explosive conclusion in the Dark Dream Duet. Giana Darling delivers a dark romance filled with shocking twists and turns to keep you at the edge of your seat.

Tiernan Morelli is all about executing a good plan, but he never imagined how his life was going to change the minute he brought Bianca Belcante and her younger brother into his home. Despite growing up hating the Constantines like the rest of his family, Tiernan’s hatred for his own father has grown even stronger over the years. His plan to bring down the Constantines by using Bianca and her brother backfired on him and the need to protect them become his top priority. Which makes Tiernan the enemy now, but it took losing Bianca to realize just how much she has impacted his life and he will not give up until she gives him her heart.

Bianca Belcante has always dreamed of being accepted into the Constantine clan, to finally get to know her dad’s family and embrace them as her own. But things quickly changed the minute she steps foot in Bishop’s Landing. Caught in the middle of a war between the Constantines and the Morellis, Bianca realizes that she is a pawn in their game and what’s heartbreaking to find out is that Tiernan happens to be behind it all. He broke her trust and took a piece of her heart with him. Her little brother still remains at Lion Court and she vows to get him back from Tiernan. Yet, it’s until Bianca finds out more about her dad’s family that she begins to question their motives and what she always dreamed about. She will not stop until she finds out the answers to her questions, but finding out the truth might not be all what it seems.

I really enjoyed reading Beautiful Nightmare, it was intense and mind-blowing! I didn’t see a lot of things coming and that along had me reading non-stop until the very end. I loved the characters, they were well developed and thought out. Bianca’s beautiful nightmare (Tiernan) finally learns to love and be loved. It was nice to see him interact with Bianca’s little brother and with his own brothers. He has something of his own to protect and he makes sure to do that when it comes to Bianca. She is his reason for waiting to change and I loved reading their moments together. There is a bit of mystery/secrecy in the story that made Bianca bold and courageous. For so long she has wondered a lot about her dad and she is able to get closure. While the story was great, I felt like the end was a little abrupt. The story itself could have benefited by adding more about her dad’s will and maybe a glimpse into their future. Needless to say, I would still recommend checking out this duet if you are looking for a good dark romance! :)

🔖 RELEASE BLITZ 🔖 Cruel Princes by Jillian Frost {REVIEW}

Cruel Princes by Jillian Frost

Release Date: December 29th 2021 by Penn Publishing
Pages: 420
Genres: Dark, Romance, Contemporary, Mafia

I hate the princes of Devil’s Creek.

Luca, Bastian, Marcello, and Damian.

For most of my life, no one wanted me… not until they needed me. Turns out I’m the lost heiress to a multi-billion dollar fortune and a pawn in their sick game.

They keep me locked in their seaside estate, completely at their mercy. All four of them are bullies, taking out their hatred for me in the form of punishments, each with their own reason for keeping me around.

I’m sick to want them.
It’s dangerous to need them.

I think I’m finding my place among these depraved monsters.

Except there’s one small problem.
They’re not the only men who want me.

There are far more dangerous men looking for the heir to the Wellington fortune… which means I’ll be staying in their beds and under their protection for the foreseeable future.

Cruel Princes is a DARK BULLY romance about four possessive men and one ruthless woman who will bring them to their knees. The main character will end up with more than one love interest.

My Review:

Not having read any other books by Jillian Frost before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading Cruel Princes. Needless to say, the intriguing synopsis and eye-catching cover drew me in right away. The story begins by introducing Alexandrea Wellington whose life has been changed once again after her grandfather takes her and her brother into his care. He has been able to give them opportunities to start a new life at a price and Alex is not ready to give up her freedom all to marry a Salvatore. She grew up feeling tormented and now the four Salvatore brothers are ready to make her life miserable until the time comes when she has to pick a brother to marry. It would take years later for them to see each other again and this time there is no going back. What surprises Alex the most is to feel attracted to all four Salvatore brothers no matter how cruel they can be. As the only female of marrying age from The Founding Society, she needs to marry a Salvatore, those who are in charge of the Knights in order to ensure their family legacy. With time running out, it’s critical for Alex to accept her destiny until secrets start to resurface and feelings start to grow for those that she didn’t think possible.

