Elijah Davis finished polishing the shiny, new stainless-steel work tables in the center of the kitchen and took off his apron. He turned in a slow circle and studied the industrial-sized ovens, the commercial proofer, the chiller, the walk-in freezer, the shelves holding trays, tins, pans, and racks, and the professional mixers sitting on a counter with a critical eye.

A slow grin split his face. He’d finally done it.

The swing door opened. A young woman with short, pink and blue hair and half a dozen piercings strolled in, a tired smile on her face.

“I think we’re ready,” Sam Harris said with a confident dip of her chin.

She joined Elijah and stared around the lovingly restored kitchen. The butcher’s block they’d bought for a bargain at a garage sale a month ago had come up beautifully after some sanding and took pride of place between the metal tables in the middle of the room. They’d spent one weekend stripping decades of greased-up paint from the cabinets and cupboards before whitewashing them and applying thick coats of cream and duck egg blue. The colors matched the bakery’s new facade and the shop’s gaily decorated interior.

La Petite Bouche Gourmande was officially opening for business tomorrow.

“Bet you’re excited,” Sam told Elijah with a grin, exposing a slightly crooked tooth.

“So much so I don’t think I’m gonna sleep tonight,” Elijah admitted fervently.

“Well, I’d offer to help you with that, but you like dicks and I like pussies, so our work affair is unfortunately doomed before it can even begin.”

Elijah chuckled at her deadpan expression.

It still surprised him how completely wrong his first impression of Sam had been. When he’d first laid eyes on her on the day she came to interview for the position of his bakery manager, he’d already resigned himself to hiring somebody out of town for the job.

Although Twilight Falls wasn’t exactly famous for producing pΓ’tissiers, he’d hoped to at least find someone competent enough to handle a basic kitchen and a cake shop.

Elijah’s heart had sunk when Sam had walked into the office above the bakery and sat down on the other side of the desk, a faintly mutinous expression on her flushed face. He’d told himself he would indulge her since she was the last interviewee of the day and had nearly fallen out of his chair after she correctly told him the steps required to make macarons five minutes later.

It was afterward that Sam told him she was so used to people assuming she was unreliable because of her appearance that she normally went in with all guns blazing.

Elijah had given her the job on the spot.

“It still feels strange, you know,” Sam mused. “When I first saw your ad, I didn’t believe my eyes for a second. Why would a renowned pastry chef leave a Michelin-star restaurant and a successful career in Paris to open a bakery in the back end of nowhere?” A teasing light warmed her face. “And not just any pastry chef, but a hot one, with a body like Adonis.”

Elijah pressed a hand to his heart with an expression of fake shock. “You think I’m hot? And that I look like Adonis?”

Sam rolled her eyes. “I take it back. Your ego doesn’t need any more inflating.”

They closed up shop a short while later.

“Be careful,” Elijah told Sam as she climbed on her moped.

She saluted and headed off in the night. Elijah watched her until she disappeared and turned to gaze at the bakery’s facade. A melancholic feeling swirled through him as he studied the freshly painted shop sign.

La Petite Bouche Gourmande had been one of his favorite children’s books. His most vivid memories of his maternal, French grandmother were of her reading it to him during the long summers his family spent in France when he was growing up.

“Because I made a promise to someone very important to me,” Elijah said quietly, finally answering the question Sam had asked him.

Elijah’s grandmother had come to Twilight Falls only once, when he was fifteen. She had immediately fallen in love with the picturesque town, which was as different from the sleepy French village she had spent most of her life in as night was from day. It was during that trip that they’d spoken of his future and Elijah had first told her his dreams of going to Paris to study to be a professional pΓ’tissier, a dream he had so far hidden from his own parents. His grandmother had been quiet for some time as they strolled through the town. Then, she’d stopped and pointed out a charming coffee shop.

“Like that,” she’d said in her heavily accented English. “You should come back and open a bakery here just like that, in this beautiful place.” She’d gazed at the forested valley draped in autumnal colors that surrounded Twilight Falls, before beaming at him. “You will be happy here. I can feel it.”

