✯BOOK TOUR✯ Hitched: Volume One by Kendall Ryan {REVIEW + EXCERPT}

Hitched: Volume One by Kendall Ryan

Release Date: July 5th 2016 by Everafter Romance
Series: Imperfect Love #1
Pages: 220
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Marry the girl I’ve had a crush on my whole life? Check.

Inherit a hundred-billion-dollar company? Check.

Produce an heir… Wait, what?

I have ninety days to knock up my brand-new fake wife. There’s only one problem—she hates my guts.

And in the fine print of the contract? The requirement that we produce an heir.

She can’t stand to be in the same room with me. Says she’ll never be in my bed.

But I’ve never backed down from a challenge and I’m not about to start now.

Mark my words—I’ll have her begging for me, and it won’t take ninety days.

On the heels of her smash hit and New York Times bestselling SCREWED series, Kendall Ryan brings you HITCHED, a romantic comedy that delivers heart and heat. A NYC playboy turned business mogul has ninety days to win over the woman he's always desired in order to save his father's company. One tiny problem: She hates his guts.

My Review:

Hitched will leave you wanting for more, Kendall Ryan has done it again with this new trilogy and I cannot wait to read the rest.

From the synopsis to the eye-catching cover, I could not stop reading the book. At the beginning of the story we get to meet Noah, a womanizer who has it all including money. But now that his father's company is at stake, Noah must marry the daughter of his dad's company co-founder in order to peace the rest of the board members. But first he needs to find a way to get Olivia to sign the contract, and that is going to be a lot harder than he thought.

Olivia loves her job and working for her father, but due to the recent events the company now wants her to marry off in order to restore the company back to the way it was, or at least improve it now. But marrying Noah was not in her plan, and now he has to win her over if he wants her to sign the contract. Yet, as the two start to spend more time together they both start to come to terms with what they have to do, but soon things start to change and it will be up to them to decide if marrying each other is the right thing to do.

I loved reading Hitched, it was full of chemistry and funny moments that had me hooked from the very beginning. Olivia's relationship with Noah is quite the ride to read, it has its ups and downs, but at the end of the day the chemistry between them is greater than anything else. Noah is your typical bad boy, with a twist. He has had a crushed on Olivia for a while now, and he can't deny that marrying her would make things a lot better for him. Needless to say, he does take the time to get to know her better and try to make things easier for her. He truly is a character to swoon over. On the other hand, Olivia is a strong character who doesn't take crap from anyone else. She is determined, and like any other women out there, she is not immune to Noah's charms. But she has fun making him work, and that is what ultimately gets her to see the real Noah. Overall, the story line was entertaining and charming to read. The characters have distinct personalities that will definitely keep you reading and wanting for more, I would highly recommend it. :)

"That’s the whole point of doing this trial period—to see how well we can play ball together before committing to a team-up. I’m doing my best to become friends with you, so . . .”

He tilts his head with a half smile. “Just friends? I’ve got my sights set a little higher.”

Gee, I never would have guessed, what with his constant attempts to steer the conversation toward sex.

I quirk one eyebrow in skepticism. “Friendship is all we need to pull this thing off. And we’re pretty much starting from square one . . . I would call us acquaintances, at best. Don’t you think you’re being a little overambitious?”

“Nope,” he replies, cocky smile still firmly in place.

I roll my eyes. “Wow. Your arrogance truly has no limits.”

“If I can put my money where my mouth is . . .” His lustful smirk makes it clear exactly where he’d like to put his mouth. “Then it’s not arrogance. Just confidence.”

“What makes you think I would want more with you, anyway? You aren’t exactly my type.”

I expect him to just give me a knowing look, or maybe toss back some mild innuendo. What I absolutely did not expect was, “Because I have a nine-inch cock.”

I almost choke on my martini for a third time. I splutter, “Is that number supposed to impress me?”

3"

I give him a skeptical look. “You want to show me your dick?”

“If it’ll help convince you.” He drains the last drops of his Scotch and stands up. “Come on, let’s go.”

I stare after him as he walks away.

