Aligned: Volume 1

He's an arrogant complication.

I don't care if Landon Davis has sold millions of records. I don't care that his damn crooked grin makes my panties wet.

I can't want him.

I should be mourning, but I can't. I just need him gone. Then I can align the chaos floating in my head.

----

She has a f*cking boyfriend.

I've seen the picture of them together. But Alex Blakely still wants me. And who am I not to oblige when her body is begging for me?

I need one night to own her body.

I should be focused on getting my career out of the gutter. I'll take one night first. Then I'll be gone.

Aligned: Volume 2

My mind is a mess.

I can't live this way anymore. He thinks I've told him the worst, but I've
barely told him anything at all.

I can't love Landon.

He just brings more confusion. I need to leave. Then I can break through
the chaos that haunts me.

-- --

My mind has never been so clear.

I'm writing new songs faster than ever before. I'm falling for her, even as
the secret that I've kept hidden for years threatens to reveal itself.

I can't love Alex.

Everyone will know I'm a monster. I'll stay away. It's the only way.

Aligned: Volume 3

He's alive.

I don't know how, but he's standing here in the doorway. A torn piece of green silk sticking out of his pocket matching the fabric that I carry with me everywhere to remember him.

My heart has been torn in two.

I don't know who I'm supposed to love. A man that has stolen my heart or my husband who I thought was dead.

-- --

He's f*cking alive.

That can't be possible. I found someone I could finally love. Someone I want to spend the rest of my life with.

But I can't love Alex.

Not now. I have to let her go. It's the only way I can save her. I just hope I'm strong enough to save myself.

Aligned: Volume 4

I know who tried to kill me.

The same man that raped me is the same man that tried to kill me. Twice. I have some evidence, but not enough. I want revenge, but every step I take towards getting that revenge I feel myself drifting further from Landon.

I'm going to lose him.

I'm going to lose everything that I care about. All I can focus on is revenge. Maybe then I will be able to put the past behind me. Maybe then I can truly heal. I just hope I don't lose him and myself in the process.

__ __

She's pregnant.

Caroline has always held my deepest darkest secrets, but now she thinks she has another one. One that could control me. I can't be a father though.

I'm a monster.

The baby can't be mine. If it is, I already know my future. I'll lose the woman I love. The only woman I've ever wanted.

My Review:

Not having read other books by the author before, I was impressed with just how well she executed the book. There were a lot of twists and turns in the story that I did not expect and that had me reading nonstop until the very end.

In the story we get to meet Alexa Blakely, a renowned photographer whose career had to be put on pause after she ends up in a car accident. The accident was so severe that the doctors had to amputate one of her legs which changed her life forever. Now she has to use a prosthesis and attend therapy in order to get back to life. But what caused her more pain is the memory loss that she had to endure after the accident and now she has no recollection of the husband she once had. But when she moves back to her apartment in L.A. she stumbles upon Landon Davis, her neighbor who happens to be a famous musician (but she doesn’t recognize him right away). It is his friendly attitude and good looks that intrigued her, but she knows that any kind of relationship with him will not end well. Alexa is trying to move on with her life, but having everyone around her remind her of her husband is making things difficult for her. Nevertheless, Landon always finds a way to be there for her and their relationship turns friendly right away. As the two start to spend more time with each other, the more relaxed she becomes around him and the more her feelings start to grow for him. But there are things in her past that could potentially hurt their relationship and she will not stop until she figures out her past before it’s too late.

Landon Davis is a famous musician who has no trouble attracting the opposite sex, he has the money and looks to get just about anything he wants. But even with all the power that he has, he still can’t get himself out of writer’s block and if he doesn’t release a single he will find himself in trouble with his label company. When he meets Alexa Blakely outside their building, he is immediately attracted to her. She is feisty and her no nonsense attitude is what makes him want her even more. Landon knows that Alexa has been through so much pain and he wants to be there for her, but he is keeping things from her that could change the course of their relationship if he doesn’t tell her. As the two find more things in common with each other, the harder it becomes from him to not fall in deeply in love with her. Now it’ll be up to them to decide if they can have a future together after all or not.

I truly enjoyed reading Aligned, it was well written and the pace truly made the story that much more interesting. Both of the characters are flawed and have their moments throughout the series, but they also manage to evolve towards the end. The amount of twist and turns in the story had me hooked and invested in the characters. I wish the author could have elaborated on some of the scenes, but it still worked out in the end. I would highly recommend reading the series and the after story (if you sign up to the author’s emailing list)! :)