She had planned to visit again but had fallen ill shortly after his seventeenth birthday and passed away on the night Elijah and his mother arrived in France to see her. They’d spent a couple of weeks after her funeral organizing her affairs before returning to Twilight Falls with a box full of her personal items. Among them had been the book she had read to Elijah when he was still a boy and the one thing of hers he’d taken with him when he’d left for Paris a few years later.

It was close to eleven by the time Elijah got home. His parents were away on their long-awaited world cruise and had given him the keys to their house while he settled back into town and looked for his own place. He parked his vintage, pea-green CitroΓ«n DS on the driveway at the end of the cul-de-sac where they’d moved to and was climbing the steps to the front porch when a child’s faint cry reached him.

Elijah turned and was surprised to see lights in the pretty, white clapboard house across the way. His father had given him the impression the place was empty. Not that it bothered Elijah to have neighbors. The properties on the estate had generous plots and were mostly occupied by retired folks.

A shadow moved across a window on the second floor.

From the distance, Elijah made out the figure of a man rocking a little girl with blonde hair in his arms. The man stopped and turned to look straight at him.

Elijah flushed at being caught staring. He realized belatedly that the guy probably couldn’t see him where he stood in the dark. He twisted on his heels and headed inside his parents’ house, curious as to who it was who’d moved in opposite him.

CHAPTER ONE

Cam Sorvino felt the man beside him stiffen when the flight attendant announced their imminent arrival into Chicago. He reached for Gabe Anderson’s left hand where Gabe gripped the armrest of his seat.

“Hey, are you okay?” Cam asked softly, running a finger lightly over Gabe’s engagement ring.

Gabe’s ice-blue eyes softened as he lowered his gaze to the beautiful, white gold and platinum band adorning his ring finger. “Yes.” He turned his hand over and entwined his fingers with Cam’s before lifting Cam’s hand and pressing a brief kiss to Cam’s knuckles. “I’m sorry, I’m just—nervous. I haven’t seen them in ten years.” He tugged his lower lip between his teeth in a gesture that Cam had come to adore and lowered his head on Cam’s shoulder, a heavy sigh shuddering out of him. “I was surprised they agreed to meet me.” He paused. “To meet you.”

Cam frowned faintly over his lover’s head as he looked out through the window of the first class cabin to the city growing rapidly below the fuselage of the plane.

It had been his idea for them to reach out to Gabe’s parents to invite them to their wedding. Since Cam was an orphan and wouldn’t have any family attending on his side, he hadn’t wanted Gabe to be in a similar position. He’d first suggested it over breakfast one morning a month ago.

“As long as our friends are there, I don’t really mind,” Gabe had said. “Besides, my parents pretty much disowned me the day I came out of the closet and told them about—,” he’d hesitated for a second and grimaced, “—about Andrew.”

Cam had clenched his jaw at the mention of Gabe’s former flame. Though he and Gabe were happy and committed to one another, it still irked Cam that Gabe’s first gay relationship had ended so disastrously, leaving him with emotional scars that had made it impossible for him to have sex for eight years.

When Gabe confessed to Cam about how Andrew had arranged for a group of five men to gang rape him on camera on the night of their first year anniversary, a night where Gabe had thought he and Andrew would finally consummate their relationship, Cam had wanted to find the bastard and beat the ever-living shit out of him.

That Andrew and his associates had gotten their just deserve and gone on to serve jail sentences didn’t take away from the fact that they had hurt and traumatized Gabe so deeply he hadn’t been able to bear another man touching him for nearly a decade.

It was thanks to Cam that Gabe had finally been able to defeat his demons and have his first ever gay sexual relation. That he was and always will be Gabe’s first man was something Cam treasured with a possessiveness that sometimes scared him.

Although Cam had overcome his trailer trash past and now lived a life he could never have dreamed of when he was a child, Gabe was the first person who had truly belonged to him, in every sense of the word. Yes, they had amazing friends, and that circle had grown to a pretty tight-knit group these past two years, but still, Gabe was his and his alone.

Cam’s frown deepened. And that’s something no one will ever take away from me.

