My Review:

Coming from a long line of “witch women,” Mala LaCroix has one thing in mind and that is to blend in with everyone around her. She has always been judged for who her mother is and she is determined to be as normal as anyone else. But soon things start to change around her the minute she discovers a girl's death body floating in her family's territory. Not only is she being haunted by the dead girl, but she is also finding herself being pulled by a force that she cannot control. The visions are only the beginning of her journey where she will discover secrets that are being kept in her town and the powers that have haunted her family for generations.

Landry Prince has always been caught in the middle between her family's beliefs and of the girl he has always had a crush on, Mala. When he finds out that his sister has been missing, and that his sister has mysteriously appeared in the LaCroix's territory, he can't help but wonder if Mala and her mother have anything to do with his sister's death. Yet after having an spiritual connection with Mala, have only added to him wondering what could his dead sister want from Mala so bad that she keeps giving her visions of her death. Now he has to find his sister's killer, deal with his family, and possibly try to get the girl that he loves. 

I found myself liking the book a lot, the cover is what caught my attention at first, and the synopsis had me wanting to know more about the story. From the very beginning, I thought that the book had potential, the characters are well thought out, and the mystery throughout the story had me reading for hours. I enjoyed reading about the LaCroix family, it's been a while since I've read anything related to witches, and ghosts, that I thought that Angie Sandro did a good job executing the story. It was easy to picture the setting in the book, the way it is written really adds to the mystery. With that said, there were just a couple of things that could have been executed differently. The relationship between the main characters could have been developed a bit more, the story almost became a mystery novel without the romantic chemistry in the characters. Mala's personality evolves throughout the story that it changes her decisions constantly. She desperately wants to get rid of the visions that she has of Landry's sister, yet she is determined to find out what really happened to her no matter what. The ending was so unexpected, the big twist in the story really got me. Overall, I enjoyed reading Dark Paradise, if you enjoy reading paranormal mystery books this is definitely the book for you. (:
