When a Valentine's Day contest for Arizona's Cutest Couple throws two romance-challenged people together, can they survive a fake engagement?
All Penny Merrill wants to do is run her own sweet shop in beautiful and ritzy Scottsdale, Arizona, but her money-hungry mother and conniving stepfather are making it nearly impossible to keep her dream alive. When Penny finds an advertisement for a Valentine's Day contest for Arizona's Cutest Couple, with the winnings being enough to enable her to hold on to her floundering business, she comes up with an idea that just might work--if she can find the right man for the job.
Commercial contractor Preston Ames is starting to develop feelings for Penny, and even though he's been through enough heartache to know that he should avoid her at all costs, he can't keep himself from visiting her sweet shop everyday. When Penny asks him to participate in a crazy scheme so that she can overturn her stepfather's underhanded business ploy, Preston is tempted to run the other way. But one look into her soulful blue eyes and he's a goner. Little does he know that just one picture will turn Penny into his sweet Valentine.
But when the fact that Preston is a billionaire comes to light, and Penny and Preston compete against another couple whose heartache transcends all of their misconceptions about love, will they do the right thing? And in the process, discover a bond that is greater than they thought was even possible?

My Review:
Not having read any other book by the author before, I was intrigued by synopsis and the sweet cover. Walker not only managed to deliver a great story about new beginnings, but also a managed to deliver the perfect romantic story just in time for Valentine’s Day.
At the beginning of the story we get to meet Penny Merrill, an Arizona native whose love for baked goods has made it possible for her to own her own sweet shop. What she thought it was going be good for her now has caused her many troubles. Her little shop is hanging on the balance and she needs money fast. When Penny finds an advertisement for a Valentine’s Day contest for Arizona’s Cutest Couple, she is all over the price. It would help her make ends meet while keeping her shop open for business. Yet, she is single and without anyone to enter the contest with. But when her one of her regular customers enters her shop, she knows that he is the right man for the job, now she has to convince him to help her win the contest.
Preston Ames loves going to Penny’s sweet shop and not just for the sweets. He has had a crush on her ever since he discovered her store and they’ve been close ever since. As a commercial contractor Preston has a busy live, but he still makes time to visit Penny whenever he can. It is when she asks him to help her win the contest that everything starts to change between them. They’re spending more time together and he is starting to like being close to her. Yet there are things that could potentially hurt their relationship, and he is not about to let anything come between their relationship.
I’m very impressed with this story, it was sweet and entertaining. Penny is such a hard worker and a good daughter that she’ll do anything to help out her family. This leads her to a couple of obstacles that she has to go through in the story, but in the end she ends up stronger than ever. On the other hand, Preston is kind and protective. He wants to make Penny happy and although he offers to give her the money that she needs, he knows that it means a lot to her to win and he is willing to help her no matter what. All in all, The Billionaire’s Sweet Valentine is the perfect story if you’re looking for a little romance this Valentine’s Day. The ending was sweet and it tied everything together really well, I highly recommend reading this book. You will not regret it! :)
