Unable to tolerate his intrusion on her personal space any longer, she grabbed his wrist and pushed her will into him.

“Where is Ayanna?” she demanded with all the authority she could instill.

Joran closed his eyes and moaned. “Oh, now doesn’t that feel amazing! I am going to have so much fun with you.”

In one swift motion, he twisted his arm out of her grasp and grabbed both her wrists, holding them against the wall on either side of her head. And then something happened. Lust unlike anything she’d ever experienced seeped into her forearms and spread like venom through her veins, burning her to her core with desire.

“Kiss me,” Joran whispered.

A small voice in the back of her mind was screaming at her to fight, but every other part of her, body and mind, wanted nothing more than to obey him. She did as he asked, pressing her lips against his. When he pushed his hot tongue into her mouth, she opened it to welcome him, allowing him full access to whatever he wanted. Joran, she swooned inwardly.

His hands roamed across her body, pressing and grabbing. Her body responded heatedly to his touch, but something in her mind told her this was so very wrong. Shut up, voice, she said internally, swatting away those pesky thoughts that tried to keep her from enjoying this.

Joran broke the kiss and smiled down at her triumphantly. “Oh yes, we will have so much fun. I love having access to your powers. Ayanna might be my queen, but you will be a delightful toy.”

“Yes, I’m your toy,” she said mindlessly, desperate to please him.

“What the hell!” another familiar voice shouted from the doorway.

Irritated at the interruption, Phoenyx rolled her lusty eyes in that direction. When she saw Sebastian standing there, fuming with territorial rage, the spell she’d been under lifted. The pleasure she had taken in Joran’s large body pressed against hers now turned into disgust and violation, and she used all the physical strength she could muster to shove him away from her.

Joran seemed unphased by her rejection, smiling smugly at Sebastian.

“Ah, Water, welcome to the party,” Joran said. “I was just about to enjoy your mate. Would you like to join us?”

“Don’t you dare touch her,” Sebastian threatened in a dangerously low voice.

“Or what? You’ll splash some water at me?” Joran taunted.

Scared for Sebastian’s safety, Phoenyx pushed off from the wall and darted for him. When she reached him, the two of them fought to put themselves protectively in front of the other as they stared at Joran.

“Aww, isn’t that sweet,” Joran said. “But pointless. I have not come here to hurt you, my Bound Ones. I have merely come to extend an invitation. I am hosting a coronation ball tonight at Bodiam Castle to celebrate my return to the world, and I would like the four of you to attend. I know you are not yet ready to swear fealty to me, but I trust that in time, you will come to your senses. Consider this ball a temporary cease-fire.”

“Why should we come?” Sebastian snarled, wrapping Pheonyx in a possessive embrace.

“Because you want to see Ayanna,” Joran replied.

“What have you done with her?” Phoenyx barked, hating the taste of him that filled her mouth.

“If you want to know what has become of your friend, you will just have to come and see for yourselves,” Joran shrugged. “I don’t think you’ll recognize her, or is it that she won’t recognize you?”

He laughed sadistically and walked toward the door.

“I’ll see you tonight,” he said, slapping a hand on Sebastian’s shoulder fraternally as he passed and went out the door.

The two of them watched him as he went around the corner and the sound of his footsteps disappeared from earshot down the stairs. Now they were alone, and they were still hugging each other for dear life.

Phoenyx met Sebastian’s gaze, his blue eyes a storm of turmoil and conflict.

“I’m so sorry, Sebastian,” she pleaded, all the strength she had seconds again melting under Sebastian’s eyes. “He used my own compulsion against me. I had no choice—”

“I know,” he said, his expression stony, his jaw clenched. “I know.” He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her in a way that attempted to mark her as his. Then he rested his forehead on hers. “I hate him. He can take you away from me any time he wants.”

“No, he can’t,” she said, shaking her head fervently. “He can take my soul, and he can control my mind and body, but he can never take my heart, because you already have it. I will always be yours.”

“I love you,” he said.

Now it was her turn to mark him as hers. She kissed him just as hard, no tongue, no passion, just pure possession.

By the time we came up, the tub was full. Kate lit a few more candles and double-checked the lock on the bathroom window just as a stray twig snapped against the glass from outside. She jumped back with a fearful gasp.

“I’m going to chop that birch tree first thing in the morning,” I said.

“That scared the shit out of me.”

“I should have cut it down last year, but my father got sick, and plans changed.”

She walked over to the side of the tub. She tugged at the button on her jeans, and my gaze dropped to her fingers. I followed the downward path as she unfastened her zipper.

“You mean the ones after I blew up the Mafia’s warehouse and you were blamed?”

