My Review:
As the only grandson of the CEO of Hawkins Industries, Tristian Hawkins, grew up knowing that he would one day inherit the family business. But no matter how much of himself he has given to make the company a billion dollar success, his grandfather has made a decision that would ultimately change Tristian’s life forever. Tristian isn’t getting any younger and his playboy ways have to end, according to his grandfather. So, he is giving Tristian the chance to merge corporations with their biggest adversary. To end their rivalry once and for all, all he has to do is marry Belle Montgomery. Tristian doesn’t take the news well, he hasn’t seen Belle in twenty years and he doubts she would give him the time of day. He once hurt her in the past and it’s his job now to convince her to give them a chance as well as give their grandfathers a bloodline heir. Yet, there is something that Belle still doesn’t know and Tristian doesn’t know how she is going to react when she finds out what truly happened all those years ago.
For Belle Montgomery, being the only granddaughter in her family only meant that she was protected and sheltered at all costs. Her family is basically royalty in their town, making them wealthy and powerful. She has always been expected to follow her grandfather’s expectations and demands. From a young age, Belle has known the Hawkins as her family’s rivals. Until she meets Tristian for the first time when she was just 16 yrs old that everything changed in her life. He was her everything until he left her for good. It’s been twenty yers since the last time she saw him, so when he shows up at her office she wants nothing to do with him. Tristian hurt her the minute he walked away and their arranged marriage contract completely takes her by surprise. She has worked really hard to become the COO of Montgomery Enterprises and will do whatever it takes to be the next CEO, even if it means marrying her enemy.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Second Chance Rival, the tone in the story felt different than the last books in the series. Robison gives us all the alpha male vibes in this book and I couldn’t stop reading it. We have two characters who are supposed to be enemies, but have a lot in common. They are brought together in order to merge companies and produce an heir. But there is so much more to their story and they have to learn to leave the past behind in order to give themselves a second chance. It’s full of steamy and romantic moments, would highly recommend checking it out!
