Dark Reign by Amelia Wilde

Release Date: November 9th 2021
Genres: Dark, Romance, Contemporary

Wealthy. Reclusive. Dangerous. Emerson LeBlanc doesn’t enter society much. He only ventures out in pursuit of new art for his collection. It starts with a haunting painting. Then he meets the artist...

Innocent Daphne Morelli is more exquisite than anything he’s ever seen. He becomes obsessed with her. It doesn’t matter that she’s a living, breathing person with her own hopes and dreams.

She’ll be the perfect addition to his collection.

My Review:

Amelia Wilde delivers a unique romance in Dark Reign, the first book in The Collector Trilogy. This dark and twisted story its intriguing from beginning to end.

At the beginning we are introduced to Emerson LeBlanc, a wealthy and reclusive man who is always on the haunt for new art for his collection. He is known in the art world as “The Collector” and only attends private showings. It’s his impeccable eye for art that has paid off as his investments have increased in value. Yet, it’s one piece in particular that has moved him deeply and Emerson is ready to add it to his collection. But he wants to meet the artist and after doing his own research, Emerson finds out that he has seen her before. Daphne Morelli has captivated him and will do anything in his power to acquire her for his personal collection.

The Morelli name holds power in Bishop’s Landing, but Daphne’s family isn’t perfect. It’s full of secrets and constant rivalry with the Constantines. It’s hard to do things on her own when there is constant security watching her every move all to protect her safety. Yet, all Daphne wants is to make her own money and have her own life. So when she finds out that one of her paintings sold for a lot more money than she was hoping to get, she is happy to meet The Collector. She is shocked to see that she has met him before. She is attracted to him and there is a pull between them that she can’t deny. But there is something about Emerson that makes her feel uneasy, the fact that he seems to know more about her than she realized. Daphne knows that she should stay away from Emerson, but the harder she tries it becomes difficult to not give in to him. Until he tells her that he won’t be letting her go as she is now his.

Dark Reign was such an interesting concept to read, the cover really captures Emerson really well. He is this wealthy man who seems to be untouched by anything. He can make or brake an artists’ career and he has set his eyes on one particular person. To him Daphne is not like the rest of her family, she is captivating and innocent. He is able to connect with her paintings and his obsession with her grows the more he finds out about her. I read Leo’s story (the Beast of Bishop’s Landing) and it was nice to see how their story overlapped in certain scenes. It’s told in dual POV, so we get to see and understand both of their perspectives. The ending was unexpected and twisted! It’s a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting to read the next book right away! :)