Is he serious? He’s just going to whip it out? I look around to see if anyone is watching me, then I get up and follow him to the bar’s back hallway, near the restrooms, unable to comprehend why the hell I’m humoring him. This is ridiculous.

Once we’re safely in a private corner, Noah undoes his belt, opens his fly . . . and pulls out a fucking fire hose.

Holy mother of God. My hands fly to my mouth. I want to gasp in shock, but there’s no way I’m giving him the upper hand.

He was right. His cock is nothing short of massive, and it’s not even fully erect right now. Nine inches may actually be a conservative estimate of what it might look like hard. He must destroy men’s egos every time he walks into a locker room. And I don’t even want to think about what he destroys with women . . .

“Meh. I’ve seen bigger,” I force out, fighting to maintain my composure.

Noah chuckles. “I don’t think so, sweetheart.”

“Well, th-that monster is not coming anywhere near my uterus. No, thank you. I prefer to keep my organs intact.”

Noah’s grin widens. “I doubt that, but just to be on the safe side, I’ll ease it in nice and slow. Piece of cake. Plus, you’ve got good health insurance, right?”

“That is not funny, Noah. Now, put that thing away or I’ll remove it.”

I try to sound stern, but my shaking voice and bright red cheeks surely give me away. Why the hell can’t I stop staring?

He chuckles—yeah, the jerk can definitely see right through me—but he obliges, tucking the beast back into its lair.

“Hey.” She smiled seeing Jason as she walked into the liv- ing room.

“Hey.” He smiled back. Sam’s hair was down, partially hiding her face.

They met in the middle of the room. “Happy Birthday,” he said.

“Thanks.” She reached out to hug him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he wrapped his around her waist. Usu- ally, the annual hug she got for her birthday only lasted about five seconds, but this time Jason couldn’t seem to let go of Sam and Sam didn’t want him to. She thought about that night a year ago when John had accused her of liking Jason. Maybe he was right.

Jason’s eyes were closed, but he could smell the sweet scent of Sam’s hair mingled with the scent of her perfume. He imagined himself kissing her, holding her in his arms for real.

They pulled away from each other, but not a lot. Her arms were still wrapped around his neck and his were still around her waist. Their faces were only about an inch apart.
“Hi.” Sam whispered.

“Hi.” Jason breathed back.

If, what they both were thinking was going to happen, happened, it would be Sam’s first kiss. Jason’s too.

The moment seemed to last an eternity. They leaned in closer, their lips just barely touching, brushing against each other, then . . .

“Sam!”

They jumped apart like two magnets repelling each other. John eyed them a little suspiciously. “Come on, it’s time to sing Happy Birthday.” He nodded his head in the direction of the kitchen. His perfect hair swung into his eyes.

Sam looked at Jason one last time, a hint of longing in her eyes and walked away.

Jason stayed where he was. His shoulders sagged. It had almost happened, and he didn’t know when he’d get another chance.

“Jason, ya’ coming?” Someone who might have been Shawn called from the kitchen.

“Yeah.” He said. He walked into the kitchen and the chorus of “Happy Birthday” started.

Slowly fading into the shadows I step lightly away and down the street making my way to the white sports car with the dimly glowing dashboard lights within. I cross over to the passenger side door and knock quietly on the glass.

The door clicks unlocked. I hesitate before opening the door and getting down into the car. I stare at Reese’s tender eyes as I pull the door closed. The dome light turns off. His eyes continue sparkling with the reds and greens of the dashboard.

“I waited,” he says.

We stare at each other a long time. Eventually, I reach out and take his powerful hand and hold it. “What do you want?” I say. “A cookie?”

Reese grins. An electric tingle shoots through my belly. The car pulls away from the curb and begins moving quickly. The engine is so silent I didn’t even know it was on.

I keep his hand, gripping it tightly as I let both our hands rest on my left thigh. We don’t say another word while he drives quickly through the abandoned residential streets of the Brooklyn night.

The excitement of us fills up the small, contained space inside his expensive, low to the ground sports car. My defenses are down. I bathe in the drowning magic of our undeniable connection. I accept all the manipulation, the inconvenience, the likelihood of being used.

