Question: Pick a book in your favorite genre that you'd recommend to a reluctant reader.

Answer: This is a tough one, I love to read just about any genre but anything YA will be great for a reluctant reader. I couldn't pick just one, but it would either Anna and the French Kiss and/or The Iron Fey Series.

Anna and the French Kiss

by
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

The Iron King
by

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

***Both books have romance and adventure, but the Iron Fey Series has a mythical/fantasy twist to the series. It would really depend on the person and what he/she might be interested in reading :) What would you guys recommend a reluctant reader to read? Let me know and don't forget to leave me your FF links.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

by Julie Kagawa
Released Date: Published October 29th 2013 by Harlequin Teen
Series: The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten #2
Pages: 304
View/Purchase: Goodreads, Amazon, B&N

In the real world, when you vanish into thin air for a week, people tend to notice.

After his unexpected journey into the lands of the fey, Ethan Chase just wants to get back to normal. Well, as "normal" as you can be when you see faeries every day of your life. Suddenly the former loner with the bad reputation has someone to try for-his girlfriend, Kenzie. Never mind that he's forbidden to see her again.

But when your name is Ethan Chase and your sister is one of the most powerful faeries in the Nevernever, "normal" simply isn't to be. For Ethan's nephew, Keirran, is missing, and may be on the verge of doing something unthinkable in the name of saving his own love. Something that will fracture the human and faery worlds forever, and give rise to the dangerous fey known as the Forgotten. As Ethan's and Keirran's fates entwine and Keirran slips further into darkness, Ethan's next choice may decide the fate of them all.

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

I absolutely loved this book! Julie Kagawa has blown my mind completely. I'm still trying to regain my thoughts about this book and what happened. No matter what Ethan Chase does, he can't seem to live at peace with all the fey following him around. After his return from the Nevernever, all he wanted was to have a normal life with his girlfriend Kenzie, but that didn't last long before his sister visits him and tells him that his nephew, Kierran, has gone missing. He knows that if he wants the fey to leave him alone, he should ignore everything that has to do with them, but when Annwyln comes asking for his help, he can no longer ignore what he has to do. After all, family should stick together no matter what right? In his quest of finding his nephew, he faces danger when he goes back to the world that he promised he'd never return. Now, with his girlfriend and Annwyln by his side, he'll have to find Kierran and stop him from causing more trouble.

I almost forgot how much I love Julie's writing, it's so vivid and it makes the whole book come to life. The flow of the story was both exciting and thrilling. It was hard to stop reading the book, without knowing what was going to happen next. The only thing that I'm guessing everyone will hate is the ending! The book ended with a huge cliffhanger and I can't stop thinking about what it's going to happen next. There were times when I felt bad for Ethan and Kenzie, it wasn't their battle to fight, but they both wanted to help Kierran. On the other hand, Kierran left me with mixed feelings, I can understand where his decisions were coming from, but he let what was around him cloud his better judgment. Although I wanted to see more from Meghan and Ash, there were some old characters that did showed up and I was ecstatic to see them come back again. Overall, the book was amazing. I recommend everyone to read the series you will absolutely love it.

The Lost Prince
by Julie Kagawa
Release Date: Published October 23rd 2012 by Harlequin Teen
Series: The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten #1
Pages: 379
View/Purchase: Goodreads, Amazon, B&N

Don’t look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.

That is Ethan Chase’s unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he’d dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister’s world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

My Review:

I didn't quite know what this book was going to be about, but when I started reading it, I immediately noticed that it was in Ethan's POV (Meghan's brother). I was intrigued at what could possibly happened to him if he is no longer associated with the fey, but I was wrong. His story is just like his sister's. They are both haunted by the fey whether they liked it or not, and that causes problems for him. What I liked about the book is that previous characters made an appearance into his journey. I was excited to see familiar faces coming into Ethan's world to help him. In this new book, there are new forces threatening the exiles and half-breeds in the both fey world and mortal world. Now that Ethan is a lot older, he is still haunted by what took him when he was little, and for that reason he must train himself in order to protect those around him, including his friend Todd and Kenzie. What I really liked about this book overall is that we get to see a special character that Ash saw in the last book (The Iron Knight) when he was facing all those test to prove that he was worthy of a soul. It was definitely a different perspective in point-of-views, but I got to see a whole new world/creatures that appear in this book. Meghan is quite a character when it comes to protecting those she loves, Ash <3 is super protective when it comes to this book (although they are not in the story a lot) and Puck, he literally made me laugh whenever he appeared in the story.

Overall, this was a new adventure that I enjoyed reading. Ethan as Meghan's brother gets to have an adventure full of thriller, twists, shocking revelations, and most of all, a new love interest. I definitely recommend this book to those who have read the Iron Fey series. I can't wait to read the next book in this new series The Traitor's Son. :)

Review: The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Knight
by Julie Kagawa
Release Date: Published October 26th 2011 by Harlequin TEEN
Series: The Iron Fey #4
Pages: 394
View/Purchase: Goodreads, Amazon, B&N

"My name--my True Name--is Ashallayn' darkmyr Tallyn. I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her. My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl..."To cold faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.

