🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 Reasons Why Not to Date Your Nemesis by Melanie Munton {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

Why Not to Date Your Nemesis by Melanie Munton

Release Date: October 4th 2022
Series: Shell Grove #2
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

There’s a new sheriff in town…
And he’s her worst nightmare.

Reason #1: Ben Crawford is Olivia Knight’s long-time arch rival. They’ve been sworn enemies ever since she wore overalls to school one day, and he asked her in homeroom where she parked her cow. Now that he’s back, it doesn’t appear much has changed. He’s still arrogant. He’s still trouble. And this time, he’s got a badge and handcuffs. Which will make murdering him and disposing of his body much more challenging for her.

Reason #2: Sheriff Ben has done a lot of growing up during his time away from Shell Grove. He went and got himself some muscles and tattoos, and has the nerve to wear that sheriff’s uniform absurdly well. For some reason, that’s all she can seem to focus on whenever they cross paths. All the nice changes he’s made, instead of how vehemently she’s vowed to hate his guts for all eternity.

Reason #3: The complicated connection that has forever entwined their lives doesn’t have a pleasant backstory. As adults, they should be able to forget what happened when they were teenagers and move on. But in a small town where everyone has long memories, there are reminders everywhere of the nasty events that destroyed both of their families years ago. And she’s not sure their growing feelings for each other are enough to forgive the sins of the past and carve out a future…together.

Ben has a secret. A big one. The longer he’s in Shell Grove and surrounded by people who know his sordid history, the more likely that secret is going to come out. But if it does, Olivia will never speak to him again. Which will not do. Because he’s finally realized that Olivia is the reason why he came back to town in the first place. And if he doesn’t want to lose her forever, he needs to correct the mistakes he made a long time ago and prove he’s not the NEMESIS she’s always thought him to be.

{EXCERPT}

Ben was barely listening to the conversation around him since a familiar tingling sensation had started crawling up the back of his neck. It was the anticipation of getting eyes on Olivia, needing eyes on her. Making sure that no one was heckling her, that she was having a good time.

Oh, who are you bullshitting? You don’t want her having a good time with another guy.

It made him a bastard, but yeah. He honestly didn’t know what he would do if he saw her flirting with another man. Probably break something. Maybe whip out his cuffs and threaten to arrest some motherfuckers. Which was completely insane. He needed to bottle that shit up immediately before the crazy started to show on his face.

Something over Finn’s shoulder caught his attention, and Ben saw red.

He took it all back. There was a motherfucker that definitely needed arresting.

The one currently chatting up his girl.

Your girl? Since when, Benny?

Some douchebag wearing a blue button-up shirt with whales all over it was smiling at Olivia from ear-to-ear as they stood next to the food truck-turned-mobile tiki bar, Freaky Tiki. He didn’t recognize the guy, but he was openly flirting with the wrong woman.

“Be right back,” he bit out to his friends and took off storming across the sand.

He’d tried to control it. It wasn’t like they had agreed to be exclusive. They weren’t even dating, for Christ’s sake. But Ben acting on his jealousy toward Olivia had become a compulsion in a remarkably short period of time. Any man that showed the slightest interest in her, he wanted to pummel into the fucking ground. He knew it was selfish and irrational and completely unfair of him. But controlling that impulse—the impulse to do something and mark his territory—was as impossible as telling his dick to chill the fuck out every time it was in her presence.

He was closing in on them before he took stock of himself.

And oh, he really should have.

The county sheriff was barreling down on The Freaky Tiki like he was about to put somebody on their ass. People on the beach got out of his way and watched him with wide eyes, probably hoping they were about to catch something on their phones they could post on their socials. But he wasn’t going to get physical with the guy. Probably not. He was just going to intimidate the hell out of him until he put at least a good twenty feet between his body and Olivia’s.

Olivia caught sight of him approaching over Moby Dick’s shoulder, her face betraying her shock.

“Evening, Liv.”