“What?” She brought my attention temporarily back to her eyes because now that she was shimmying her ass out of her jeans, wiggling that behind like a pro and slowly exposing her thighs, I couldn’t help but look down again. Her checkered shirt draped over her legs. My mouth watered and my dick hardened.

She waved her hand. “Never mind.” Her voice was sultry and full of lust.

“Sorry. I didn’t hear you.”

How did she expect me to give her a coherent answer when she was now in the middle of removing her bra from underneath the button-up shirt? One hand snaked inside her sleeve, caught the strap, and pulled it through; then she repeated the motion with the other strap until she could remove the bra through her collar.

That was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen in my life. Two naturally standing breasts curved underneath the shirt, and I wondered whether I could get any harder. As she stood there with nothing on but that shirt, I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. One day, once she healed and was ready, it would be my honor to give her the child and family she’d always wanted.

“It’s just that you’re making it a little difficult to concentrate. The past follows us, Kate, and we can’t escape it; but I can assure you that the only part of my past I love, is you.”

She bit her lip and then licked it.

“Kate, what are you doing?”

“I thought my intentions were clear when I took my pants off, but I guess they weren’t clear enough,” she teased, and hooked her fingers into her panties. She removed them in slow motion, and when they were at her ankles, flicked them away with the tip of her toe. They flew onto the counter by the sink, but Kate lost her balance and I caught her just before she fell back into the tub full of suds.

“Got ya.” I held her in my arms. One of her free breasts pressed against my chest and the other one against my arm, and I was sure I didn’t have enough patience to control the situation much longer. “And what may your intentions be?”

“To take a bubble bath?”

“You don’t seem to be sure about that.”

“Shut up and kiss me.”

I lowered my mouth to hers at the request. She was soft and tasted like the best fucking thing that had ever touched my lips. I cupped her face between my hands and pressed harder against her, savoring all the tiny noises and pleas that came out of her mouth. She not only tasted delicious but also smelled like a fond memory. It did something crazy in my head, something I couldn’t understand. I swept my tongue against hers, back and forth, all the while feeling my dick grow in my pants. The confinement of my clothes was becoming more uncomfortable by the minute. I clasped my lips around her upper one, sucking on it.

My Review:

Christmas at the Castle was such a great holiday read that will leave you wanting for more. From the beautiful cover to the intriguing synopsis, McClone delivers a perfect story just in time for Christmas. When Katrina “Kat” Parsons is sent to camp as a teen she never imagined just how her life was going to change after meeting two siblings who turned out to be royalty. Now years later, she is working as a veterinarian when she gets the call that her best friend (Sophie) is getting married and she wants Kat to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. After talking back and forth about the country where her friends are from, Kat is excited to finally get to see their home. But she knows that Sophie’s brother, Guillaume has never really liked her and staying away from him might just be good for the both of them. Kat wants to make sure that Sophie’s day does not get ruined and if she has to put up with people that do not like her she is going to do that for her best friend.

After being ignored by her parents growing up, Kat has had a rough time connecting to a family even though she was loved by her grandparents, it never really felt the same. It is when she found a best friend in Sophie that she felt like she gain a sister as well. That can’t be said for Sophie’s older brother Gill, as from the moment they met he put a distance between them and never really cared to make a connection with her. Now years later, they meet again in his home of Alistonia, a little European country who happens to be ruled by a monarchy. With the wedding approaching, Kat is on a mission to make her friend happy no matter what but things quickly changed the minute Gill starts to show feelings for her.

Crown Prince Guillaume has never really liked Kat or taken the time to get to know her. Her ways are too different from theirs and he thinks that she’ll be a bad influence on his sister. When he sees Kat entering his castle for the first time he immediately sees just how much she has changed and he is attracted to her. She still has the same attitude, but there is something about older Kat that he is drawn to and he doesn’t like it at all. He suddenly feels the need to put a distance between her and his sister, before she ruins the wedding. Yet, after spending time together that he starts to develop different feelings towards Kat that could be dangerous for both of them if he is not careful.

I loved this story, it had me reading non stop until the very end! I think a lot by now love a good royal romance and this one starts different and that’s what I liked about it the most. It’s evident that Kat and Gill don’t have the best relationship at the beginning and he does everything he can to make sure Kat doesn’t ruin his sister’s wedding. We get to learn more about Kat’s parents and why they left as well as why Gill is so uptight when it comes to his role in the family. He has been through a lot as well and when they’re together everything makes sense and they somehow fit together really well. Their interactions were nothing but sweet and you can see that Gill can be kind and caring, the perfect prince charming. I would highly recommend reading this story, it’s a great holiday read that will leave you swooning for the perfect prince charming especially after reading the ending! :)
