πŸ”– REVIEW πŸ”– The Overtime Kiss by Lauren Blakely

The Overtime Kiss by Lauren Blakely

Release Date: June 18, 2025
Pages: 530
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Sports

Just what every bride dreams of—running straight from her cheating fiancΓ© into the arms of a hot hockey star… and then getting hired as his kids’ nanny.

Tyler Falcon is protective, flirtatious…and frustratingly responsible. We almost did something reckless when he found me alone in my wedding dress, and I blurted out all the things I’d never truly experienced.

Now, the sexy single dad is saving me again with a job I desperately need—and a promise to never mention The Night of 1001 Confessions.

I live in his house. Take care of his kids. Pretend I don’t notice his heated gaze lingering on me after they fall asleep.

Until one night, the tension snaps.

Now we have a deal. Five lessons in seduction. No strings attached.

But he’s not just good in bed. He spoils me with thoughtful gifts and supports my dreams. For the first time, I feel like I belong.

Except…this was never meant to last. I’m his employee. He has kids to protect. And neither of us can afford to make a mistake.

The more nights we spend tangled up together though, the harder it is to pretend it’s just physical. Because I’m not only falling for my boss—I’m falling for the man whose kids have stolen my heart.

Tropes: single dad/nanny, runaway bride, forced proximity, spicy lessons, she's his daughter's skating coach, confession of all secrets, love notes, found family

My Review:

Things are heating up in Blakely’s latest release, The Overtime Kiss. This sports romance between a hockey star and a runaway bride will leave you swooning and rooting for the characters until the very end.

Sabrina Snow never expected to find out that her soon-to-be husband was cheating on her, prompting her to make the quick decision to run away from her own wedding. But what destroyed Sabrina the most was to see the disappointment look on her parents’ faces. Blaming her for making things up, all to get out of the wedding. It doesn’t take long before she ends up at a bar, without realizing that Tyler Falcon was going to be there as well.

As a professional ice skater, Sabrina worked really hard to make it to the olympics, only to find out that she didn’t. While working for her family, she starts coaching ice skating on the side. Tyler happens to be one of her ice skating student’s dad and he has always been kind to her. Yet, all bets are off when they start to drink and she blurts out everything she wants to experience with him.

Nothing happens that night, and hopes that they can forget about what happened the night before. Only to get hired by his mom to take care of his kids that things start to get difficult. It’s clear that they both have an undeniable connection, but she is his employee and Sabrina is afraid that what they have is not going to last.

I really enjoyed reading The Overtime Kiss, the characters are relatable and the story is well-thought out. Between the chemistry between, we get to see them grow closer the more time they spend together. Tyler quickly becomes overprotective over her, he wants to make her happy no matter what. They are able to lean on each other when things get tough and Sabrina slowly starts to see that she has been given a second chance to start a new life with him. But they don’t get their happily-ever-after until they can overcome one last obstacle in her life and they can start their future together. All in all, I would highly recommend checking out this book and any others by the author, you will not regret it! :)

{EXCERPT}

Tyler

“Are you a troublemaker, Tyler?”

“Maybe I was. Back in the day,” I say.

Her lips shift in amusement. “Think you’ve still got it in you?”

“Those are fighting words.” I drum my fingers on the counter. “How about trouble in the form of a spicy margarita? Can you handle the heat?”

Her smile falters for just a second, as if I’d asked about more than a drink. “I don’t even know.”

Her blue eyes flicker with something deeper—with uncertainty, maybe, or a vulnerability she’s trying to hide. Or possibly…interest. Since for a moment her gaze lingers on me, roams over me, like she’s trying to figure something out.

Like what she wants me to do to her tonight?

What the f*&k?

That is not a thought I should be entertaining. Too bad my lust-struck mind is already running away with the image, imagining what could have been if she wasn’t wearing that damn ring. Not today, brain. Stand down.

“Let’s find out,” I say, as I resume the role of runaway-bride wingman. I change her order, and when the bartender returns with the margarita, we toast again, her with her cocktail, me with my lager, which—as Ike promised—is incredibly good.

“To the opposite of today.”

“The opposite,” she echoes, her gaze…curious. But I don’t want to read into it even though I want to read everything into it.

Start your journey in The Irishmen duet by New York Times Bestselling author Melanie Moreland

My Review:

Moreland’s latest release is full of sizzling chemistry and suspense. As the first book in The Irishmen duet, Finn, will leave you rooting for the characters until the very end!