The plane started its descent into Chicago O’Hare Airport. They cleared customs in record time, collected their luggage, and were soon headed for the exit. Cam sensed the tension winding through Gabe increase tenfold when a black limo pulled up smoothly at the curb in front of them as they came out of the building.

He glanced at Gabe’s stony expression, surprised. “Hmm. Is that for us?”

Gabe nodded curtly, a muscle jumping in his jawline. The chauffeur got out, greeted them with a polite smile, and ushered them into the back of the vehicle under the curious stares of passers-by.

Cam twisted on the luxurious leather seat and stared at Gabe while the chauffeur placed their cases in the trunk. “Does your family normally do limos?”

Gabe ran a hand through his hair, irritation darkening his face. “I told them we’d get a cab, but my father insisted on sending the car. Knowing him, this is purely for show.”

As the vehicle pulled out of the airport and merged onto the interstate heading north, Cam wondered what else he was going to discover about the man he was going to spend the rest of his life with. Gabe had been pretty tight-lipped whenever Cam had inquired after his estranged family in the past. All Cam knew was that Gabe’s father worked in banking and his mother used to be a realtor. And he had a younger sister who he’d also lost touch with ten years ago.

The limo rapidly ate away the miles to their destination and soon entered the picturesque North Shore community of Kenilworth, overlooking Lake Michigan. Cam’s heart sank as he studied the stunning, multi-million dollar properties visible behind the walls and hedges of the affluent neighborhood they were driving through.

The limo turned into a cul-de-sac, headed through a pair of imposing wrought-iron gates, and pulled into a circular driveway fronting a gorgeous red-bricked Georgian colonial mansion. One of the imposing oak double doors opened to reveal a man in uniform.

“You have a butler?” Cam said leadenly when the vehicle slowed to a smooth stop in front of the solemn figure standing under the portico.

Gabe sighed, turned to face Cam, and took his hands while the chauffeur got out and headed for the trunk. “Okay, before we go in there, I want to apologize.”

A bark of laughter escaped Cam. He wasn’t sure whether he was shocked or annoyed with Gabe for having kept this a secret from him. “What, for being stinking rich?”

Gabe shook his head, his expression full of remorse. “My family is wealthy, Cam. I’m not. I’m still the same man you healed that night two years ago. The same man who fell madly in love with you.” He leaned his forehead against Cam’s. “The same man who belongs to you, body, heart, and soul,” he murmured, pressing a sweet kiss to Cam’s lips. He pulled back and tightened his hold on Cam’s fingers. “No, I’m apologizing for whatever may go down in that house in the next couple of days.”

The back door of the limo opened.

“It is good to have you home, Mr. Anderson. Welcome, Mr. Sorvino,” the butler murmured respectfully.

Gabe tensed and let go of Cam’s hands. Cam followed Gabe’s uneasy gaze to the couple watching them coolly from the doorway of the mansion, his lover’s heartfelt confession and warning still ringing in his ears.

Oh boy.

CHAPTER ONE

Lana Keele stirred and slowly blinked her eyes open. Searing light filled her vision. She winced and twisted her head, a mumbled curse tumbling past her lips. A wave of dizziness swept over her; her stomach clenched painfully. Lana froze and swallowed the rush of bile shooting up her throat. Hot daggers stabbed at her temples. She moaned softly.

It was a moment before she realized she was lying on her front on a bed. She stared blearily at the crisp white pillow in her line of sight before rolling over carefully onto her side. She studied the room she was in with widening eyes.

Where the hell am I?

Cool gray linen kissed her skin. Her very much bare skin.

Lana gasped and sat up. A shaky groan rumbled out of her chest when the headache became a vise squeezing her skull. She reached for the sheet wrapped around her waist and legs and clutched it to her breasts.

She was only wearing her bra and panties.

What the hell happened last night?!

All Lana remembered was being in Shanghai’s latest happening club and having drinks with the man she’d picked up at a bar while she’d been out with a girlfriend she hadn’t seen since her college days. She dimly recalled drunkenly kissing the guy while her similarly inebriated friend hooked up with another man. The rest was a blur.