Her companion jolted because yeah, Ben had snuck up right behind him and the guy hadn’t even noticed. Military training strikes again. It wasn’t like Moby Dick was a shrimp by any means, but Ben still had inches and pounds on him. In the physical sense, Ben didn’t feel threatened at all. But when another male started sniffing around Olivia…he saw everything as a fucking threat. A simple nod, an innocent smile. Any behavior that was targeted at her for the express purpose of showing sexual or romantic interest risked the possibility of Olivia nodding back at someone else. Of her smiling back at someone that wasn’t him. And oftentimes, smiling was a gateway to so much more.

“Hello, Sheriff.”

As casual a greeting as that was, her voice was anything but. The husky quality to her words belied an intimacy between them. A personal history.

He fucking loved hearing that.

She cleared her throat and yanked her gaze away. “Um. Colin, this is Sheriff Crawford.”

Moby Dick shrewdly inspected him for a few seconds before rising to his full height that was still an inch or two shorter than Ben’s. “Nice to meet you.”

When he stuck out his hand, Ben didn’t move to shake it. In fact, he didn’t address Dick at all.

To Olivia, he gritted out, “Could I have a word?”

🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 Scars & Sins by Melanie Munton {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

Scars & Sins by Melanie Munton

Release Date: March 31st 2020
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

We are the Rossetti's.
The exiled "sixth" family of the New York mafia. We're the good guys.
People don't fear us...much. They respect us.
The five of us? We're the Brooklyn Brothers.
And we protect what's ours.

You know when you have a little sister and she has that one friend that always follows you around like a puppy? For me, that was Roxanna "Roxy" D'Angelo. That was years ago, back when our fathers didn't hate each other. Then they became enemies and she went off to boarding school in Connecticut.

Now, she's back...and looking nothing like the shy girl I remember.

Cavorting with anyone from the five families is strictly forbidden to someone like me. So, I can't figure out why I keep finding myself in situations with Roxy that could bring the force of the entire mafia syndicate down on our heads. Even if those situations are the wildest, most intoxicating experiences of my life.

But with the Sicilians in town and out for blood, times have never been more dangerous. If they find out about our relationship, they won't hesitate to remove both of us from the equation so they can restore order.

We're not Romeo and Juliet. They both died. And I refuse to let anything happen to Roxy. I have to protect her. From my family. From hers.

I hope she won't hate me for what I have to do.
Because it might just kill her before any bullet can.

{EXCERPT}

Roxy

After exiting the confessional booth, I once again avoided going out to the cemetery where Mamà and Filip were buried. I knew I would fall into an emotional sinkhole if I saw their graves and re-visited that particular heartbreak.

Unable to face the ghosts of my past, I kept walking.

Today was my day off and Ace said he had a long day of work at The Met. So, I figured I would go back to his place, get some reading done, maybe binge-watch a little bit of—

Someone yanked on my arm and jerked me to the side just before I reached the church’s front doors.

“What the—”

“Shh, baby.”

I sighed. “You’ve got to stop doing that.”

I swear, it was like he knew whenever I needed him and would magically appear at the right moment. Although by the look on his face, I’d say he was the one who needed me this time.

“What’s wrong?”

His lips met mine in a deep, hard kiss.

“Nothing,” he breathed. “I just want you.”

My eyes darted in every direction. “Here? Right now? Ace, this is a church.”

His hands slid down below my waist and cupped my ass.

“Is anyone here?” he mumbled, his face buried in my neck.

“Just the priest, I think, but we still can’t—”

“Yes, we can.”

Refusing to leave room for argument, he led me across the tiled floors of the lobby and opened the door in the far corner—a coat closet. He pulled me inside, deaf to my protests, and shut the door behind us.

It was pitch black.

“Where the hell is the light in here?” he grumbled.

I heard his hand fumbling against the wall, looking for a switch that wasn’t there. He sounded so frustrated, it was hard to contain my giggles. Then he pulled on the cord hanging from the ceiling that was presumably hooked to the only lightbulb.

Nothing happened.

The bulb was out.

That’s when I really lost the battle with my laughter.

“I’m glad you think this is so funny,” he growled. “Let’s see if you’re still laughing when I do this.”

He shoved both my shirt and bra up with lightning fast speed. When his mouth latched onto my nipple and sucked, I lost another battle—this time with my resistance.

