At thirty-three Warner Truman is one of the richest men on the planet, a spa mogul who buys and sells resorts at will. He holds powerful executive’s careers in his well-groomed hands. Nothing is beyond Warner’s reach…until he meets her.

Stunning, tantalizing, and perverse, Taddy Brill captivates Warner’s carnal desire like no woman he’s ever met. A self-made millionaire, Taddy is tougher than steel, more brilliant than diamonds and, at twenty-seven, she’s never depended on a man for anything…until she meets him.

The more Taddy plays with Warner’s affections, driving him to erotic heights, the more she is confronted by a dark past. But before she can love him, Taddy must meet her worst fears head-on or risk losing it all, including herself.

My Review:

Having not read Undressed (the first book in the series), I enjoyed reading Unscrupulous very much. I feel that it can also be read as a stand-alone book just because it's focused on different characters. What I really liked about this book is the change of settings. I liked how Aster describes the busy lives of Manhattanites and how glamorous can be. The whole feel of the book reminded me of Sex in the City, and it worked. The overall idea of the book was great, yet I felt that the story was going a bit too fast for me. There were times when I was a bit confused as to what was happening (it went from one point to the other rather fast). Aside from that we are given a story that would appeal to a lot of people.

From the very beginning we meet Taddy Brill and how she grows up as being part of Manhattan's most prominent families. Having said that, she spends little to no time with her parents and she grows distant. Now every family has secrets, and hers is just one of many that hold a secret that is tearing them apart. Not wanting to be part of her family's scandal, Taddy decides to do anything possible to make a name for herself and she does exactly that.

Now, Warner Truman is charming, smart and he knows what he wants. He is the perfect male character that I'm sure everyone is going to like. As a billionaire, he is used to having everything he wants. He has resorts all over the world and he is determined to bring something new to the table that will take him to the very top. But just when he thought everything was running smoothly in one of his resorts, he sees Taddy and that's when the story truly begins. Their chemistry is spontaneous and rather fast. They are both attracted to each other, but due to certain circumstances they go their own way without telling each other their actual names. Now the hunt is on for Warner to find the woman he desires and he is not going to stop until he has Taddy in his arms and never lets her go.

Overall the writing was great, the characters had great chemistry and the setting fit the book very well. Both Warner and Taddy are equally successful, but it's their background stories that stood out from the rest. I would have loved to learn more of Warner's past, it seemed that Taddy's past took over the majority part of the book. But I liked how the story wasn't just about the glamour, and richness. It was about them finding a way to move forward by letting go of the past and focus on a future together. The book does have mature content, but if you like anything similar to Sex in the City, then it's the right book for you. I recommend it. :)
