Within these walls, he became my solace, my sanctuary and my strength.

I am not strong. I am just a survivor of circumstance.
Isn’t that what we all do? Survive?

Each of us has our own set of circumstances to muddle through. Mine are just more…complicated. Born with a severe heart defect, I’ve seen the inside of a hospital room more than my own bedroom.

I was drowning, a prisoner to the illness that owned me, until he appeared. He thinks he’s blocked out the world with his tattoos and hard exterior, but I see the real Jude, the one he so desperately wants to forget.

But is he the answer to my prayers or will he break my already damaged heart forever?

My name is Lailah Buchanan, and this is our story of hope, redemption and sacrificing it all for the one you love. (Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

Once, the only thing that mattered to me was football—training, playing, and earning my place on the best team at every level. I had it all, and I threw it away with a semester of drugs, alcohol, and pissing off anyone who tried to stop me. Now I’m suspended from the team, on house arrest, and forced to spend a semester at home to get my shit together. The cherry on my fuckup sundae? Sleeping in the room next to mine is my best friend’s girl, Mia Mendez—the only woman I’ve ever loved and a reminder of everything I regret.

I’m not sure if having Mia so close will be heaven or hell. She’s off-limits—and not just because she’s working for my dad. Her heart belongs to someone else. But since the accident that killed her brother and changed everything, she walks around like a zombie, shutting out her friends and ignoring her dreams. We’re both broken, numb, and stuck in limbo.

Until I break my own rules and touch her.
Until she saves me from my nightmares by climbing into my bed.
Until the only thing I want more than having Mia for myself is to protect her from the truth.

I can’t rewrite the past, but I refuse to leave her heart in the hands of fate. For this girl, I’d climb into the sky and rearrange the stars.

SPINNING OUT is a sexy, emotional novel of 100,000 words. It is first in the Blackhawk Boys, a series of standalone novels.

Elfin
by Quinn Loftis
Release Date: December 23rd 2012
Series: The Elfin #1
Pages: 389
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
Author's Links: Goodreads, Website, Twitter, Facebook

Before tonight Cassie Tate’s biggest concerns were whether she could pass Algebra and how she was going to keep Elora, her best friend, from dressing her in a skimpy fairy costume for Halloween. Her feet were firmly planted in suburban reality and she had no reason to believe her life would be anything but that of a typical teenager. That is until tonight, when Cassie saw something that no human was ever supposed to see; in the blink of an eye she was thrown into the world of the Light and Dark Elves.

He comes from a realm where light and dark have fought for millennia. He is of a race known to humans only in myths and legends. The darkness that lives inside him is a part of both who and what he is and it makes him the most gifted spy and assassin in the history of his time. His life is not his own; he lives in the service of the Dark Elf King. He slays who he must, has mercy on no one, is relentless in his hunt, and never tires of seeing his prey fall. He is Triktapic, assassin, spy, most feared of the Dark Elves.

Now, in the midst of his King’s complicated plans to expand the Dark Elves’ holdings into the mortal realm, for the first time, Trik finds his loyalties divided. For no Elf, Dark or Light, can turn away from their Chosen.

Unbeknownst to the mortal realm, the battle between Light and Dark is being brought to their doorstep. The only one who can keep it at bay holds darkness in his heart like a lover, and the one who can sway that heart must decide if she can look beyond his black past, beyond his evil nature and see the man he is destined to be.

The question must be asked, does love really cover a multitude of sins? Can true love actually conquer all or will his darkness consume those around him until all that stands is an assassin with the blood of the mortal realm on his hands?

✯BLOG TOUR:✯ Behind Closed Doors by J.L. Berg {REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!}

Behind Closed Doors by J.L. Berg

Release Date: September 11th 2016 by JL Berg, LLC
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

My name is Roman Cavenaugh and I’m kind of an asshole.

Running a company isn't easy, especially when everyone expects you to fail, so being a jerk? It comes with the territory.

I don't have time to mess around, and I sure as hell didn’t see her coming.
Cara Hamilton—she was supposed to be off limits…a temporary employee brought in during my assistant’s maternity leave.

But, in the blink of an eye, she became so much more.

An obsession I couldn’t shake.

So yeah, I may be an asshole, but now, I finally had a purpose, and soon, she would be mine.
All’s fair in love and war…

Purchase: Amazon, B&N, iBooks, Kobo, Paperback

My Review:

From the cover to the synopsis, I was immediately intrigued with the story and it did not disappoint at all. Right at the beginning of the story we get to meet Roman Cavenaugh, a successful businessman whose CEO status makes everyone afraid of him. He is ruthless and always has high expectations, but that all comes to a stop when he gets a temporary assistant. It's all supposed to be business, but Cara Hamilton is different, and that is exactly what he wasn't expecting at all. Now as the two start to spend more time with each other, the more chemistry starts to grow, and soon he has to find a way to make Care his.

