Hi! My name is Jackie, I'm a college student that loves writing, reading, and art. Since I've always been interested in books, I thought it would be a nice idea to blog/review books that I love and that others might enjoy as well. I hope I can help others find interesting books to read. :)
I'm a feisty redheaded Canadian/American who fell in love with romance novels when my friend Phil bought me a Kindle that hasn't left my side since.
My favorite books to read are anything taboo and super sick and twisted. I'm not sure I will ever write anything dark, but I would love to give it a shot oneday.
I live in South Florida with my high school sweetheart and three kids.
I grew up in Burlington, ON, Canada but made the move to South Florida in 2013 and definitely don't miss the snow.
I'm not sure where this writing journey will take me but either way, I know it will be a fun new adventure, and I'm super excited about it.
Melanie Moreland has become one of my favorite go-to authors for all things romance, she knows how to deliver a great story filled with substance and swoon worthy moments. Needless to say, Reid did not disappoint at all. Ever since finding out that he was getting his own story, I couldn’t wait to read the book and it’s by far my favorite book in the entire series.
At the beginning we are introduced to Reid Mathews, after being abandoned by his mother when he was just baby, he grew up in the foster care system without ever knowing what it was like to have a family to call his own. There was no one to really look out for him and as he grew older he discovered that he was good with computers and one wrong decision had sentenced to jail at such a young age. Without knowing anything else he taught himself as much as he could while he was in prison and that’s what helps him out when he get out. Reid is able to find himself a job in the IT department of non other than BAM. It is then that his future changes forever. Not only is he devoted to his friends/bosses, but he has proven to be a brilliant tech wiz at the company. That is when he meets Rebecca Holden, that his life takes an unexpected turn of events.
As the new marketing manager working at BAM, Rebecca Holden is an important member of the group. As a liaison for The Gavin Group she is only supposed to be at BAM temporarily, but one look at Reid has her changing her mind about leaving soon. She is a strong woman who knows what she wants and that attracts her to Reid. He is completely taken by her the minute they meet and he wants to make her his. But there are things in his past that could threaten his future and he is in constant struggle to move on for good. He worries that he is not good enough for Becca and the longer he takes to move on the more he is risking a future with her.
I absolutely loved reading this story, it was filled with humor and romance. There is a twist to the story that I found interesting from the start and had me reading non stop until the very end. The interaction that Reid had with previous characters in the series completely tied the story very well. Although this book can be read as a standalone, it would be best enjoyed to read the previous characters in order to get a better background story. There wasn’t a huge conflict in the story to be solved other than Reid’s self doubt and how he finally moves on from his past. The ending was EVERYTHING! It’s definitely a must read! I would highly recommend reading this story and any others by the author, you will not regret it. :)

My Rating:
{EXCERPT}
We spent the entire day together. I worked on the system, with Becca acting as my assistant. More than once, she rose up on her toes for a kiss. More than once, I had her pressed to the wall, devouring her mouth. It was the best install I had ever done.
“You are such a good kisser,” she murmured against my mouth. “How can a virgin be so good at kissing?”
Pleased she was enjoying my caresses, I grinned. “I have kissed girls and women, but, as I said, I haven’t gone beyond that.” I cupped her face, dragging my lips across her cheek to her sensitive earlobe. “I was waiting for the right person.”
“And I’m that person?”
“Yes,” I stated with conviction, dropping another kiss to her mouth. “You are.” I ran my fingers over my lips, then grabbed my drill.
“Why do you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You press your fingers on your mouth every time we kiss.”
“Oh, ah…” I stalled, looking over her shoulder. I felt heat prickle my neck.
“Tell me,” she insisted. “I want to know.”
“I like how it feels when you kiss me. I guess I’m sort of sealing you into me. Keeping your taste locked into my mouth.”
She stared at me, blinking and silent.
“Is that weird? It’s weird. I’m sorry.”
I wasn’t prepared when she launched herself at me. The drill flew one way; we hit the wall behind me, a mass of entangled arms and legs, her mouth on mine, hard and passionate. I slid down the wall to the floor, taking her with me. She was ferocious in her intensity, her kisses deep and possessive.