A door opened opposite the end of the bed. A man walked out of an en suite bathroom, his face obscured by the towel he was using to rub his hair dry.

Lana’s pulse jumped. She stared up a pair of powerful, tanned legs, the mouth-watering deep V tantalizingly revealed at the top of the towel perched precariously on slim hips, a defined six-pack, a broad, muscular chest, and strong corded arms that bunched and flexed with the man’s movements.

Holy crap, was the guy from the club this hot?!

The man paused and lowered the towel from his head. Lana felt the blood drain from her face.

No. Fucking. Way.

Tom Sutherland, her assistant and secretary of four years and the bane of her life, arched an eyebrow at her.

“Oh, you’re up,” he said in a matter-of-fact voice. “You’d better get dressed. You have an appointment in fifty minutes.”

Lana’s jaw sagged open as Tom walked over to a wardrobe and took down the neatly pressed suit, shirt, and tie draped on a clothes hanger hooked on the handle. Her eyes widened into saucers when she saw one of her work suits on an adjacent hanger, complete with a pair of matching panties and bra. Tom removed briefs from a chest of drawers and disappeared inside the bathroom.

Lana was still staring at the spot where he’d disappeared when he came out minutes later fully dressed. He sighed and glanced at his watch with a frown while he finished knotting his tie.

“Forty-five minutes, Lana,” he said briskly. “Get your ass into gear.”

Lana opened and closed her mouth soundlessly as he headed for the bedroom door.

“Hey! Wait a minute!” she spluttered. “Why am I in your bed, half naked?!”

Tom stopped and twisted on his heels, his hands in his pockets. Lana ignored the wild pounding of her heart as she watched the way the motion stretched the material of his shirt across his torso.

All it took was one look at his condescending expression for her to stiffen, the familiar irritation that plagued her whenever she was in his presence replacing the baffling feeling presently coursing through her.

There’s no way in hell I just thought Tom Sutherland was attractive!

“Funny story,” Tom said sardonically. “My boss turned up on my doorstep at one in the morning, barged inside my apartment, stripped, and demanded sex.” He cocked an eyebrow. “I felt I had to oblige her.”

Panic slammed into Lana and sent her pulse into the stratosphere.

No. Dear God, please tell me we didn’t—

Anger flashed through her when she detected the mocking light in Tom’s eyes. “You asshole!” she hissed. “Tell me what really happened!”

Tom leaned against the doorjamb and crossed his ankles. Lana’s gaze dropped to where his pants stretched across his strong thighs. She cursed internally and brought her eyes back up to his face, angry at herself for noticing his body once more.

This is Tom, for fuck’s sake!

“The part about you turning up at an ungodly hour and entering my place without my permission is accurate, as was your demand for sex,” Tom said coolly. “You then spent the next two hours throwing up in my bathroom. I sent your dress to the dry cleaners, put you to bed, and went to your penthouse to pick up a fresh change of clothes.”

Lana glanced at the pillow next to the one she’d been lying on, her unspoken question hanging in the air.

Tom sighed. “I slept on the couch. Trust me, I wouldn’t fuck you if you were the last woman on Earth.”

Lana inhaled sharply as he turned and left the room. She scowled in the next instant.

“Oh yeah?! And I wouldn’t sleep with you if you were the only asshole left alive on this entire planet!” she shouted after him, a familiar pain surging inside her chest.

CHAPTER ONE

Eveline Claude blinked slowly. “Come again?”

A muscle jumped in the jawline of the man seated on the other side of the conference room table.

“You don’t own the freehold to the Tokyo branch of Le Secret,” Malcolm Brooks repeated stiffly.

Eveline’s pulse started to race as she stared from Brooks to his poker-faced partner, Victor Kline.

“I’m sorry, did I just hear you say that I don’t own the tenure of one of my most successful business enterprises?” Silence greeted her stunned question. “Are you guys yanking my chain right now?” Eveline chuckled in disbelief. “You are, aren’t you? Because there’s no way my one-thousand-dollar-per-hour, top-notch city lawyers just informed me that they fucked up.”

Brooks glanced at Kline. “Told you she’d bring up the hourly fee,” he muttered.