Right now it feels right. I am tired of thinking. I needed to get out of my mind and inside the moment. My eyelids drop. All is black. The only things I feel are his warm fingers laced with mine.

It’s three a.m. and we race alone across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan. I lift my hand to touch his beautiful face. When he exhales his lips form a relaxed smile. The air we breathe becomes rich with the buzzing need of our beating hearts.

A bead of water drops from his thick hair and falls to his shoulder. Then another. Tiny wet patches appear on his shirt each time one makes impact. The way he watches me, his gaze writes a poem on my skin. “Tell me you don’t want me,” he says. “Say you’re not interested, and nothing will happen.”

I want to curl into a ball. Instead I stand.

“Sunny,” he whispers, and it’s hard to know if he intends my name as a question or an answer. Funny, the way it sounds like both.

My lids flutter as he closes the distance. He’s tall enough that when he bends, his face buries into the top of my head. He inhales as if I’m a secret flower. I wish I only ever bloomed for him. A stupid notion. This moment would be perfect if it weren’t us. If we were other people.

I move to hook my fingers into his belt loops but aim too high and brush his stomach instead. His abdominal muscles flex, and there’s my cue to explore. I can’t help but inch under the cotton, trace the thick muscles that make up his defined V-line. My nails gently cut to the top of his jeans. His groan vibrates into my skull.

He’s slipping, less careful with every ragged breath. His skin heats under my fingertips. There’s no choice. There’s never been with him.

Lia Riley writes offbeat New Adult Romance. After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, she scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. When not torturing heroes (because c'mon, who doesn't love a good tortured hero?), Lia herds unruly chickens, camps, beach combs, daydreams about as-of-yet unwritten books, wades through a mile-high TBR pile and schemes yet another trip. "I wouldn't hurt you."
"Isn’t that what the praying mantis says just before biting off the head of its mate?" Despite her question, she relaxed again.
The corner of his lips tipped up in a sardonic smile as he resumed his extrication. "Consider it foreplay."
She stiffened again. “On second thought, I’ll just get myself free.”
"You’re stuck. I’m just trying to release you so you can get out of my flat.” He softened his voice. “Maybe, since I’m pretty sure you can clock my heart rate, you tell me your real name?”
“I—” She sighed. “It’s Imani.”
“See, how bad was that? I’m Alexander.” She licked her lips, and his gaze narrowed on her mouth. “Fuck, you’re really going to have to stop doing that."
She shifted on her feet. "I’m nervous. It’s not like I'm doing it on purpose."
Xander shook his head and peered around her at the hook. There was no way to get her off the damn thing without pressing into her. “Doesn’t matter,” he muttered.
He sucked in a deep breath and with it the scent of her. He could feel his pulse beating a tattoo under his skin. The closer he stood to her, the choppier his breathing became. Want. He needed to unhook her and get the hell away from her. His cock, however, disagreed. Vehemently. Need. He reached around her and tried to gently pry the fabric off the hook and hearing a stitch tear, he stopped. The only way to get her off was to lift her. Her body pressed flush up against his. On no planet was that a good idea.
Xander clenched his jaw hard as he wrapped his arms around her and lifted her smoothly off her feet. Her body molded against his like a spray on tan. Want. Need. He managed to unhook her and set her feet back on the ground, but not before sliding her all the way down his body. Every curve of hers pressed against him and he wanted to do a lot more to her tits than just fuck them. Like lick, suckle, and tease until her eyes rolled back into her head with pleasure. He needed to step away from her. The last thing he needed was a complication. But every command his brain gave went unheeded.
"You're a little close, aren’t you?" Her voice was soft.
Another soft chuckle escaped his lips. "I'm not sure you understand how this is supposed to go."
She swallowed hard. "Oh, I understand the mechanics, but…” She paused, not sure how to put it. "You said that you didn't want to…uh…talk."
He reached out and smoothed a lock of hair between his fingers. "I think I changed my mind. I do want to talk. But there's something about you that makes me want to touch too."
"You should realize that touching a woman's hair is a really personal thing."
"So is standing in a man's flat, wearing a dress made for sin, fuck-me heels and a smile."

