Heired Lines by Magan Vernon

Release Date: May 11th 2020 by Entangled: Embrace
Pages: 150
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Sometimes, you’ve got to take a job with the devil to pay the bills...

Too bad I learned too late the devil wears Armani, is the most uptight man in the history of history, and I just signed an unbreakable contract shackling me to his pompous royal side for the summer.

But God, he’s got this British accent that makes my panties melt.

Until the words he says catch up with my brain and make me want to throw one of his precious vases at his head.

One minute we’re fighting—and the next—we can't keep our hands off each other. Because somehow, when Mr. Blue Eyes is kissing me, he makes me forget how much he annoys me.

And that starts a whole new level of complications I. Don’t. Need.

Cuz if you dance with the devil, someone’s gonna end up getting burned…

My Review:

With a masters’s in history, there is no denying that Natalie Reeder loves history. It is with her knowledge that she is able to spot items that might be valuable and that’s exactly what she finds at a flea market. When Natalie posts the item up for sale on eBay, she quickly gets an email from a rather pushy person wanting to know more about the item and her qualifications. This would lead to them exchanging emails and to her surprise he offers her a job. A temporary summer position as his curator to help clean out his family’s estate in Webley, England.

If there is something that she has always wanted to do is to personally experience all the history that she has been studying for so long. So she takes the leap of faith she has been dying to do and accepts. Little did she know that by working for Gavin Webley would her life forever.

I enjoyed the overall concept of the story, it was interesting and the chemistry between the characters was off the charts. It’s clear from the very beginning that their is a sexual chemistry between them, but Natalie has to remind herself that she works for Gavin and there can’t be anything else between them. As the two start to get to know more about each other and about his family’s history, there are obstacles that they both must conquer if they truly want a future together. I found myself liking Gavin, he is kind and protective over Natalie. On the other hand, Natalie has caring and smart personality. The town itself was interesting and how it’s important to Gavin’s family. I do wish the author could have added more details towards the end of the story, it felt a bit rushed for me. All in all, if you love a quick romance with some royal history involved than I would highly recommend checking out Heired Lines.

Meet Magan Vernon:

Magan Vernon has been living off of reader tears since she wrote her first short story in 2004. She now spends her time killing off fictional characters, pretending to plot while she really just watches Netflix, and she tries to do this all while her two young children run amok around her Texas ranch.

Cheeky by Natasha Madison

Release Date: June 6th 2017 by Natasha Madison
Genres: Romance, Novella

Bradley Fitch has it all. A suave job, a gigantic trust fund, and an accent that makes panties drop faster than the speed of light. His new life in New York City is fast-paced and furious, but it's nothing a little getaway can't cure.

What says party and unwind like Las Vegas? Nothing. Plus, whatever happens there has to stay there.
When his best friend bails, he finds himself sitting on the plane next to his best friend's sister.

She’s off-limits—proverbial caution tape wrapped around her body. Of course, she’s also totally ball busting gorgeous.

Lexi Quinn fell in love with Bradley at eight years old and then vowed to kill him at eight and a half. What was supposed to be a romantic week away is turning into a nightmare. Her ex is actually married, her luggage is lost, and her reservation is cancelled. And she's sitting next to the man she swore to hate forever

One week. No strings attached. What is the worst that could happen?

It's all fun and games till this British bad boy gives new meaning to BBC and becomes a little bit too cheeky.

My Review:

Cheeky completely sucked me in, from the cover to the synopsis, the author did a good job executing this novella really well. For Lexi Quinn the trip to Las Vegas was supposed to be a trip to recharge and think about her next step in her life. After breaking up with her ex, she decides to get away only to stumble upon her brother's best friend, Bradley Fitch. He is not only more handsome than ever and his charm is definitely not something that she wants to be around after wanting to move on from her ex. Now she finds herself at the airport with a luggage lost and hotel reservation canceled. What Bradley proposes will test their friendship and their attraction towards each other if they give in to what they have been feeling for each other since they met as kids. Will their week in Vegas ruined their friendship after agreeing to a no-strings-attached relationship?