For someone as wealthy as Finn O’Reilly, he never thought that he would get into the hotel business until he met Una Murphy. Her enthusiasm for the hospitality business and wanting to be part of it has Finn immediately wanting to let her run one of his businesses. While he owns a lot of legal businesses, Finn is also in charge of his underworld dealings with other territories.

Though his life might be full of danger, it helps that he has no weaknesses that could be used against him. Except, there is someone that over the years has stolen his heart and that is Una. Yet, she has made it clear that his world is not for her even though they both know that what they have is real. No matter how much distance Una places between them, Finn will always be there for her. So, when he finds out that she might be in danger, he will make sure to save her at all costs. Vowing to make her his once and for all.

Una Murphy never envisioned not having her parents around to rely on, leaving her and brother to stand by each other. While her brother follows on their dad’s footsteps within the syndicate, Una wants nothing to do with it. She has witnessed what it could do to loved ones and she has done everything in her power to stay away from Finn. Yet, he still loves her and wants them to go be together. Finn O’Reilly is everything she has wanted in a man, but there are dangers lurking behind the underworld and Una is not sure if they’ll ever be safe.

I throughly enjoyed reading Finn, the characters had undeniable chemistry from the very beginning. Finn has become overly protective of her the minute they met and it stays that way for years. Even though he wants to respect her decision of not being together, he will always be there for her. He knows that Una only has her brother, but when her brother slowly starts to change, it becomes evident that Finn has to step in. All in all, I loved the suspense in this first book and the ending makes me want to read Neill’s book right away! I would highly recommend checking out this book and any others by the author. :)

πŸ”– REVIEW BLITZ πŸ”– Just One More Affair by Carly Phillips

Just One More Affair by Carly Phillips

Release Date: May 12, 2025
Pages: 184
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Oops, she did it again…

A one-night stand with a billionaire.
A surprise pregnancy.
Can she trust his love?
Or is it the baby tying them together?

Charlotte Kendall never expected history to repeat itself after a one-night stand at a wedding. Especially since a past encounter left her co-parenting twin daughters she adores. Except this time, her baby daddy is a man she can’t resist.

Billionaire Jared Sterling always gets what he wants—and he wants Charlotte Kendall. When he learns she’s pregnant, he’s all in. But Charlotte’s past has taught this independent, single mom to guard her heart. She doubts Jared’s motives and believes he’s only invested for the baby.

Their chemistry is undeniable and Jared will do anything to convince Charlotte she’s his endgame. But her life is complicated and when her brother’s recklessness puts Charlotte in danger, Jared takes over, proving he’s offering the love and stability she has always craved.

Now Charlotte must decide—will she keep running from the man who’s offering her everything, or take a chance on love?

My Review:

As the fifth book in The Sterling Family, Phillips delivers a steamy second chance romance between a business mogul and an archeologists in Just One More Affair. Can a second one-night stand end up turning into a forever?

After having a one-night stand that gave her twin daughters, Charlotte Kendall never expected to be invited to her old one-night stand’s wedding. But that’s one of things that she loves about her relationship with Noah Powers, that they can be good co-parents and friends. While Charlotte was pursuing her archeological dreams in Egypt, she is grateful to have Noah to help her take care of the girls. While trying to enjoy the last day with her daughters, Charlotte spots Jared Sterling, the handsome Sterling brother that has been extra charming since the minute they met.

It’s evident that they have a connection, one that they would later on explore. Only time around, she would go back to Egypt only to find out that is is pregnant again and the father is thousand of miles away. It is then that Charlotte makes the decision to come back home to take care of her daughters and tell Jared that he is going to be a dad. She was definitely not expecting for Jared to be like Noah, he is set on to win her over no matter what. Yet, she fears that he is only worried for their baby and not really her. Yet, it would take a twist in events to prove to them that they might just be it for each other.

I absolutely loved reading Just One More Affair, after reading Just One More Temptation, I was happy to find out that Charlotte was going to get her own story. It’s been years since Charlotte had to be a single mom, she has been relying on herself even longer and that’s what has made her guard her heart. It’s hard to rely on other people, but Jared is different and the fact that he wants her to feel like she belongs in his life it’s difficult. Jared Sterling never expected to settle down anytime soon, not after working day-and-night at Sterling Investments. But seeing Charlotte again has him rethinking his own future, especially after he finds out that he is going to be a dad. Neither of them expected to develop strong feelings for each other and he vows to prove that he will never walk from them. I loved the interactions that we get from the rest of the family, Charlotte’s daughters quickly embrace Jared and it was sweet to see. The ending was perfect for them and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! :)