🌟 BOOK BLITZ 🌟 Lace and Lies by Melanie Munton {EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!}

Lace and Lies by Melanie Munton

Release Date: January 21st 2020
Pages: 291
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

We are the Rossetti’s.
The exiled “sixth family” of the New York mafia. We’re the good guys.
People don’t fear us…much. They respect us.
The five of us? We’re the Brooklyn Brothers.
And we protect what’s ours.

Jasmine Kingston should run from me. I mean, she should literally pick up her dress, toss away her heels, and haul ass in the complete opposite direction. Because for the last few months that she’s been in New York and taking the fashion world by storm, I’ve been watching her. From my ivory tower, from the shadows. Wherever she’s been, I’ve been only feet away, and she hasn’t even realized it.

Until now.

I can’t stay away and watch one more man take his shot with her. She needs to know what she’s doing to me. Especially since things are heating up with my family’s enemies. I just pray those enemies don’t discover my only weakness.
Maybe it was the wrong way to go. Maybe I should never have touched her. Never treated myself to her addictive taste. But I can’t alleviate this obsession I have with her any more than I can put a bullet between my own eyes.

She’s mine to protect now.
I’ll burn my entire fortune to the ground and take ten of those bullets before I let anything happen to her.

I just hope she doesn’t find out what I’ve done.

{EXCERPT}

Cris

I stepped forward and braced my hand against the wall. Not caging her in, but not giving her a clear escape either.

“First of all, you have no idea what I have the time or patience for.”

I followed that statement up with a brash once-over of her body, lingering on certain enticing areas, like her legs and tits. I wanted those thigh-high boots wrapped around my waist so much it was driving me fucking crazy.

When her eyelids drooped just the slightest bit, I knew I’d affected her.

“Second of all,” I continued, lowering my head, “when it comes to something I want, I’m adeptly skilled at removing any and all complications from the equation.”

Those almond-shaped eyes of hers were going to kill me. They had the quality of innocence, yet when she looked at me, they grew heavy with desire. The same thing had happened the night before on that veranda.

To make matters worse, she was the type of woman who wore lipstick really well. So well that whenever I’d fantasized about her while stroking off, my imagination had my dick smeared with various shades of red and purple from her lips. Each and every time.

Jasmine’s entire look was like a contradiction between virtuous and sinful.

I wasn’t sure which one of those turned me on more.

Christ, you’re sick.

“You say that like you’re the kind of man who always gets what he wants.”

You have no idea.

“I work very hard to see that I do.”

She narrowed her eyes. “Do you always approach a situation like an equation needing to be solved?”

The corner of my mouth twitched. “More like a puzzle needing to be pieced together.”

And she was by far the most complex puzzle I’d ever encountered.

She looked like she was still thinking things over, which again, I didn’t like. Goddammit, I wanted to be irresistible to her. I wanted her to not have to think about whether or not she wanted me. Because my God, the woman was beyond irresistible to me. At this point, she had become a necessity in my life, and she wasn’t even really in my life yet.

How fucked up was that?

I reached down and took a strand of her hair between my fingers.

Silky. Smooth.

She’d kept it straight at her show the night before, but now it flowed down her back in big, romantic curls. The look suited her best. Completely feminine and soft. I wanted to bury my hands in that hair and pull hard while my tongue took control of her mouth. I wanted to feel it draping over my thighs as she took my cock inside her mouth. I wanted to see it splayed across my pillow the morning after I’d taken her so many times she passed out from exhaustion.

Fuck.

I needed that so goddamn bad, it felt like my balls were about to explode.

“I like it with curls,” I whispered, my mouth grazing her temple.

I heard her breath hitch.

I grinned. My touch did something to her. I knew it. It was all the confirmation I needed.

“Just give me a chance, Jasmine. Let me buy you a drink. If you still feel the same way at the end of the night, we’ll call tomorrow off and you never have to speak to me again.”

Her breaths were coming faster. When I leaned back and looked down, her eyes were closed, her mouth slightly parted.

Jesus Christ.

I needed to back off before I started begging her to let me fuck her in one of the bathroom stalls.

