Don’t look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.

That is Ethan Chase’s unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he’d dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister’s world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

My Review:

I didn't quite know what this book was going to be about, but when I started reading it, I immediately noticed that it was in Ethan's POV (Meghan's brother). I was intrigued at what could possibly happened to him if he is no longer associated with the fey, but I was wrong. His story is just like his sister's. They are both haunted by the fey whether they liked it or not, and that causes problems for him. What I liked about the book is that previous characters made an appearance into his journey. I was excited to see familiar faces coming into Ethan's world to help him. In this new book, there are new forces threatening the exiles and half-breeds in the both fey world and mortal world. Now that Ethan is a lot older, he is still haunted by what took him when he was little, and for that reason he must train himself in order to protect those around him, including his friend Todd and Kenzie. What I really liked about this book overall is that we get to see a special character that Ash saw in the last book (The Iron Knight) when he was facing all those test to prove that he was worthy of a soul. It was definitely a different perspective in point-of-views, but I got to see a whole new world/creatures that appear in this book. Meghan is quite a character when it comes to protecting those she loves, Ash <3 is super protective when it comes to this book (although they are not in the story a lot) and Puck, he literally made me laugh whenever he appeared in the story.

Overall, this was a new adventure that I enjoyed reading. Ethan as Meghan's brother gets to have an adventure full of thriller, twists, shocking revelations, and most of all, a new love interest. I definitely recommend this book to those who have read the Iron Fey series. I can't wait to read the next book in this new series The Traitor's Son. :)