“You say the most erotic words,” she groaned. “Sealing my taste into you?”
“So, not weird?” I moaned as she kissed her way down my neck.
“No, not weird.” She hovered over me, her dark hair falling like a waterfall around us. “You turn me on like no man has ever done, Reid. Ever.” She kissed me again.
I was good with that.

From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a sexy, STANDALONE second-chance romance.
They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie.
Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?
So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.
At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.
Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy. I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more.
They didn’t know about our past.
He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.
As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.
I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart.
Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.
And soon I might be breaking all the rules.
Author's note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.
Penelope Ward is a New York Times, USA Today and #1 Wall Street Journal Bestselling author. She’s a fifteen-time New York Times bestseller of twelve novels.
Having grown up in Boston with five older brothers, she spent most of her twenties as a television news anchor, before switching to a more family-friendly career. She is the proud mother of a beautiful 12-year-old girl with autism and a 10-year-old boy. Penelope and her family reside in Rhode Island.
After years spent harboring a shameful secret, I finally felt...alive, reawakened and brave. Willing to break down my walls and let love in. Let him in.
We had conquered our pasts. The truth had set us free, and we were looking toward our future. Until a crazy twist of fate brought my worst nightmare back into my life.
The voice and soundtrack to every one of my haunting dreams now had a face. One he won't easily let me forget.
The hits Ben endured on the football field will be nothing compared to the devastating blow his heart will take if he finds out the whole truth. He knows the story, but he doesn't know the monster. Not like I do.
Just as the wounds of my past had begun to heal, he's come back to rip them wide open.
Maybe some things are better kept from those we love.
I park in front of the yellow duplex and double check the address. 336 Reynard St. Looks like the place. I step out of my beat-up Honda and smooth my hands down the front of my jeans. I’m nervous.
I’ve struggled for months to find a part-time job that would allow me the freedom to pursue my music. When Rosemarie suggested I teach piano, I took her idea and ran with it. She put an ad in the church bulletin, and I spent weeks studying ways to teach others.
I currently have three adult clients. They are older members of the church who have always wanted to learn. Today, I’ll be teaching my first child.
I grab my satchel from my backseat and make my way up the walk. My bag is filled with stickers and a few different workbooks for me to use, depending on how quickly she learns.
The woman on the phone mentioned the lessons were for her seven-year-old daughter.
I knock once and nervously push my shaggy hair out of my face.
“Coming,” says a lady’s voice from behind the door. A few seconds later, a woman in her late twenties opens the door. She smiles as a toddler perches on her hip and another one peeks out from between her legs.
“Amos?” she asks.
“Yes, that would be me,” I say smiling.
“Come in,” she says opening the screen door.
“Excuse the mess. These girls decided to pull out every Barbie they owned today.”
I step over the pile of dolls and walk over toward the antique looking piano. It’s a Baldwin.
“We had it tuned. It belonged to my grandmother. Rely is obsessed with it. Let me get her.” She leaves the room with the two little ones as I pull out the piano bench and take a seat. A noise from behind the couch pulls my attention. A pair of sparkling hazel eyes meets mine as they peek out from behind the armrest.
“Hello?” I say waving my hand.
She moves out of sight, and I smile.
“I’m your new piano teacher. Will you come out so we can meet?” I ask.
Her mother enters the room exasperated. “I don’t know where she’s hiding. I swear this girl is a pro at hide and seek.”
I chuckle and point behind the couch.
“Rely, come out and meet your new teacher.” Her mother seems to be pulling her from behind the couch. She reluctantly comes out, and as her sisters did earlier, she hides behind her mother’s legs.
“Rely, that’s a very pretty name. Your mom tells me you want to learn to play the piano. I’d love to teach you. Will you let me?” We wait a bit, and she doesn’t budge, so I try something else.
I face the piano and begin to play “Old McDonald.”
