This is the first book in The Kingston Family Series and it did not disappoint at all. Carly Phillips has a way of delivering strong stories in short books and I would highly recommend checking out her work.

The epic conclusion to the Cinderella Trilogy is here and it’s darker than ever. K. Webster has undoubtedly outdone herself with The Glass Slipper, now one of my all-time favorite trilogies of the year.

Ash never meant to let Winston down, she broke his trust and now she has to find a way to make things right again. But he is growing distant and Ash is not sure if he’ll ever return her feelings for him. She got swept up in a made up fairy tale where she imagined herself as the maid turned princess who perfectly fit into her prince charming’s dark world. Yet, no matter how much she really wants to fit in his world, she realizes that Winston gave her a fantasy not a reality. Their perfect world is about to shatter when his enemies are ready to destroy his reputation in the city where the Constantine name has the ultimate power. Nevertheless, Ash is ready to prove to everyone that she can stand next to someone like Winston and that she deserves to be with him.

Winston Constantine holds loyalty in high regard, so when he finds out that Ash betrayed his trust it completely crushed him. Another reason to remind him to keep his heart impenetrable. He learned his lesson once by letting someone get close to his heart and he can’t do that again no matter how much he wants Ash. Winston will have to put a distance between them before he starts to fall in love for the one person he can’t have. Yet, no matter how much distance he tries to put between them, Winston still cares about Ash and vows to keep protecting her from her terrible brothers. It would take a turn of events to reveal shocking secrets that will put their relationship on the line and he’ll have to decide if Ash is worth letting into his heart or not.

I’m so glad I found this trilogy, it truly kept getting better and better. As the last book in the trilogy, The Glass Slipper picks up right after the shocking climax in Prince Charming. Winston finds out that Ash has been playing him and he is hurt. He was starting to let himself believe that they could have a future together, but that completely changed after finding out of her betrayal. It’s now Ash that needs to fight for them if she wants to have a future with him. There is everything in this book, we get to find out more about Ash’s family and how essential they are in the story. Friends become enemies and the dynamic between the rest of the Constantine siblings are important to Ash and Winston. We also get a lot more steam between them and as they get closer, the more romantic the story gets. There were a few things that weren’t fully explained and I wonder if we are going to get some type of explanation in the other books in the series. I really thought the ending was going to end just like the actual Cinderella story, but the author gave us so much more. I fit the overall story and it was perfect for the characters. All in all, I am impressed with the overall trilogy from the gorgeous covers to the dark twist of the fairy tale story. I would highly recommend checking it out, I cannot wait to read more book by the author. You will not regret it!

My Review:

Prince Charming is the second book in the Cinderella Trilogy that’s emotional, full of shocking secrets and a steamy page-turner to keep you wanting for more.

After finding out that the Morellis are threatening to destroy Winston’s reputation as well as hers, Ash is determined to do whatever it takes to protect the man she is growing to love even if it means going behind his back to do so.

Rumor has it that the Morellis had something to do with the death of Winton’s father. Ever since then, Winston has been wanting to make them pay for what they did. When he finds out how horrible Ash’s brothers have been to her, his attention turns to them and won’t stop until she is safe again. Yet, no matter how many times he keeps telling Ash that they can never have a relationship, she is slowly warming up to his heart. She is different from any other woman he’s even been with and he truly enjoys being with her. But just when he’s starting to let his guard down that Winston finds out what Ash has been keeping from him. A secret that can end what they have before they can actually have a real chance at a relationship.

I absolutely loved reading Prince Charming! The characters are growing closer than ever and we get to see tender moments between them that had me swooning and rooting for them. It’s definitely a lot more emotional as they go through their ups and downs. There are a lot more references to the original Cinderella story which I loved, Webster has done a great job making them her own while keeping it dark and twisted. A lot more secrets come out and it’s up the characters to lean on each other in order to potentially have a future together. The interactions with Winston’s siblings and how he interacts with them had me laughing at their banter. They truly care for one another and will do anything to protect those in their circle, which includes Ash. She always wished to have the same type of relationship with her stepbrothers, but she didn’t so it makes her feel included when she is with the rest of the Constantine family. Yet, not everyone feels that way about her and that alone is an issue that she needs to solve before it’s too late. I cannot wait to see what happens next, it’s going to be epic! :)

K. Webster delivers an explosive age-gap fairly tale retelling in Stroke of Midnight, that’s dark, steamy and twisted. An original and addicting start to the Cinderella Trilogy.

