What Happens in London by Jen McConnel

Sarah landed in London, just hoping to leave her home behind and escape her family. But she didn't plan on falling headfirst into Carson's arms.

My Review:

I was very intrigued with the synopsis and the whole idea of the Adventures Abroad series, and the cover just completely pulled me in. In What Happen in London, we get to meet Sarah, who has been in London working as a nanny. Wanting to get away for a while, Sarah was able to get a job in London, yet she hasn't been able to see much of the city because she is constantly working and she is starting to get tired of her job. When her boss sees that she is not doing a good job, Sarah gets herself fired and with nothing to hold her back she decides to explore London before going back home.

Through a series of circumstances, she meets Carson, a guy she meets at a bookstore and the one that is willing to give her a proper tour of his city. When things start to get heated between them, she starts to reveal things about her family and herself. But we don't really get a lot from Carson as he seems to be the one hiding something and that alone stopped me from connecting with the characters, although he does seem to care about her in a certain level that it felt a bit creepy. I was hoping to get more background information on both of the characters, yet everything in the story happens really fast that the ending just left me hanging. I would have loved to see more of their travels or see how they solve their problems etc. Unfortunately, I felt that we don't get a real conclusion and that made me skeptical to keep reading on to the series knowing that I wasn't going to read about Sarah and Carson until the very end.

What Happens in Paris by Jen McConnel

Camie can't figure out what she wants, from college or life…until she meets Hunter. But will the magic of a romantic night in Paris last till the morning?

My Review:

Having read the first book in the series, I did not know what to expect before reading this book. The first book did not impressed me at all, but after reading What Happens in Paris, I can say that we do get more background information of the characters, and there is just more substance to the story that made me keep on reading. When we first meet Camie, she is at her university trying to find what she really wants to do after her counselor tells her that she is loosing her scholarship until she gets better grades. Not knowing what she is going to do next she decides to take on a loan to get herself back on track, but after her friend convinces her that she needs a break, Camie takes more loans to pay her flight to Paris. Now she is in a completely new city, alone, without anyone to help her out. After meeting Hunter, and having a series of adventures, she has a one night stand with him that changes the course of her journey. Without having second thoughts, she pulls away from the one person she was starting to get interested in and finds herself meeting two other girls that understand what she has been through and invite her to go to Italy with them. With that said, Camie embarks on a different adventure with her new friends.

Like the last book, this book ended quickly as well. Although we do get to meet and learn more about Camie at the beginning, things start to go downhill the minute she arrives to Paris. The lack of character development and detail description of her adventure makes reading the book not as enjoyable after a while. The way she ends things with Hunter was abrupt, and leaving everything behind to go onto her next adventure just made everything flat for me. I would say that the writing was good, yet if you're looking for a rather rushed book with not a lot of going on then I would suggest this reading this book/series.

What Happens in Berlin by Jen McConnel

Interrupting a summer of fun, Joelle takes a detour to Berlin for her older brother's wedding. Spending time with her family is enough to make anyone go a little crazy. She's ready to lose it...until she meets Vi, a girl ready to turn her world upside down.

My Review:

I enjoyed reading this book, having read the first two books in the series, this book had me very much interested in the plot. We first get to meet Joelle in the first book, What Happen in London right at the very end. She is vacationing when she meets Sarah, and then they both meet Camie, in What Happen in Paris. Now we finally get to read about what got her to travel abroad in the first place.

When Joelle gets the call that her brother is getting married, she is shocked to find out that he didn't tell her he was even dating in the first place. Now her whole family is flying out to Berlin for the wedding, at least that's what her parents tell her. Yet her parents surprised her with a trip to Europe before heading out to Berlin, and that is what gets Joelle to London and Paris. As she travels and meets Sarah and Camie, she can't wait to see her brother and meet his fiance. Upon her arrival, she meets a guy that seems to be attracted to her, but she doesn't feel the any sparks and decides to not lead him on. But that is only the start of her adventure in Berlin, because once she meets her brother's fiance, she finds herself surrounded by secrets while also trying to get along with the new member of her family, and a new attraction to someone she wasn't expecting to be attracted to. Now she has to decide what she is going to do next and travel to Italy to meet her friends.
So this book definitely has a lot going on to it that I really liked. Joelle is a fun girl that just wants to travel and be with her family. Yet in the book she is surrounded by choices and decisions that she has to make that made the story that much more interesting to read. The ending was rushed, but it's a lot better than the previous books in the series. I definitely wanting to read the next/last book of the series next after finishing this book. :)

What Happens Abroad by Jen McConnel

After a summer of fun, Camie, Joelle, and Sarah are ready to reunite in Italy for one last adventure, but heartbreak waits in the shadows of the cobblestone streets. Can Florence cast its spell and turn lost love into a final fling?

My Review:

After a summer of plenty of adventures and romance, Camie, Joelle, and Sarah reunite in Italy for one last adventure as a group. Now that the three of them have experienced quite a lot alone, they are finally excited to see Italy together, and so their adventure starts by renting an apartment. While they settle in the girls make a plan to visit as much as they can before they go back home.

Yet the girls still wonder if they can still have a second chance at love, and Camie is one that wishes she could go back and see where her relationship would have gone. As the girls make one last effort to make their summer the best that it could possibly be, they meet new friends as they explore what Florence has to offer. Overall it was great to see the girls finally taking on an adventure as a group, having met as strangers they now have connected in a different level that made them best friends in the end, which I really liked. I would have liked to see their separate stories as full length novels rather than novellas. There wasn't a lot of character development in any of the books, and the ending was somewhat satisfying. At least we get a peek at one of the girl's next adventure in the end. I would recommend the series if you're someone that wants a very quick read, the stories are still good it's their ending that was not what expected them to be.
