My Review:
At the beginning of the story we get to meet Richard VanRyan, a wealthy playboy whose constant indiscretions can’t seem to get him out of the spotlight. He cares for no one, but himself and that has landed him on the hot seat with his fellow associates. After wanting to become partner for the company that he works for, after all the hard work that he has put to make the company successful, it is only right that he gets the the partnership that he wants, but that isn’t happening. He has once again being passed up from getting the offer and that has made Richard really angry. His only choice now is to either stick with the job that doesn’t deliver what he wants or move on to the next company to work for. It is after a friend suggests to interview for a rather different type of company that suddenly spark Richard’s interest. But not only will he have to give up his old habits to prove that he has changed, but he will also need a fake fiancee to be able to sale his story. With no one else around him that he can trust for the job, he turns to non other than his personal assistant, Katherine, for help.
After offering her anything that she wants in order to live with him for an extended amount of time, and basically play the role of dutiful fiancee, Richard starts to see her in a different light. He is attracted to her in more ways than he can explain and that could damage the contract that they have signed and his future if he is not careful. Now that he is so close to having it all, the only thing left is whether he is willing to give up what he has worked for so long for the women that he could potentially be falling in love with.
Katherine Elliott doesn’t do your typical PA duties, especially not for a man like Richard VanRyan. He is only proven to be the most demanding boss she’s ever had, yet when he asks for her help everything changes for her. Now she has to pretend to be in love with him and lie to those around her, including those she has grown close to. It is when she starts to feel a pull towards him that she has to decide if he is worth lying for.
I absolutely loved this story, the author did a good job developing the characters by giving them time to adjust in different scenarios. Though the book is predictable, the way it started to the very end of the story was filled with twists and turns that will leave you wanting for more. In the story we get to understand by Katherine is the way she is and her past. It will leave you in tears when you learn her story. Richard truly shows his compassion for her and love when he has to be there for her in a time of need. We also get to learn more of Richard’s past and his obstacles of wanting to follow his rules and not anyone else’s. Overall, the story made me laugh, cry and swoon for the characters. I would highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed (especially with how it ends!).

My Rating:
New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-seven-plus years and their rescue cat Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.
While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie delights in a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative storylines to her, often with a large glass of wine keeping her company.