Kline ignored his partner and studied Eveline with an impassive expression. “Of course, we’ll be working to resolve this matter pro bono. The mistake is ours and we cannot apologize enough on behalf of the firm.”

Eveline’s mouth went dry as she looked between the two men and realized they were serious. The first inkling that her day was going to turn out to be gloriously shitty began at six a.m., when the fire alarm in her apartment building went off. Having left Le Secret at two, Eveline wasn’t pleased that her much needed beauty sleep had been interrupted by some asshole who hadn’t figured out how to use his new waffle maker. Her ire rose tenfold when she went to collect her car from the underground garage and noticed the fresh scratch on her midnight blue Maserati. She’d made a note to ask the security guards to check the cameras covering the parking lot and had barreled out of the building and into the early morning Tokyo traffic at twice the allowed speed limit; she hated being late for an appointment and her nine o’clock meeting with Brooks & Kline was taking place on the other side of town. She’d made it to their office on the twelfth floor of the glass and steel high-rise housing their law firm with four minutes to spare and had waited impatiently in the conference room, curious as to why they’d requested the urgent face to face.

It was Brooks who’d called her the day before to set up the meeting.

“Something’s come up. We need to talk,” the lawyer said cryptically after Eveline’s assistant put his call through.

Eveline paused and lowered her cup of coffee, her gaze shifting from the busy dual computer screens on the desk before her, to the glorious views beyond the panoramic windows to her right. Her office was located next to a small, private flat she kept above Le Secret and overlooked Ginza, the most famous and exclusive district in Tokyo.

Eveline frowned as she studied the busy intersection outside, the first seed of unease stirring inside her.

“What’s this about, Malcolm? It’s rare for you to call me yourself.”

“I know. It would be best if we had this conversation face to face,” Brooks replied.

He’d refused to answer Eveline’s questions and gave her the details of their appointment before disconnecting. Though she’d been troubled by her enigmatic conversation with the lawyer, Eveline soon forgot about the exchange, the daily demands of running her internationally renowned and incredibly successful chain of upscale escort clubs consuming all her attention and focus. Business was booming, especially since she’d opened the latest branch of Le Secret in Singapore.

Eveline swallowed presently and leaned back in the sleek metal and leather chair of the conference room, her knuckles whitening where she gripped the arm rests. Maybe I should have thrown salt over my left shoulder before I left my apartment this morning. Or burned some incense or do whatever it is people do to ward off bad luck.

She studied the two lawyers with narrowed eyes. “Explain to me exactly how this happened.”

Brooks sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose while Kline slid a file across the table.

“It seems Mr. Nagato forged the documents his lawyers provided to us five years ago, when he sold you the plot in Ginza as a freehold,” Brooks said bitterly. “What you actually bought off him was the right to lease. His son-in-law works for the local land registry office and we suspect he made the counterfeit papers. According to one of our contacts in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, the Nagatos have connections with an organized crime syndicate that specializes in land rights grabs.”

Eveline tensed, her gaze skimming the folder before her distractedly. “You mean, they’re part of the Yakuza?”

Kline grimaced. “They are linked to them in a distant, convoluted fashion, yes.”

Eveline’s heart pounded as she digested the implication of the lawyers’ words. The Yakuza were the Japanese equivalent of the Italian Mafia. Having witnessed secondhand what the mob did to their business rivals in New York, Eveline had no desire to associate with the local criminal organizations here in Japan, even if she suspected several of the clients who had visited the Tokyo branch of Le Secret over the last five years had some kind of connection to them.

Eveline clenched her jaw. “What can we do about this? I paid Nagato a hefty sum of money for that land. We’re talking seven figures here, as you both well know.” She paused, an unwelcome thought bringing a bitter taste to her mouth. “Wait. Did he even own that plot? Don’t tell me the asshole sold me someone else’s—”

“He does,” Kline said. “Or he did.”

“We’ve already lodged an appeal in court to contest the new owner’s claim to the freehold,” Brooks said. He ran a hand through his hair. “It’s going to take some time to—”

“New owner?” Eveline scowled. “What the hell do you mean, new owner?” She jumped to her feet and leaned her hands on the table. “Are you telling me that conniving bastard sold my land to someone else?!”

