πŸ”– REVIEW BLITZ πŸ”– Serendipity by Carly Phillips

Serendipity by Carly Phillips

Release Date: February 3, 2023
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

He’s from the wrong side of the tracks. She lived in the house on the hill.

Now their fortunes have reversed…but their long-ago attraction still burns.

From high school golden girl to wife of a high-powered New York attorney, Faith Harrington lived the dream. Until divorce and her father’s imprisonment for fraud left her with almost nothing. Now she's back in her hometown to redesign her life, and not every face is friendly. Least of all the town rebel, whose memory lingered long after they shared one searing teenage kiss.

Ethan Barron is a bad boy. Was. Was a bad boy. Now a man—a very rich man—he quietly buys the old Harrington mansion to thumb his nose at Serendipity and the people who looked down on him. But until he reconciles with his brothers and builds a life, the victory rings hollow.

Faith had been a rich girl ripe for rebellion, and his shamelessly stolen kiss still burns in his dreams. Only a fool would risk feeding town gossip by asking her to redecorate the house she grew up in. But Ethan never did choose easy. Not when the hard way promises a much sweeter—and hotter—reward.

Note: Serendipity is book one of a previously published series by NYT Bestselling Author Carly Phillips. Contains a tarnished golden girl, a bad boy in search of redemption, a brother whose first order of business is to ticket his big bro’s Jag, and a town that runs on nosiness.

My Review:

As the first book in the Serendipity Series, Phillips delivers a second chance romance and new beginnings in Serendipity. This small town romance revolves around two individuals who have come home for start fresh, only to be faced with the past which brings them together at the end.

For Ethan Barron, returning to his childhood home of Serendipity, New York after a decade means that he is ready to face the past. As the owner of a weapons software development company, Ethan has found success doing something that he loves to do. It’s the same success that has brought him wealth and he is ready to put it to good use. By purchasing the most ornate house on the hill, he is showing that someone like him could also own the very same house that was once occupied by the Harringtons. A privileged family who fell from grace and their respected name holds no influence over the town. But no matter how much success Ethan has, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t have his brothers back in his life again. While he tries to build a relationship with his siblings, there is a woman Ethan can’t stop thinking about after seeing her outside his house. It’s been a while since he’s seen Faith Harrington and there is something about her that he can’t let go. He is set on winning her back again, only to have life throw him an unexpected twist of events that could change his life forever.

Faith Harrington never expected to go back to her childhood home, especially after the big scandal that changed her life. Her dad took advantage of people and her presence is no longer welcoming in Serendipity. So while she is trying to get the town’s trust back, she is ready to open her interior design business. Little did she know that her teenage crush would end up being her first client, to redecorate her old childhood home that doesn’t belong to her family anymore. At first, Faith is skeptical with Ethan’s proposition, but the more time they spend together the more she starts to see it differently. Faith truly wants to let go of the past and she knows that to do that, she needs to show everyone that she is not her dad. She has had her own obstacles to overcome and maybe a second chance with Ethan might just be what she needs.

I really enjoyed reading Serendipity, it’s evident from the very beginning that both of the characters still have feelings for each other. Yet, they are trying to overcome the past and start fresh in Serendipity. Faith might have grown up in a privileged home, but she quickly learns that she needs to show everyone in town that she can be herself. Her family name has been tainted by the crimes her father committed and she has to find strength to make a new name for herself. On the other hand, Ethan’s goal is to get his family back. After leaving his brother’s behind, they’ve grown to resent him and he is ready to prove that he’s a changed man ready to be there for his family no matter what. It’s clear that family dynamics is the theme in the story and they are able to lean on each other to overcome obstacles coming their way. I would recommend checking out the story as well as any other books by the author!
