Sunshine and Sammy by Melanie Moreland

Release Date: August 4th 2022 by Moreland Books Inc
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Luke Adler lives for his ranch. It’s the only reason he agreed to get on board with his sister’s grand plan for guests staying on the property.

Nothing prepares him for the force of nature that is Samantha Morrison. When she arrives on his ranch to help construct this new part of his business, what he expects and what he gets are two entirely different things.

He expects a no-nonsense businessman. Straightforward and simple.

What he gets is a sunshine smile, sweet sass, and a woman who pushes every button and boundary he has.

He tries to ignore the draw, the urges she makes him feel. But when she gets close, he only wants her closer.

She makes him question his decisions, his thoughts, and the idea that being alone is best for him.

Even when they are consumed by the fire between them, he knows they come from two different worlds and he has to let her go.

But when the time comes, can he do that?
Can he live without her sunshine to warm his cold heart?
Or can this cowboy learn a new trick?

Author's Note: Heat and heart fills the pages as our heroine learns to ride a horse and tame a grumpy cowboy in rural Alberta.

My Review:

In the fifth book in the Vested Interest: ABC Cops Series, Sunshine and Sammy, Moreland delivers a heartwarming second chance romance. This sweet and steamy story between a cowboy and a city girl will leave you wanting for more!

As an independent DIY business starter, Samantha “Sammy” Morrison has been able to take her skills and turn them into a very successful business. She receives hundreds of letters from people with business ideas that need help with the details and the execution as well. It’s her job to pick one of those businesses to help and film the process that will be feature on a popular TV show. Sammy has recently signed on to help a family-owned ranch in Alberta. According to the brother and sister who own it, they want to add a tourist element on the ranch. Sammy is excited to get to River Rock Ranch, but doesn’t get the best of welcomes when she gets left behind at the airport by the brother, Luke, who he thought Sam was a man not a woman.

Confused, Sammy heads to the ranch and puts her foot down with the grumpy owner who wants her to leave. They have signed a contract and she isn’t going anywhere. Luke apologizes and agrees to let her do her job. But he pushes her buttons at every idea and gaining his trust is going to take some time. There is something about the cowboy that intrigues Sammy, not only is she attracted to him, but the more time they spend together, the more she begins to develop feelings for Luke. But her time at the ranch is coming to an end and she has decide if it’s worth pursuing a relationship with him worth it or walk away altogether.

For Luke Adler selling River Rock Ranch is not an option as it has been in his family for three generations. When his sister suggests for them to start a business as well, Luke is skeptical that it might work. His life is the ranch and his employees depend on it to do well. He thought that the professional they contacted to help them was going to be a no-nonsense businessman. What Luke was’t expecting to bump into was a gorgeous woman waiting for him at the airport. He thinks that she is going to be a high-maintenance city girl, reminding him of his past and how that ended up messing up his life. He is not interested in ever settling down or starting a family. But Sammy is feisty and ready to challenge his orders at every turn. She brings out a new side of him that he grows to like, but he can’t tie her to a life a ranch forever. She deserves so much that he can’t give her no matter how much he wants to keep her in his life.

I truly enjoyed reading Sunshine and Sammy, their banter was entertaining and their moments together were sweet. It’s clear that Luke has been hurt in the past and Sammy is able to bring him the happiness that he deserves. We see them grow in different ways as they start to let go of their pasts. Their families are important to them and we get to see them interact with each other. We also get cameos from previous characters as well. The ending was heartwarming and emotional. I would highly recommend checking out this story and any others by the author, they will not disappoint. :)