“Yes,” Brooks said quietly. “And this time, the documents he provided were the legitimate ones.”

Eveline took a shuddering breath and closed her eyes briefly, her nails biting into her palms where she’d fisted her fingers.

“I’m gonna kill him,” she hissed. Eveline grabbed her bag and stormed toward the conference room exit. “I’m gonna strangle that lowlife with my bare hands and dump his body in Tokyo Bay! What’s his address?”

“Sit down, Eveline,” Kline said with a sigh.

Eveline stopped by the door and whirled around. “I’m not kidding, Victor! I hope you guys know a good criminal lawyer ‘cause I’m going to need—”

“Nagato is dead,” Brooks said.

Eveline froze. She opened and closed her mouth soundlessly, her eyes rounding as she gaped at the two lawyers.

“What?!” she shrieked.

“Nagato died three weeks ago,” Kline stated. “It was a heart attack, apparently.”

A light-headed feeling swept over Eveline. She made her way back to the table on unsteady legs and flopped down in the chair she had just vacated.

“He completed the sale of the freehold a few days before his death,” Brooks added.

Kline leaned across the table and opened the file in front of Eveline. “This is the letter we received yesterday from the new owner’s law firm.”

Eveline blinked before focusing on the top sheet of the paperwork before her.

“The land in Ginza is now the property of Lincoln Hudson, the President and CEO of the Hudson Group,” Kline continued. “His lawyers have given us formal notice that Le Secret’s leasehold rights will be revoked in thirty days.”

Eveline’s hands trembled as she picked up the letter and read it over, the words blurring in front of her eyes. Her heart sank as she finally absorbed its content.

It was just as Kline had said.

The new owner of the plot on which Le Secret stood had given her thirty days to dissolve her business and vacate his land.

“Wouldn’t a leasehold be for fifty years?” Eveline mumbled. “Can he even do this?”

“The new leasehold law that came into effect twenty-five years ago gives the landowner the right to refuse the leaseholder permission to run a business on his property,” Kline said. “Hudson is completely within his rights to issue a revocation order.”

Blood thundered in Eveline’s ears, the sound matching the emotions storming through her as she stared blindly at the printed text. She put the letter down, inhaled shakily, and stared at the men opposite her.

When it rains, it fucking pours.

“How long will the court appeal take?” she said, her voice growing steely as cogwheels started turning in her brain. She had not come this far in life without learning how to roll with some punches. Eveline frowned. Or how to get back up and knock the enemy right out of the ring.

“Six weeks,” Brooks said.

Eveline drummed the fingers of her right hand on the table, her polished, red-lacquered nails rapping an impatient tempo.

“Can we do anything to expedite it?”

“We’ve got a meeting with one of the judges this afternoon,” Kline said. “As to whether he will be willing to bring the case forward is not something I’d want to bet money on.”

Eveline gritted her teeth. “Do the Hudson Group President and his lawyers know the details of this affair? As in Nagato swindling me out of—”

“They know,” Brooks said. “We spoke to Lincoln Hudson’s lawyers and his secretary yesterday after we received the letter. Hudson’s secretary got back to us thirty minutes ago.”

Eveline leaned forward in her chair, her heart pounding against her ribs. “And? Is he willing to negotiate something?”

“Hudson said that it ain’t his problem,” Kline muttered.

Eveline stilled. “What?”

Brooks rubbed his eyes tiredly. “According to his secretary, Lincoln Hudson’s exact words were ‘I don’t give a flying fuck’.”

Luke Rutherford leaned against the sliding door that opened onto the sun deck and took a sip of his coffee while he watched the man in the pool. His gaze followed the clean lines of Ash Colby’s shoulders and his strong, toned back before lingering on the powerful legs scissoring through the water. Legs that had been wrapped around Luke’s hips only hours ago when they were making love and that had gripped his body with savage ferocity when Ash came apart beneath him, his hole quivering and clenching hungrily on Luke’s dick while he bowed his spine and cried out in mindless pleasure.