I look over my shoulder, and she hasn’t moved. “Itsy Bitsy Spider” is next and still nothing. In a last ditch effort, I try “Jingle Bells.” What kid doesn’t love Christmas songs?
Suddenly, she’s on the bench beside me, and we stare at each other a moment. She has a mass of chestnut hair, and her tiny red lips purse as she watches my fingers float across the keys.
“Can you teach me to play that?” she asks.
Little did I know how much more I’d be willing to do for her…

A new adult romance is her debut novel.
Falling for someone can be dangerous, especially when someone wants to take them away from you. But what happens when fighting for the one you love could cost them their life?
For over two years, Summer Jacobs has tried to get her life back on track. A former nurse and now a prestigious restaurant owner, she’s living the dream just like her husband wanted. After watching him get killed in the MMA ring and almost losing her life herself, it left a scar on her soul. The thought of moving on scares her, but the local NFL star, Evan Townsend, is determined to catch her heart.
Forced to work with him and the football team, Summer succumbs to his relentless attempts at capturing her heart. He has the power to heal her, but there’s someone out there who wants to keep them apart. Even if it means getting rid of Evan permanently. Summer is being chased by hidden dangers and it’s up to Evan to catch her. The question is . . . will he get to her in time?
Once out the door, I breathed a sigh of relief and slowed my pace. “Come on, Summer, stop acting like an idiot.”
“Talking to yourself now?” Evan teased from behind.
I stopped mid-step and closed my eyes. “Do you enjoy provoking me?”
When he circled around me, I opened my eyes. “Not really, but I do love seeing you blush. I didn’t realize I had that effect on you.”
“You seriously are full of yourself, aren’t you?” How could I be so stupid? There was no way in hell I could hide my face now. I didn’t want him to know how flustered he made me.
Chuckling, he shook his head and kept his gray eyes solely on mine. “I’m really not. I was just hoping to hear your laugh again. I guess I didn’t get enough of it yesterday.”
“So, this is you flirting with me? What do you expect to gain from that?”
He took a step closer and smiled. “For starters, I was hoping to persuade you to come to my party after the game Saturday night.”
My heart thumped wildly in my chest. I could feel the sweat pouring down my back. “Like what? A date?”
“Only if you want it to be. I just figured I’d save you the trouble of having to ward off my teammates. I can name three of the guys who are interested in you. My threats to stop their advances can only go so far.”
“What if I didn’t want to go to your party? I can easily just tell them I’m not interested.”
He nodded and crossed his arms over his chest. “You could, but that doesn’t mean shit to these guys. They’ll keep hounding you until you give in. They love the chase.”
“Just like you,” I retorted with a smile.
“What can I say? I’m relentless when I want something.” I sucked in a breath and bit my lip. Did he really want me like that? The thought made everything inside of me tighten. It was too dangerous to think of him like that.
“So are you trying to save me from your friends or are you really wanting me to join you? I know how you guys work, and I don’t want to be a part of some game you’re playing to get girls.”
His grin faded, gaze hard. “I don’t play games, Summer. I may have in the past, but I would never do that to you. Have I ever given you the impression that you can’t trust me?”
Sighing, I shook my head. I felt like such an idiot. “No, and I’m sorry for being presumptuous. It’s just . . .” I paused and bit down on the side of my cheek.
“It’s just what?” he asked in all seriousness.
“It’s just this is all new to me. All I’ve ever known is Austin. Being around you makes me nervous. I’m not like the girls you’ve brought into the restaurant. If it’s sex you want, you can forget it. I’m not one of your groupies.” For a second there, I thought he was at a loss for words, but then he belted out in laughter. Ouch, that hurt. “I’m glad I could amuse you.”
When he straightened up, he took off his hat and ran his hands through his hair. And again, my heart sped up at the sight. Shit. “Damn, you are a fiery one. And just so we’re clear, I’m not trying to fuck you or trying to put another notch in my belt. Believe it or not, I’m actually interested in something else.”
“What is that, exactly?”
“I don’t know, but I’m hoping you can help me figure it out.” Grabbing my hand, he pulled me toward his truck. “Let’s go.”