For Cara Hamilton moving to New York has been a huge step, especially moving from a small town in Nebraska. Now following her dream to the big city along with her boyfriend, she is ready to start a new life. Yet, after trying to find a stable job, she gets a last minute offer to be Roman's temporary assistant. This would have been perfect for her, but she never imagined just how much her life was about to change.

I absolutely loved reading Behind Closed Doors, there is a lot of chemistry between the characters that had me reading non stop. There is also character development in the characters throughout the story. Cara is nice and caring, she wants to make a name for herself in the big city, but transitioning from her old life to her new one has proven to be a bit hard. She has a boyfriend to think about, and their relationship is put to the test when they start to drift apart. On the other had, there is Roman whose past have made him the way he is now. He wants to prove to the whole world that he is capable of making the family business grow, and will not stop at nothing until he succeeds. It is when Roman finally meets his match that he is able to slowly let go of his past. Ultimately they have to decide whether they can be  together or not. The ending was my favorite part, it's sweet and ties everything together. I would highly recommend reading this book, you will not regret it. :)

Forgetting August
by J.L. Berg
Release Date: December 1st 2015 by Forever
Series: Lost & Found #1
Pages: 384
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Contemporary

She can forgive, but can she forget?

Some days, Everly still thinks she sees him. In the food court at the mall, or in a car speeding past as the light changes. It only lasts a second, but when it happens, she slips back to a time when she was ruled-and nearly ruined-by August Kincaid. And it doesn't matter that she's moved on, that she's about to marry another man. In those moments the only thing she can do to regain control is take a deep breath and remind herself that August can't hurt her-because he's in a coma. Except that he's not anymore.

August is awake. With no memories, he sets out to solve the mystery of his lost life. He unearths a photograph of a beautiful redhead named Everly and knows instinctively that she's the key. But when he finds her, the August she describes is more monster than man.

Tortured by the thought of having hurt her, August wants only to become the man Everly deserves. As the new August emerges, Everly glimpses the person she first fell in love with. But can she trust that this August is real? When the final secret of their shared past is revealed, one of them will make a choice that changes their future forever . . .
(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

Forgetting August was one of those stories that was full of twists and turns that I could not stop reading until the very end. From the cover to the synopsis, Berg completely pulled me into a very interesting and complex storyline that kept me at edge of my seat. There were a lot of elements in the story that I absolutely loved and that somehow worked in the story very well.

At the beginning of the story we get to meet Everly, and immediately find out that she is engaged. Though she is happy with her fiancee, she still thinks about her ex, especially when she gets the call that she had been dreading for a very long time. Now she has to face the horrible past that she has been trying to move on from, but can't because she has to face the man that somehow ruined her life. Although we don't immediately find out what her ex did to her, we do get flashbacks of when she was with him that slowly reveal what actually happened to her. The minute she finds out that her ex is in a coma, Everly escapes her past only to get a call from the hospital letting her know that August has woken up. Now it quickly becomes a matter of whether she wants to see him or not. But that changes completely when she finds out that August doesn't remember her at all or what happened to him.

At that point Everly's life escalates rather fast when she realizes that she still has feelings for August and that in order to move on she needs to help him remember what happened to them. The only thing that she wasn't counting on was just how good it would feel to be with him again, that's when the story really starts to take off and Everly has to make a big choice in the end that could alter her life yet again.

As for August, the minute he wakes up from the coma everything around him is confusing and he has no recollection of what happened to him at all. His mind is blank and the minute he finds Everly's picture in his wallet, he makes it his mission to find her no matter what. But little by little he finds out what he used to do and what he did to those that he loved that he wants to change. August knows that he loves Everly and he is willing to change for her, but a misunderstanding gets in the way and they have to part ways.

I very much enjoyed reading this book, it was a page turner that kept me intrigued in the storyline and the characters. In terms of character development there really isn't a lot of it, the story was more of a mystery type that slowly revealed itself to us as readers. There were times when the story felt a bit unrealistic, especially in the last couple of chapters. Needless to say, I was shocked with how everything ended that I cannot wait to read the sequel because it's going to be really good. I can't really say more of the story, I feel that the book it's one of those stories that you just have to read without knowing much at all about it. Overall, if you're looking for a great mystery/romance story then I would highly recommend reading this book. : )