Luke still couldn’t believe the gorgeous young man cleaving the water so seamlessly twenty feet from where he stood was finally his. Having doted on Ash since the day he was born and been consumed with desire for him for the last six years, Luke had always imagined his forbidden love for the boy who had grown up looking up to him as a brother was doomed from the start. Furthermore, as Ash’s former guardian and the current trustee of the Colby trust fund, Luke had known acting on his carnal urges would blur the boundaries of acceptable behavior, even after Ash turned eighteen and stopped being his ward. Besides, Luke hadn’t ever once imagined Ash would even care for him in that way.

That Ash had been in love with him for even longer than he had, had come as a complete shock to Luke.

It wasn’t until Luke had forcibly relocated Ash from Stanford to Singapore two months ago that the complicated charade both men had been playing for the last five years finally came crashing down around them. Uprooting Ash from the only life he had ever known in the US was not a decision Luke had taken lightly, the drastic measure having been forced upon him by the actions of Ash’s estranged Aunt Catherine Bernardino—the sister of Ash’s dead father, Charles Colby.

Half a decade after Luke squashed the beginnings of a deadly plot that could have ended Ash’s life and delivered the substantial inheritance locked in the Colby trust fund to his only living relative, Catherine, the woman had had the gall to contact Luke again to blackmail him. Having paid her and her husband off handsomely to get the hell out of Ash’s life for good, Luke had not taken kindly to her threat, nor had he been able to control his rage when he discovered the true extent of the damage the woman who had nearly destroyed his and Ash’s relationship had caused all those years ago.

It was only Ash’s presence that quelled his burning desire to find and physically hurt Catherine that day. Ash’s touch that soothed Luke’s agonizing pain at the realization that he had inadvertently hurt the person he loved most in this world. Ash’s kiss that transformed the storm inside his heart into a maelstrom of passion that had seen Luke take the young man’s virginity, finally making him his in every sinful and sacred sense of the word.

It was also Ash who had abruptly ended the nightmare situation Catherine had been trying to create to extract more money from Luke. Having broken the permanent injunction order forbidding the Bernardinos from making any form of contact with Ash, the couple had had a petition for contempt filed against them in California in the last month and were currently facing jail time. Add to this fresh evidence gathered by the PI firm Luke had had keeping an eye out on them showing the fraudulent investments they had made with the money Luke had given them five years ago, and Luke knew he and Ash had finally seen the last of the Bernardinos.

With Ash settling into his new life at the university in Singapore and their relationship coming along in leaps and bounds, Luke had never known such happiness.

His dick stirred as Ash completed his final lap and climbed out of the pool, sunlight dancing on his glistening, honey-colored skin, and toned limbs. Not only was Luke utterly and blissfully content, he had also never been so completely and utterly sexually satisfied.

Luke had discovered he possessed a high sex drive when he was still in his teens and had bedded plenty of women and men over the years to fulfill his formidable carnal needs. Yet the gratification he found in Ash’s arms was something new to him. More than the searing pleasure of being inside Ash’s body, more than the fierce orgasms they achieved every time they made love, what Luke treasured above all was the sense of completeness he found in Ash’s arms. He had never felt so whole in his entire life. It was as if they were two pieces of a puzzle, made for one another from the day they were born and destined to be together for eternity.

The fiery ardor of their first night together had only gotten stronger in the last two months, with Ash as eager to explore his burgeoning sensuality as Luke was keen to teach him. Seeing Ash discover what a sexual being he was had become Luke’s new addiction, as was watching the young man climax. It was a craving that had been too long denied, a secret obsession that consumed Luke whenever they breathed the same air.

Ash dried himself with a towel and headed toward him, oblivious to the filthy thoughts crowding Luke’s mind. “Morning.” He rose on his tiptoes and dropped a chaste peck on Luke’s lips, his steel-blue gaze bright. “I thought I’d take an early morning swim before we started our day. What time is John’s housewarming party again?”

