Sing Your Heart Out by Crystal Kaswell

Release Date: Fall 2015
Series: Sinful Serenade #1
Genres: New Adult, Romance

Good girl meets rock star.

College senior Meg is desperate for a pleasant distraction. Between classes, work, and trying to figure out the most important decision of her life--where to apply for medical school--she in running herself ragged. Worse, her sister's death is still looming over her head. Dating, parties, guys in general-- none of that stuff seems fun when she knows it's what destroyed her sister.

Miles makes for one hell of a distraction. The lead singer of Sinful Serenade, the man has the voice of an angel, the mind of a devil, and the body of a God. But how can someone who writes such sweet, poetic lyrics, be such an utterly arrogant player? No way Meg can stand being around him and not just because her body goes into overdrive when he's near.

There's no way they can resist the attraction. There's no way they can do a real relationship. He doesn't believe in love. She doesn't have any interest in it.

They make an agreement. Just sex and there's only two rules-- no secrets and no falling in love.

No problem, right?

My Review:

I very much liked the overall concept of the story, the synopsis and the cover totally pulled me in. From the very beginning we are quickly thrown into the story by meeting the two main characters, Meg, a college senior and Mile- a famous singer. I have to say that the way the characters meet set the tone for the whole story, and it sort of worked.

Meg is your typical college senior who is ready to apply and move on to medical school while also trying to maintain a social live as well. Now she is not your typical “party girl,” on the contrary she is very much aware of what to do and what not to do if she wants to get accepted to a school after university. But when she attends a party at a mansion in Hollywood, she finds out that a famous band is the one hosting the party. With the party going she heads upstairs only to open the door and finding a couple stark naked and the one grinning at her is non other than lead singer, Miles, from Sinful Serenade. After that embarrassing encounter, Meg heads out only to have another encounter with Miles later on. This time he is looking at her in a completely new way and through his flirting he gets her to agree on being friends with benefits, which will be good for each other only that in return they both need to be honest and not fall in love with each other. Soon the characters embark in an adventure where they both confide in on another and learn to rely on each other. But with all the time that they're spending together both Meg and Miles start to realize they might just be falling in love with each other.

Now while the story was fun and interesting to read, the characters weren't as developed as I would have liked them to be by the end of the story. For the most part I really liked Miles, he is sweet and his “bad boy” facade is what attracted me to him. He does have a past that he wants to move away from, but when he fails to mention it to Meg, things slowly start to change between them that puts their trust on the line. On the other hand, Meg is one of those characters that wants to please everyone else, but because she doesn't know to please her parents she is in constant doubt of herself. When she tells Miles about the events that she wants to leave behind, it brings them closer. Their attraction towards each other is instant and that's how the book started right of the bat. Then as the story progressed I found the story a bit slow at time, then everything rushed at the end. Overall if you're looking for a story that is filled with steamy scenes and sweet moments then you might want to check this book out. I liked the rock star touch to the story that made it enjoyable to read. :)