“Okay,” she eventually whispered. “Let’s just see how tonight goes.”

She said that like the result of tonight’s little tryout wasn’t already a foregone conclusion.

But in my mind, it absolutely was. Irrefutably.

Because I’d come to realize something. Jasmine wasn’t the type who needed a gentle hand. She didn’t need or want a man to treat her like delicate china. And she sure as hell wasn’t looking for a provider. She had shown the world she could more than take care of herself.

Jasmine didn’t know who I really was. Therefore, she had no clue how much I could truly give her. What I could do for her, especially in the ways of pleasure.

Which meant I was going to have to show her.

And if that meant allowing my dominant nature that I usually kept locked away to rise to the surface, well so fucking be it.

She had no idea what she’d just unleashed.

I put my bag of groceries on the kitchen counter and start grabbing all the pots and pans I’ll need. Twenty minutes later, I’m alternating chicken, sausage, prosciutto, and shrimp to sauté in a pan while cutting up tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and garlic cloves. The scents of dinner fill the house, reminding me of childhood nights listening to my parents cook together in the kitchen while dancing along to their favorite Old World tunes.

“What are you doing?”

I turn around to find Sophie standing in the middle of the kitchen in a white tank top and striped lounge pants with wet hair. I love seeing her fresh-faced and comfortable like this, when she’s not trying to grab another man’s attention by dressing like a vixen in heels. Ironically, I’m finding it harder to look away from her now than ever before. I’d like to think I’m the only man who has ever seen her like this and who also knows the pleasures of her body.

“Cooking dinner,” I answer, turning back to the stove.

“Why?”

I cringe. My mother would be so disappointed to hear that the woman I’m in love with is shocked I’m cooking dinner for her and her family.

“Because I want to and because you all need to eat.”

“I-I was going to do it,” she blusters, sounding almost offended. “I can take care of us.”

Ah, there it is. The woman is so bull-headed and prideful and independent. She doesn’t like the implication that she isn’t capable of taking care of her family. God, I love her.

I look over my shoulder, softening my voice. “No one is saying you can’t. I know you enjoy cooking, but I wanted to give you a break. And maybe I wanted to show off my cooking skills a little.”

She bites her lip, her gaze darting to the stovetop. “What are you cooking?”

“Paella. My mother will roll over in her grave if I don’t impress people with her recipe.”

I focus on bringing the onion and bell peppers to a simmer while she processes.

After several silent moments, she asks, “Is there anything I can help with?”

It’s a damn good thing my back is to her because my smile is both smug and victorious. “You can open the bottle of wine on the counter.”

I hear drawers open, followed by a pop as she uses the corkscrew. Then a glass full of white wine is held out in front of me. Our eye contact is intense as I take it from her. “Thank you.”

She nods and takes a sip from her glass. “I tried to make paella once.”

“And?”

She winces. “It basically turned into gumbo.”

I chuckle. “It takes some time to perfect. You want me to show you?”

She’s clearly hesitant but gives in. “Okay.”

Over the next forty-five minutes, I explain in detail each step to creating an authentic Spanish paella dish. She’s attentive and eager to copy what I do or try by herself. I’m working so hard to keep my dick under control, but she’s not making it easy at all. Especially when she sidles up next to me, grazing her breasts against my arm. Or when she insists on taking over and steps in front of me at the stove, placing her ass right up against my crotch. Or when a bit of olive oil pops in the pan and she jolts back to avoid getting burned.

The fight against an erection is lost after that.

She freezes when she feels the full impact of my hardness. My muscles lock up—I don’t even breathe—as I wait to see what she’s going to do. I was hoping we’d made some progress, even microscopic, after our angry fucking in a filthy alley last night. I feel her begin to melt against me, her ass cushioning my bulge the more she relaxes.

“Smells good in here,” her mother announces from behind us.

Sophie shoots forward, but not before—did she just wiggle her ass against me? I spot the coy smile she tries to hide from me and feel my chest swell about fifty sizes.

It’s working.

She’s coming back to me. Slowly and—I adjust myself as discreetly as I can, preparing for the blue balls—painfully coming back, but at least it’s happening.