Luke placed his coffee on the garden table, looped his arm around Ash’s waist, and pulled him in tight before swooping down to take his mouth in a searing kiss. Ash moaned and eagerly parted his lips, letting Luke in. Their tongues clashed deliciously. Ash dropped the towel and gripped Luke’s shoulders, his glazed eyes fluttering closed under the sensual assault.

Luke was rock hard by the time he ended the kiss.

“It starts at two,” he murmured, his pulse racing erratically.

John Peace, Luke’s secretary, had finally given in to his long-suffering partner’s wishes and bought a place with him.

“What do you have to do before then?” Ash asked hoarsely, his hips twitching and his erection digging into Luke’s left thigh.

Luke swallowed a groan.

You. I want to do you.

Although Luke wanted nothing more than to take the young man in his arms and go straight back to bed to fuck the living daylights out of him, some urgent paperwork needed his attention. Being the head of the billion-dollar Rutherford Industries and the only surviving heir of the Rutherford dynasty meant hardly a day passed when Luke didn’t have something to do for work, even on a Sunday. Not that he minded it. He would never have driven Rutherford Industries to the dizzying heights of success they had achieved since he took command of his family business had he not truly been passionate about the job.

Still, Luke always made sure to find time for Ash since he’d moved the young man in with him. Like having dinner together every night even if it meant Ash coming over to his office in Marina Bay and bringing the meals their housekeeper, Xin, prepared for them when Luke was having a late night at work. Or their lazy Sunday mornings when they would have breakfast out on the sun deck and relax in each other’s company.

“I need to look over some documents,” Luke said reluctantly. “You?”

Ash grimaced.

“I have a couple more hours to do on an assignment due tomorrow.” He wrinkled his beautiful nose. “Remember that international architecture and design competition I told you about—the one in Madrid? Well, my supervisor at Stanford and my new professor here entered me into it without telling me first. The deadline is in six weeks. I have to work on that project as well as all my regular coursework.”

Luke’s heart swelled with pride. He’d always known Ash was incredibly talented. The fact that the people around Ash were acknowledging this in their own way thrilled Luke like few things could.

He dropped a kiss on Ash’s forehead and tipped his chin up.

“You can do it. I believe in you.”

Ash smiled, his eyes sparkling with happiness. His expression faltered a moment later. “Shit.”

“What?” Luke said, tensing up.

Ash tugged his lower lip between his teeth and dropped his gaze to Luke’s mouth. “I really wanna have sex right now.”

Luke groaned at the sinfully sensuous look on Ash’s face. This kid will be the death of me.

“Don’t,” Luke muttered. “I’m only barely holding on myself.”

Ash’s eyes widened when his gaze dropped to Luke’s glorious erection tenting the front of his pajama bottoms. He grinned and ran his index finger along Luke’s hard length.

“What a brave trooper.”

Luke shuddered, his cock jerking at Ash’s teasing touch. “You’re playing with fire, Ash,” he warned gruffly.

Ash looked up at him, his eyes darkening, his expression utterly unrepentant. “We gave Xin the day off, right?”

Luke nodded, not trusting himself to speak.

Ash’s lips curved in a seductive grin. He raised his hands to his hips and took off his swimming trunks.

Luke’s pulse spiked as his hot gaze roamed Ash’s delectable, naked body and his straining, flushed dick.

Ash arched an eyebrow. “I bet I can halve the time it takes to complete that assignment. Why don’t you look over your documents and come find me? I’ll be in the bedroom.” Ash licked his lips and palmed Luke’s cock lightly. “Waiting for you to sink this—,” he tugged playfully on Luke’s shaft, causing him to groan, “—so deep inside me, I’ll see stars.”

Ash headed past Luke and gave him a come-hither look over his shoulder as he sashayed into the mansion, the swimming trunks swinging carelessly from his index finger.

Fuck.

Luke vacillated for all of five seconds before following Ash.

His reason fled when he entered the bedroom and found Ash lying on their bed, fingers already working lube into his ass while he stroked his hard dick, his thighs open wide in an unmistakable invitation, his blue eyes dark and sultry with desire.

Luke was inside Ash in less than ten seconds and brought him to his first orgasm in under five minutes.

They barely made it to John’s housewarming party.