Then Meghan Chase--a half human, half fey slip of a girl--smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.

With the unwelcome company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end--a quest to find a way to honor his vow to stand by Meghan's side.

To survive in the Iron Realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. And along the way Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

(Summary taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

When I first heard that the last book was going to be in Ash's P.O.V, I couldn't believe it. I just had to get my hands on it and FAST! The book cover is just amazing, it fits him (that's how I pictured Ash to look like). When I started reading the book, I thought it went slow at the beginning, but it got better when Ash starts recalling past events, things that had happened in his past that will lead him into his future. It was intriguing to see a different side of Ash, a much more vulnerable guy that will do anything to be with the girl he loves, instead of a cold-hearted prince. Puck was also in this adventure, and he becomes Ash's companion in his journey. There was definitely a lot of twists and turns that I was so not expecting! It just made his adventure a lot more complicated, but it was nice to see how he was not going to give up on his quest. His oath is what leads him to the End of the World (literally), where he is tested with trials and the truth of his past. Although it was hard to read those events (since they were actually very painful to read) as readers we get to see just how much Ash is willing to give up for a soul. The last few chapters were shocking, I was not expecting to see so much of the outcome of Ash's quest. In his last test, Ash is able to come to a conclusion, whether he wants to stay as he is or be with Meghan.

In this book, we are able to see the value of humanity, and just how much Ash is willing to give up for Meghan. This is definitely one of my favorite series, since the beginning of this whole adventure, The Iron Fey series has had twists and turns that left me wanting for more. The ending left me breathless and just happy to see that there is always a happy ending at the end. I'm onto the next book by Julie Kagawa (my new favorite author) The Lost Prince. :)

Review: The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Queen
by Julie Kagawa
Release Date: Published January 25th 2011 by Harlequin Teen
Series: The Iron Queen (Iron Fey, #3)
Pages: 358
View/Purchase: Goodreads, Amazon, B&N

My name is Meghan Chase.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.

*Summary taken from Goodreads

My Review:

This book was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! The book completely turned the whole series around, it's by far my favorite book of the series. The amount of drama that was in the book made everything suspenseful. I love the fact that Ash and Meghan were able to be together as a couple in this book. ;) There were a lot of sweet moments that made made my heart melt, just to think that they were together was great. In this book, there was a whole new factor involved, as Meghan gets a preposition from the Summer King and Winter Queen. It is because of this preposition that she was able to grow and defend herself and the ones she loves. The whole love triangle was finally clear in the book as well, and she was able to pick one of them. Although the ending brought me to tears, I couldn't help to feel sad for those that got hurt and hopeful to see what Ash and Puck are going to do next. With more suspense and thriller, I can't wait to read what happens to Meghan, Ash and Puck in the next book.

I really hope for a happy ending :D

Review: The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Daughter
by Julie Kagawa
Release Date: Published August 1st 2010 by Harlequin Teen
Series: The Iron Fey #2
Pages: 359
View/Purchase: Goodreads, Amazon, B&N

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

*Summary taken from Goodreads

My Review:

I can't say enough about this book, It's just so GOOD! I'm completely falling in love with the series. Being the second book, it just picks up where it lefts off in the first book. I feel that there is a lot more drama going on in this book than in the first one. There is a lot more going on with Meghan in this book, that she really has to make a choice of whether to be with Ash or Robin. I will definitely be confused as well if I was her. I mean, they are both great and mischievous, that it makes it difficult to pick one of them. The war between the Iron Fey and the seasons starts to heat up as the story unfolds. There are new characters that definitely make their way into the story just to fill it out with more twists and turns! In this particular book Meghan discovers more secrets and the things that she is able to do in order to protect those that she loves. Although she doesn't fully develop as a character, she is still learning to cope with the events that are happening around her.
Towards the ending, I couldn't put it down. I just had to know what was going to happen to Meghan and Ash. Overall, it was an excellent book! I loved it and can't wait to read the next book. :)

My Review:

I thought the book was great. I've been meaning to read this series for a while, but I just haven't had the time to read it until now. Overall I like the mixture of magic and the "modern world". It seems like nature is fighting against technology/iron. What I like about this book is the mythical creatures involved as well as the seasons. It was scary when Meghan's brother, Ethan was taken away. Her whole conquest throughout the book was to find her brother. I was not expecting the twists and turns that the book took while I was reading it. It was exciting and very unexpected towards the end. It would be interesting to see what happens to Meghan next. I will definitely recommend this book! I can't wait to read the second book of the series, it's going to be awesome! :D