The Constantine name holds a lot of power in New York, it rivals old money as its fortune has no bounds. As the head of the family, Winston Constantine grew his family business into an empire and now his Fortune 500 company is one of the world’s most prestigious acquisition firms. He is ruthless and always maintains a work over play rule that has paid off immensely. With power comes great responsibility and he demands order, cleanliness and has rules at work. So when he finds a candy wrapper stuck to his shoes as he walks into his office, he demands to know who let an unqualified person into his office to disturb his space. It’s when Winston goes over the video footage of his office that he sees the young offender and is set on making her pay.

Seeing Ash Elliott in person has him think of a better idea, she is gorgeous and in need of money, so he makes her trade in crudeness and degradation for it. She laughs at his proposal, finds it weird and the fact that he is older than her makes her think of twice of his intentions. Yet, she is intrigued and there is a pull between them that she can’t deny, giving in to his offer. Neither of them expected to have great chemistry, she challenges him at every turn and she is a breath of fresh air to him. It’s the more time they spend together that Winston grows protective of her and realizes that he is willing to spend every dime of his fortune to keep her safe and his. Winston may think of himself as a villain, but this prince charming just met his match.

Ash Ember Elliott never expected to be working for FGM Services, cleaning high-end buildings in the city. Having just turned eighteen, she thought that she would be able to go to Columbia right after high school, but upon discovering that her dad took her college savings, her stepmother was able to secure a job for her. But Ash doesn’t want to clean, she wants to sit behind a desk and crunch numbers. It is her dream to become an economic analyst just like her dad, but her life changed after the death of her mother at a young age. Ash now lives with her new stepmother and her triplet stepbrothers that torment her every chance they get.

It was just another day at work when she is surprised to see the CEO of Halcyon, Winston Constantine. He is incredibly good looking and older than her. It’s when he makes her an offer to pay her for every humiliating act he can think of, that Ash is ready to give him a piece of her mind. But the money that he is offering will set her free and she accepts. As the two start to spend more time together, Ash realizes that behind Winston’s ruthless persona is a man that has been hurt in the past and willing to protect her at any cost. So when Winston’s reputation is on the line, it’s time for the princess to save the villain.

This story was surprisingly not what I was expecting it to be about, it was so much more. It’s a dark retelling of Cinderella and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The characters have been through a lot, so when they come together they are able to understand each other very well. Winston is not your typical prince charming, he describes himself as a villain, but it’s his protectiveness over Ash that has him protecting her every chance he gets. Ash doesn’t back down, she is fierce and challenges Winston as well. A lot happens in the book to keep you at the edge of your seat. The cliffhanger at the end is going to keep you wanting to read the next book right away. I would highly recommend checking out the book, it’s a great start to the trilogy, a definite must-read! :)

I stare at the two thousand dollars we agreed upon. It doesn’t feel real. Since meeting Winston, I’ve made over four thousand dollars, kicking me up to eleven grand in my college fund. It’s annoying the relief I feel. It would have taken me months to make that much at FGM Services. I know Manda offered to pay, but I’d feel much better if I could somehow pay for it myself, even if it’s just books and supplies. I hate having to be indebted to her.

I go to reach for the money, but his hand covers mine, stopping me. My heart does a nervous skip in my chest.

“Want to earn more?” His eyes flare with challenge.

I can do this.

I can endure his weird-ass fantasies because he pays well.

“Yes,” I tell him with false bravado.

“Then wrap those lips around your breadstick. Lick it and suck it. Like you wish it were my dick.” He nods at the bread on my plate. “Five hundred dollars.”

God, he is so freaking bizarre.

“Eight,” I counter.

“A grand if you moan my name while you do it and don’t stop when Francis brings our food.” He winks at me. “Easy money.”

He fists his hand, his jaw clenching, the first sign of a normal human reaction. Heat burns down my spine, pooling in my pelvis. I’m not turned on by him. Not a bit.

“You have yourself a deal, little girl.”

Closing my eyes, I attempt to distance myself from him as I pick up my bread. He clears his throat, earning my stare, and shakes his head.