I very much liked the overall concept of the story, although it was a bit confusing at the beginning, the story quickly had me hooked. We have Alexandrea “Alex” trying to accept her destiny by getting to know the Salvatore brothers and realizes that they might just have a lot more in common than she thought. It’s evident that all the brothers have a lot to gain by marrying Alex, but it’s only two that need it the most. The Salvatore name carries a lot of power in Devil’s Creek and it’s through their different POVs that we get to understand each of the bothers and their motives. As Alex gets to know them, their chemistry grows and it just keeps getting steamier. There is still a lot that we don’t know and that’s exactly how the book ends, with a cliffhanger leaving you wanting for more. There is so much that happens in this first book as we get familiar with their world and I cannot wait to read what happens next. I would highly recommend it if you love dark romances with a twist. :)

🔖 BLOG TOUR 🔖 Dangerous Temptation by Giana Darling {REVIEW}

Dangerous Temptation by Giana Darling

Release Date: October 26th 2021 by Dangerous Press
Genres: Dark, Romance, Contemporary

He arrives all dressed in black. Diamond cufflinks. A watch on his tanned wrist that cost more than we would ever see in a lifetime of work. He carries a single red rose for my mother.

Months later, Tiernan Morelli lays red roses on my mother’s grave. That same day, he tells me that he is my new guardian.

I should have known from the very start that he had more in common with the thorns than the rose. Now I know the truth: I’m a pawn in his dangerous game of revenge. I was too young and naive. Now it's too late to save myself from his clutches.

I belong to him.

My Review:

Not having read any other books by Gina Darling before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading Dangerous Temptation. Needless to say, this sizzling enemies-to-lovers forbidden romance took me by surprise and had me hooked until the very end.

The moment Bianca Belcante moved to Texas, she never imagined that she would be moving back to
New York City with her little brother and new guardian. She is finally in the city she’s always wanted to be without her mom and Bianca needs to figure out how to navigate her new life with Tiernan. He was her mom’s wealthy mystery man and Bianca never got along with him. In her head no man was going to fix their problems, until her mom passed away and Tiernan was the only one she thought to call for help. Now she is in Bishop’s Landing, living among the wealthiest people which includes the Constantines and Morellis.

There is so much that she wants to know about her dad’s family and get to know them. Yet, she is still in the shadows as she has always been growing up. Meanwhile, Tiernan is set on transforming her to become worthy of the McTiernan household. Giving her anything at her disposal, but she needs to follow his rules. Her life truly changing when she slowly finds out more about the man she calls her guardian. Beneath the monster he portrays, Tiernan is gentle and protective. There is also the fact that he is insanely attractive and no matter how much she wants to deny it, Bianca has develop feelings for him. It’s until they cross the line of no return when things go south and she finds out that Tiernan has been lying to her all this time.

It’s their imperfections that have made the Morellis a dark force in New York City’s high society. They don’t pretend to be clean like their rivals, the Constantine family. As the third son of Bryant and Sarah Morelli, Tiernan Morelli, is the black sheep of the family. He has spent the last thirty years trying to prove himself to his father and siblings. Yet, never once has he ever been called for help so he is surprised when Bianca reaches out to him when she needs him the most. He knows what’s like to be cast in the shadows as he was groomed to be a monster by his own father. The rivalry between the two powerful families goes way back and Tiernan thinks he can end the rivalry for good by brining down the head of the Constantine family. So he sets out to do just that and that includes bringing down Bianca and her brother as well. They are pawns to his dangerous game of revenge, until Bianca starts to see something in him that he hasn’t seen before, hope. Tiernan can’t develop feelings for her, but it’s too late and he finds himself wanting to protect Bianca from the plan that he started.

I liked the overall concept of the story, this is definitely an age-gap forbidden romance that’s steamy and hard to put down. There is so much to the characters as we find out more about their backgrounds and how their families play a role when it comes to their future. There are family secrets and a bit of a mystery as well. The book itself is short and it also end on a cliffhanger. All in all, it was a good start to the duet and I can’t wait to read what happens next! :)
