My Review:
As a successful entrepreneur, Roman Costas, takes pride of what he’s been able to achieve with the help of his younger brother. Although he might be perceived as cold, dangerous and private. Roman has grown up in a world of organized crime and knows the dangers that come with running that side of the family business. It’s his legitimate casino business that Roman overseas has made him a wealthy man and there is a part of him that wonders what it would be like to walk away from the family legacy. That is until he unknowingly puts an innocent woman in danger that has him ready to burn the whole city down in order to protect her. Roman never intended to connect with Effie, she is kind and the completely opposite of him. Yet, the more he gets to know her, the harder it becomes to let her go.
Effie Warner never expected to be caught in the middle of Roman’s world. Now her life is in danger and has no where else to go. It’s when her business gets threatened, that she has no choice but to turn to Roman. For someone who is feared in his world, he is nothing but attentive towards her. He vows to protect no matter what, something she is not sued to feeling. After all, it was someone closer to her that put her in the danger she is in.
I absolutely loved reading Roman, it explosive conclusion to the duet just keeps getting better! If you love an overly protective hero with a twist, then this is the book for you. Both of the characters have backstories that had me hooked from the very beginning and we get to see them develop in the story. While Effie might not have the best relationship with her sister, Roman has been able to keep his relationship stronger with his brother even after going through a lot growing up. It’s their pasts that have shaped their present and future as well. It’s up to them to rely on each other if they want a shot a real relationship. All in all, the ending was perfect, I would highly recommend checking out this book. I cannot wait to read what Moreland comes up with next. :)
