The Patron by Vivian Wood

Release Date: March 11th 2021
Pages: 280
Genres: Romance, Contemporary, Dark

Ballet takes everything from you.

All your sweat, all your tears, all your dedication, all your time.
There are no drunken nights, no drugs, no boyfriends, no distractions whatsoever.
But everyone has a dirty little secret...

Working as a stripper at Club Ecstasy at night is my dark indiscretion.
Sexy, mysterious billionaire Calum shows up as a patron at my club. He's drawn to my provocative innocence, not realizing that I am also a ballerina in his dance company. When I dance for him, he feels something stir in his cold, dead heart.

After Calum finds out my little deception, he should turn me in. After all, ballet requires sacrifice.

But to my surprise, he makes me an offer I can't refuse.
And now I am staring into his dark blue eyes as I dance for him privately. Trying desperately to remember rule number one of being an exotic dancer.

Don't fall for your customers.

My Review:

The Patron by Vivian Wood is not your typical billionaire romance, it’s dark, steamy and full of secrets to keep you at the edge of your seat until the very end. A promising start to the Broken Slipper Trilogy.

At the beginning of the story we get to meet, Kaia Walker, a ballerina attending classes at the prestigious New York Academy of Ballet. It has taken Kaia’s blood, sweat and tears to get to where she is and getting closer to her goal is what keeps her motivated to keep doing her best. It’s her last month there before officially auditioning for the New York Ballet. Yet, no matter how much she practices, doubts of not being good enough creep into her head, as well as all the expectations that she needs to meet for her dad and that won’t stop until she pays him back for putting her through the ballet academy.

She longs to be free from him and that has led her to work at a less prestigious job at night. No one knows about her job, it’s taboo for a ballerina like herself to work at a strip club, but that’s all she can do to make the amount of money that she needs right away. Until a mysterious billionaire requests a private dance, one that keeps him coming back to her that changes her life forever. He wants to be her patron, to have her at his beck-and-call until she discovers that he is part of the New York Ballet and that he can ruin her career for good. Instead, Calum makes her an offer she can’t refuse and as she learns what’s beneath the facade that he keeps, it makes her want to fix the broken billionaire that she is developing feelings for.

As the CEO of Indica Teach, Calum Fordham has made a considerable amount of money with his tech company. At twenty-nine, he is an ambitious billionaire who is driven by his work, yet he is a dancer at heart. Having being part of the New York Ballet, he knows how to be the best, even though an injury cut his career short. Calum has been through so much growing up and it’s the anger that he has in him that has driven him through life. It’s also the very same anger that has made him unable to be in relationships and that’s how he ends up at Club X. He never expected to meet someone like Kaia there, innocent and with captivating ballerina moves that have him wanting to know more about her. He wants to make her his no matter what. It’s when a turn of events take them by surprise that he has to make a choice, whether to keep Kaia or let her go for good.

I enjoyed The Patron, it’s such a page turner and full of twists. We have two broken individuals brought together by the one thing that brings them life. They have such a great chemistry right from the start and it just keeps evolving the more they get to know each other. There are so many shocking moments and the cliffhanger at the end has me anxiously wanting to read the next book in the trilogy. I would highly recommend this book if you love forbidden romances with ballet in the mix. :)

**I received an advanced copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.**

My Rating:

About the Author:

Vivian likes to write about troubled, deeply flawed alpha males and the fiery, kick-ass women who bring them to their knees.

Vivian's lasting motto in romance is a quote from a favorite song: "Soulmates never die."
