My Review:

From the sexy cover to the captivating synopsis, J.T. Geissinger has completely outdone herself in Melt For You. Having read the previous book in the series, I couldn’t wait to read the next book and it didn’t disappoint at all. The author has managed to create a charming story filled with swoon worthy moments that will leave you wanting for more.

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Joellen Bixby, a thirty-six-year-old copyeditor who has been working for Maddox Publishing for the last ten years. She has also been in love with her boss and CEO, Michael Maddox for that long. Although she is socially awkward, Joellen wants to get her boss to notice her but doesn’t know how and that frustrates her. It’s when she gets back to her apartment one day that Joellen comes to a stop when she hears very loud music coming from her neighbor’s apartment. She walks up to the apartment and comes face-to-face with a very handsome stranger who happens to have a very sexy Scottish accent. The spell immediately crashes the minute he starts to bicker with her and he tells her that he will stop with his music if she cooks for him return. They make a bargain of some sorts and when he finds out that Joellen has been wanting to get her boss’ attention he is willing to help her. It is through Michael that she finds out who her neighbor really is.

Cameron McGregor ends up being the captain of a rugby team called the Red Devils. Although he is well known, Cameron has been on the papers lately and not for good reasons. This concerns Michael and he tells Joellen to be careful and to not trust Cameron. She knows that her neighbor is bad news, but he has offered to be there for her and spending time together has definitely made Joellen see him in a new light. What I loved about the story was how entertaining it was and all the heavy banter that they have is sizzling. Although they have fantastic chemistry, Joellen is set on getting her boss’ attention and love. She has viewed herself as the ugly duckling in her family and not being in a relationship at her age makes everyone around her see her differently. She has a lot of self-esteemed issues that she needs to overcome and Cameron is there to remind her that it’s okay to be herself no matter what other people think of her. In the end she has to decide if she truly wants Michael or if giving Cameron a shot is worth it or not.

As I mentioned before, I truly loved reading this story it was sweet and charming. Cameron is swoon worthy and just the perfect guy that anyone would want to have. He loves bickering with Joellen and causing trouble, which made things that much more fun to read. There is a big issue of self-esteem that the author handled very well and this empowered Joellen to be who she wanted to be in the end. We also be to find out more about Cameron and what brought him to New York. It’s evident from the very start that both of the characters have issues to overcome and it all ends up tying really well in the end. There are a bit of twists and turns as well, but I wish the author could have added more details towards the end. There were a few issues that felt unresolved to me that could have made the book that much better. I would highly recommend reading this book, it was lovable and swoon worthy, a definite must-read for sure. :)

Series: Slow Burn #1
Pages: 348
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

The marriage is fake. But for a sassy chef and an arrogant billionaire, the sparks are real…

Jackson “The Beast” Boudreaux is rich, gorgeous, and unbelievably rude to the staff at Chef Bianca Hardwick’s New Orleans restaurant. The heir to a family bourbon dynasty, Jackson knows the rumors swirling around him. The truth is even darker. Still, he needs a wife to secure his inheritance, and free-spirited, sassy Bianca would play the part beautifully. Soon, though, their simple business deal evolves into an emotional intimacy he’s built walls to avoid.

My Review:

From the cover to the intriguing synopsis, Burn for You had me hooked from the very start. Not having read any other books by the author before, I was really impressed with her execution of the story and how well developed the characters are. It’s evident that both of them have issues of their own, but together the chemistry is truly explosive.

At the beginning of the story we get to meet Bianca Hardwick, a New Orleans chef whose popular dishes has slowly made her successful around the city. It has taken her hard work to get to where she is and she is not about to let anyone get in her way, especially Jackson Boudreaux. He might be powerful and rich, but she is not about to let him walk into her restaurant and start ordering people around. But when he does indeed come to her restaurant demanding to see her, she doesn’t have a clue that her life is about to change forever.

Jackson “The Beast” Boudreaux may have it all, the money and the looks to get just about anything he wants. His family may be well-known, but moving to New Orleans has prove to be an adventure of its own. As the heir to the family bourbon dynasty, he has been raised to lead, but he wants something else for himself. When his chef suddenly quits, he is in need of someone to help him with his benefit dinner that he is throwing for the Wounded Warrior Project. It’s an excellent excuse to see the sassy chef that has been haunting his thoughts. When she helps him with his project, it becomes evident that he is attracted to her in more ways than one and he is not about to stop at nothing to make her his.

I had such a good time reading this book, it was sweet and funny. It was truly hard to put down, especially with the amount of chemistry that we get. Bianca is such a hard worker, but when she needs money to cover her mother’s medical costs Jackson makes her a proposition that she can’t deny. Marriage. For Jackson, his proposition would not only help Bianca, but it would get her closer to him. When they start to spend time together, the harder it gets for either of them to deny their feelings for each other. I liked Jackson’s personality the most, he is tough around the edges and charming on the inside. He cares for Bianca and it showed. The ending was hilarious and I loved how the author included recipes throughout the story. Overall, I highly recommend reading this book! It will not disappoint at all. :)

{J.T. Geissinger Interview}

Tell us about Wicked Beautiful.

My editor called it a “revenge rom-com” and I think that’s a perfect description. It’s a story of a woman, Victoria Price, who decides to get revenge on an old flame who royally screwed her over years ago. What ensues is a very hot, twist-filled, and funny cat-and-mouse game between two smart, stubborn and sexy people. It’s set in Manhattan, one of my favorite cities in the world.

You're known for your intense, dark romances. What made you decide to write a romantic comedy?

I'd just completed Make Me Sin, the second book in my rockstar romance Bad Habit series; it's the most emotionally devastating book I'd ever written, and I was wrung out. I wanted to write a lighter, stand-alone romance. Wicked Beautiful is my tenth novel, and was the most fun I've ever had writing a book. I can't wait for readers to meet Victoria and Parker, and watch the sparks fly.

Tell us about Victoria, the heroine.

Victoria is a powerhouse, fierce and unapologetic, yet with a tender underbelly she ruthlessly protects. She's a survivor, an underprivileged ugly duckling who by sheer force of will transformed herself into a very successful swan. She's funny, smart, and self-confident, so watching her grapple with the opposing desires of revenge and lust for Parker Maxwell, our hero, is fantastic. Their interactions are explosive.

Speaking of Parker, what can we expect from him?

He's Victoria's match in every way: driven, successful, and used to being in control and getting whatever he wants. He loves a good battle of wits as much as Victoria does, but soon realizes their intense game might cost him more than just his heart. He's a gambler, though, and definitely up for the challenge. It was such a pleasure to write about this sexy heartbreaker, and the femme fatale who brings him to his knees.
