My Review:
R Is for Rebel is definitely a roller-coaster ride. Not having read the first three books in the series, I found myself a bit confused as to what some of the other characters were referring to in the book, but it got more understandable later on in the story. Megan Mulry does a good job describing what each character in the book is feeling or going through, which I liked.
The book starts off with Abigail talking to her brother about her recent break-up. We don't get a lot of details of how she ends up with her ex-girlfriend, but she starts to have feelings for Eliot Cranbrook, a family friend, rather quickly. In the book Abigail is described as a free spirit/ bohemian royal,which it made the book that much more interesting to read. After so many years away with her ex-girlfriend, Abigail doesn't know what to do with herself and that's when Eliot, her friend, comes into the picture and helps her brainstorm what she could do. Despite all their differences, they seem to get along very well. Eliot is understanding and charming, but behind all of that he is a very smart businessman who enjoys traveling and spending time with her. But the more time they spend together, the more she starts to feel that Eliot wants more from her than she is able to give at the moment and will have to decide whether or not to be with him or let him go.
Eliot Cranbrook is a fashion lover, he enjoys luxury and being friends with a very respected/royal family is just what he needs when he meets Abigal Heyworth. He years to have something much more with Abigal and he is determined to let her see just how right they are together. But just when is about to keep her for good, she turns him down and everything falls apart. Now after a year apart, things have changed and he'll have to decide whether or not to forget about or fight for her.
Abigal and Eliot's interaction with each other is intense from the very beginning. They are attracted to one another, but Abigal is the one that doesn't want to commit. One of the things about this book is that it's not about both their growths, just Abigal's. She is the one that has to find herself and discover what she really wants and fight for it. I enjoyed reading about the other characters in the book and it does make me want to read the first three books of the series. Although I might have just spoiled myself with what happens in the future for them, so I would recommend reading the first three books to those that want to know more background stories before getting into this book, (it can also be read as a stand-alone). I would have liked to see more scenes in the book of them both, but the ending was satisfying and I really enjoyed it.
