Love is somewhere near the bottom of Lily Thomas’ list of life goals, right next to competitive eating and underwater cave diving. She’s spent six years pirouetting and pliΓ©ing her way up the ranks of the New York Ballet with her eye on the prize and love in the back seat. But now that Blane Baker -- Lily’s long time crush -- is finally single, she’ll throw her rules out the window without thinking twice.

Reality with Blane isn’t as epic as the fantasy she imagined, and the truth sends her spinning straight into the arms of the man she never knew she’d always wanted.

West Williams has been friends with Lily since the day she moved into their building and he saved her armoire from a swift, sudden death by staircase. Their friendship has always been easy, the boundaries clearly defined. With neither of them willing to risk their relationship, they’ve drifted happily through the years as companions, never considering more.

That is, until they do. And that realization changes everything.

With a Twist is a standalone romantic comedy and part of the Bad Habits series

The old eddas speak of dreki—fabled creatures who haunt the depths of Iceland's volcanoes and steal away fair maidens.

Freyja wants none of such myths. Dreki seducing young ladies? Ha. They probably eat such foolish girls. But when the local drekisteals her last ram—costing her any chance of feeding her ill father through the winter—Freyja intends to confront the fearsome myth.

Sentenced to a life of exile from his clan, Rurik is fascinated by the furious woman who comes to claim her ram. She reeks of mysterious magic and challenges him at every step. He intends to claim the passionate firebrand, but to do so he must take mortal form. It's the only time the dreki are vulnerable, and with a dragon-hunter arriving on the shores of Iceland, he can barely afford the risk—but lonely Freyja, with her elf-cursed eyes and pragmatic soul, tempts him in ways he's never felt before. ✯RELEASE DAY LAUNCH:✯ A Thousand Letters by Staci Hart {REVIEW}

A Thousand Letters by Staci Hart

Release Date: February 9th 2017
Pages: 282
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Sometimes your life is split by a single decision.

I’ve spent every day of the last seven years regretting mine: he left, and I didn’t follow. A thousand letters went unanswered, my words like petals in the wind, spinning away into nothing, taking me with them.

But now he’s back.

I barely recognize the man he’s become, but I can still see a glimmer of the boy who asked me to be his forever, the boy I walked away from when I was young and afraid.

Maybe if he’d come home under better circumstances, he could speak to me without anger in his voice. Maybe if I’d said yes all those years ago, he’d look at me without the weight of rejection in his eyes. Maybe if things were different, we would have had a chance.

One regretted decision sent him away. One painful journey brought him back to me. I only wish I could keep him.

*A contemporary romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion*

My Review:

A Thousand Letters was such a touching and hopeful story that will leave you wanting for more.

From the synopsis to the heartwarming cover, the author did an amazing job setting up the story and well developed characters that were relatable to read. At the very beginning we get to meet Elliot, she is a writer and also helps out her sister by taking care of her kids. Though she has a degree, she doesn't know what the next step of her life is going to be or where she should go. Elliot's nurturing character often puts her in positions where people might take advantage of her. Her family points out her faults, but never take the time to see if she is okay. After a messy break up that completely destroyed her, Elliot has been resilient at making sure to success, but some reason she can't get herself to leave town or do something else with her life. It is when her past love comes back to town that completely shakes her world and put her heart at risk once again.

Wade Winters has seen it all, he has traveled the world and fought in the army for the past seven years. His life has been set on surviving mode and he avoids pain whenever possible, but when he is call back home to the people he left behind things suddenly start to change for him. Not only is he back to seeing his family again, but also his past love, the girl that completely destroyed his heart all those years ago. When his father is set to live for a short time, he makes it his mission to make his father's last few days the best he could ever have. Yet facing Elliot everyday has him confused, he can no longer wait to see why she let him go and will do anything to find out the truth.

With tensions running high between them, the characters really go through a roller coaster of emotions as they find their way back together. The story is not only emotional, but it's also realistic enough to make it relatable to anyone reading it. With dual points of view, we do get to read both sides of their stories and feel what they're going through. I enjoyed seeing their different perspectives and how they deal with all sorts of situations. The story as a whole was intense yet it's easy to fall in love with the characters whose love has survived it all. Although I very much liked the characters, there were times when Wade would get on my nerves just a bit, but it was understandable due to what he has been through. Overall, the story is written in a way that it ties everything together beautifully in a poetic way, I liked the ending and would highly recommend reading it. :)

My Rating:

Staci Hart Bio:

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, even though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.

From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's sleeping, cleaning, or designing graphics.
