πŸ”– BLOG TOUR πŸ”– The Bookworm's Guide to Dating by Emma Hart { R E V I E W }

The Bookworm's Guide to Dating by Emma Hart

Release Date: October 6th 2020
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

What I wanted for my birthday: Books.
What I got for my birthday: my brother’s best friend playing matchmaker.

Let it be known that I, Kinsley Lane, am one hundred percent against being set up with somebody.
And I’m one thousand percent sure that Josh Carter is not the man to find me a boyfriend.

I mean, if I’m so great, why isn’t he the one dating me? (For the record, I don’t know the answer. That’s just what the guy on the internet asked.)

Still, I’ll humor him. If I go on his little dates, he’ll teach my bookish, introverted self how not to be totally, completely, utterly, unforgivably awkward on every single one of them.

And all I have to do is fall in love with one of the lovely gentlemen he’s serving up for me on a silver platter—all of whom fit my very specific guidelines.

Simple, right?

It would be.

If only I could stop falling for Josh.

My Review:

I’m always happy to read any of Emma Hart’s books, they are quirky, hilarious and romantic. Her latest book, The Bookworm’s Guide to Dating did not disappoint at all.

In the story we get to meet Kinsley Lane, a twenty-six-year old bookstore owner who loves books so much to the point that she has very high expectations when it comes to having a relationship. This leads to her not having luck at finding the one. It’s on her birthday that her older brother’s best friend, Josh Carter offers to help her find the right guy for her. She’ll have to go on dates that he will set up and he will coach her on not to be so awkward when she is on those dates. Kinsley has always had a crush on Josh, he has always been there for her but he has never expressed feelings for her at all. But after he sets her up on dates who go horribly wrong, things start to change between them and she’ll have to decide if being with Josh is worth it or not.

Josh Carter has always liked Kinsley and all her bookish qualities. He is drawn to her like nobody else, but her brother is also his best friend, and dating her is out of the question. So he offers to help her find the right guy even if it hurts him seeing her with someone else other than him. It’s after spending time together that he realizes just how much he is willing to fight for her and hopes she gives him a chance at forever.

The Bookworm’s Guide to Dating was such a relatable read and I think a lot of us bookworms will relate to Kinsley having really high dating expectations, especially after reading so many great romances featuring really amazing male characters. I loved all the references that Hart made about other books and movies. I loved how Josh likes Kinsley for who she is and she doesn’t have to be someone when she is around him. We also get to meet Kinsley’s friends and fellow book lovers and as well as their very interesting grandparents. They were hilarious and made the story that much more interesting to read. The amount of banter between Josh and Kinsley was cute and romantic. I do wish the ending was a little different, but it still worked very well in the story. I would highly recommend checking it out as well as any other books by the author, you will not regret it! :)

My Rating:

About Emma Hart:

Emma Hart is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over thirty novels and has been translated into several different languages.

She is a mother, wife, lover of wine, Pink Goddess, and valiant rescuer of wild baby hedgehogs.

Emma prides herself on her realistic, snarky smut, with comebacks that would make a PMS-ing teenage girl proud.

Yes, really. She's that sarcastic.
