I’m not supposed to fall in love with my husband. It’s not part of my plan.

Forgive me.

Those were the first words Santos Augustine spoke to me before we sealed an unbreakable oath. A contract signed in blood binding me to him as payment for my father’s sins.

Wearing the mask of legitimacy, this powerful crime family has returned to Avarice to punish those who have wronged them and take what they’ve always been denied, a place among the elite.

Forced to marry my enemy, I’m thrust into his world of secrets and betrayals.

My husband is a dangerous man. And he has dangerous enemies. But it’s when I’m attacked that his fury is unleashed.

It’s then I see what it means to belong to Santos Augustine.

And although I know the safest place for me is in his bed, I can’t let myself fall in love with my husband.

*Please note this age-gap, arranged marriage mafia romance contains references to past self-harm.

My Review:

Not having read other books by Knight before, I didn’t know what to expect. Needless to say, Forgive Me My Sins captivated me from beginning to end. This arranged marriage mafia romance is filled with sizzling moments, secrets and betrayals making it a definite must-read!

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Madelena De Leon, daughter of a very powerful and elite family in Avarice. That is until her father messed up and arranged for her hand in marriage to save himself. Not caring that Madelena was just fifteen when she was promised to the heir of a crime family. The Augustine protection proves to come in handy on multiple occasions as Santos comes to her rescue time and time again over the years. Proving exactly what it means to be his. Yet, not matter how much she wants to resist their attraction, the pull that she feels every time Santos comes to her, she can’t. They might have signed a contract in blood, binding them together, but there is a lot that Madelena still doesn’t know about Santos. A truth that could change the course of their lives forever.

Ever since the Augustines have returned from exile stronger than ever, Santos Augustine has witnessed how his family is slowly taking over the prominent town of Avarice. A town that turned their backs on them, leaving his family as outcasts. But this time around, his family is ready to punish those who have wronged them, that includes making the De Leons pay for what they did. By marrying Madelena, the Augustine family thinks that she will solidify their place in social and political circles in Avarice. What Santos wasn’t expecting to feel is the immense protectiveness towards her that grows every time he sees her. He can’t wait for the day they are actually married, to make her his once and for all. But the more time they spend together, the more he realizes just how similar they are. Making it that much more difficult to keep up with his family’s plans to make her family pay for what they’ve done.

I throughly enjoyed reading Forgive Me My Sins, it’s full of mystery and that plot twist at the end, definitely has me wanting to read the next book ASAP! The author does a great job describing the plot and the characters. We have two characters who might just be a lot similar than they might think, and it’s when they start to trust each other that makes it easier to lean on one another as well. Santos has met his match, Madelena is feisty and will not do down without a fight. It’s her previous experiences that have shaped her upbringing as well. On the other hand, underneath his respectable well-groomed facade, there is a ruthlessness about Santos that make him tough and overly protective when it comes to Madelena. Though his dad tells him to rely on himself, there is something about her that makes it impossible for him to let her go. All in all, this was such a great start to the series, should be on top of your TBR list! :)