David is cool and collected, and he makes Emma feel safe for the first time ever. But David has his own chilling past—his six previous girlfriends have all disappeared without a trace. Emma's walking a dangerous line, but David's pull is intoxicating. And impossible to resist…

This is a new adult romance with mature content for readers 17 and up.
(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)

Purchase: Amazon, B&N, iTunes, Kobo

My Review:

Push is a book full of twists and turns so prepare yourself for the roller coaster ride...

When I first read the synopsis of the book, I was intrigued to find out more about Emma's past, and how David was going to play a role in her life. Not having read any books by Claire Wallis before, I didn't know what to expect of Push at all, needless to say, I was surprised at how everything unfolded in the book.

The story starts off with a very interesting, and intriguing prologue. I was hooked from the very beginning, and so I kept reading on, and that's when things really started to get scary to say the least. Emma Searfoss has spent the majority of her life running away from an abusive father, and her two older brothers. Ever since her mother died she had to practically take care of herself, and freedom didn't do so well for her. She rebelled, and with an outspoken personality she got in trouble a lot. Now after completing a college degree, and getting a new job she is ready to finally settle down. But when her neighbor knocks on her door to fix her kitchen, things immediately start to change for her yet again.
After suffering from a terrible past, David has finally been able to move away from his old life, and into a new one by working as a maintenance man in his building. When he sees his new neighbor moving in just below his apartment, he decides to go introduce himself to her, and fix her kitchen. He knows that he should stay away from her, but he can't deny the attraction that he has for her, and the more they are together, the harder it is for him to stop thinking about her. Everyone has a past, and his is about to come hunt him down.

First, I have to give it to the author that I've never read anything remotely close to Push before. The plot line was original as it takes the reader from present to past back-to-back, there were also extra chapters that really helped understand David that it was nice to read the story in different point-of-views. I got to understand both David and Emma's pasts, yet aside from all of that, I did not quite understand the decisions that they made throughout the book. Their personalities were the same, yet different at the same time. Emma does have a bit of a rage problem, after all, her mother pretty much left her alone without anyone to take properly care of her. Her older brothers turned their backs on her by picking their stepfather over her. On the other hand, David is a mess, I don't even know how to begin to describe him. He is a very complex character that reminded me of the quote, “Don't judge a book by its cover.” From the outside he is caring, and nice to Emma, but underneath all of that is a very messed up guy that scared me in some of the chapters. His previous six girlfriends have all gone missing without a trace, and although they all seemed to have reasons for their disappearance, David has been with all of them before they disappeared. When he moves away to a new town, he can't help to feel the pull that he has towards Emma. She understands his pain, and the need to want to start over. That's probably way she feels the same pull towards him as well. They may fit well with each other, but what David does for Emma might end up hurting their relationship in the end.

Now what I didn't really liked about the book was how the romance was handled, I felt that it was overshadowed by the mystery, and it sort of became a “psychological thriller” rather than your typical new adult romance novel. Although I liked the overall concept of the story, it could have been executed a little bit better. The ending though, that completely shocked me! It left me speechless... :O Overall, the story can be a bit of a hit or miss for some, I personally will not be reading the second book, but you might like it so I would just give it a try. :)

She lowered herself, gave a little shove, and slid down. I stopped her descent at the bottom, her back pressed into the metal. I grasped the sides, holding myself up, my nose an inch from hers as I hovered in her space. Her eyes were doing that wild thing again, a raging sea that churned with all that shyness, but flamed with bold strikes of courage, a storm that didn’t know which way to turn.
“Anyone ever kiss you before, Samantha?” I murmured low, letting my nose do a little exploring along her jaw.
She shook her head no.
“Didn’t think so,” I whispered, before I took a chance I was pretty damned sure was worth taking, and brushed my mouth against hers. And was I ever right. She tasted like sugar and all things sweet, like a spoonful of pure honey. A remedy.

Her kiss was every kind of timid, cautious in her inexperience, but it didn’t take a whole lot to convince me that this kind of kiss was my favorite.