Without giving too much away (since this is a novella), the revolves around these two characters whose personalities are completely opposite, yet they compliment each other very well. Bradley is your typical male character who has a charming personality as well as the wealth to do/get whatever he wants. His new life in New York has been fast-paced, and when he gets the time get away he does so by going to Vegas. He wasn't expecting to come across Lexi, but it's his time to charm her and he will not stop at nothing until he makes her his. Though the story was short, it was filled with steamy scenes and hilarious moments that had me reading non stop. I would highly recommend reading this book, the ending will definitely leave you wanting for more. ;)

FAMED by Magan Vernon

Release Date: June 6th 2017
Pages: 100
Genres: Romance, Novella

Imperfect Love features strong alpha heroes who get knocked sideways when they suddenly begin noticing the heroine in a whole new light. Sexy, sweet, and laugh-out-loud funny, the Imperfect Love series is all about exploring romance tropes like friends to lovers, fake fiance, arranged marriage, surprise pregnancy, budding office romances, and more, that all share one fabulous thing in common: they all end in a happily ever after.

On the heels of Mary James leaked sex tape - totally a fake one to make her boyfriend jealous she might add- she needs some PR help if she ever wants her acting career to end up in a fiery hell like her love life.

Chris Garcia has been working his way up from mailroom clerk to junior associate at Tate & Cane and now to get to the next rung of the corporate ladder he has to take on the firm's toughest client: Mary James.

With a little help from a nosey Aunt Rosita and Mama Garcia, the two decide the best way to move forward is simple: a fake relationship.

But what happens when something fake gets to be too real and FAME gets involved?

My Review:

Not having read any other works by Magan Vernon before, I was really impressed with FAMED. As part of Kendall Ryan's Imperfect Love series we get to meet other characters that are from the same world as Ryan's Hitched series. In this particular story we get to meet Mary James, an actress whose career has been put on hold while she gets help in the PR department. After her “sex tape” gets leaked, her career has been affected very deeply. She wants to get back to her job, but no one is willing to cast her and getting a PR specialist would help her life get back on track. When her manager set her up with a PR company, Chris Garcia is there to help her out, but the more time they spend with each other the more intense their relationship gets. She knows that faking a relationship with him is only temporary, but after he invites her to his world, she suddenly finds herself surrounded by a warm family who will support her no matter what. When the truth gets harder to accept they'll have to decide if their relationship is worth taking a risk on in the end.

I loved Chris's family in FAMED, they are your classic Mexican family who are warm and loud. They all embrace each other and their community, and that exactly what Mary sees and appreciates. She longs to make a difference and if her money can help other, she is willing to help those in need. Fame is not for everyone, but acting is what Mary does best, and she is not going to let a sex tape that was supposed to make to make her ex jealous ruin her reputation. On the other hand, Chris is not only good looking but he also happens to know what attracts people and his only following shows that. He is every girl's dream with his kindness towards others and looks. He also happens to make the story sexy and steamy. Their scenes together are sizzling with chemistry and the ending will leave you wanting for more. I would highly recommend reading this book, you will not regret it. ;)

One-Night Stand-In by T. Gephart

Release Date: June 6th 2017
Genres: Romance, Novella

Sarah Madison loved working at Tate & Cane Enterprises.

While she looked and, for the most part, acted conservatively—she was a gladiator in the boardroom. The fast-paced, energetic work environment not only fed her need for corporate blood but also allowed her to work for one of her role models, Olivia Cane—living proof a woman really can have it all.

And after months of paying her dues, she was finally offered the promotion she’d been vying for. Which was great, except for the fact she had to share the position with a new guy they brought in especially for the role.

Kyle Drake was smart, experienced, and probably just as good, if not better, in negotiations. And if she wasn’t careful, prove he could do the job without her. Add in good-looking and an incredibly sexy smooth talker, and everyone in the office either wanted to be him or sleep with him. Which Sarah could have totally ignored if he hadn’t been the stranger she’d married in Vegas during a fake ceremony six months earlier.

He was supposed to be her one-night stand, a stand-in for a ceremony that wasn’t even legally binding. They were never even going to see each other again. Hell, she apparently hadn’t even known his real last name at the time. It was the only time she’d ever done something completely reckless and spontaneous.

It figured that one time would come back and bite her where it hurt.

My Review:

This book had me at the edge of my seat! From the sexy cover to the intriguing synopsis, One- Night Stand- In had me hooked from the very start. In the story we are introduced to Sarah Madison, after working for Tate & Cane Enterprises she is ready to make the next step in her career and after seeking the promotion that she wanted, she is surprised to hear that she only gets half of it. She will work along side another guy whose experience exceeds her, but that will ultimately teach her how to be a better negotiator. The minute she finds out who the other guy is things immediately change for her, but who would have thought that he stand-in husband was going to working with her in the end? It had all happened really quickly, but after meeting in Vegas, Sarah and Kyle decided to marry each other. The only thing is that is was all fake, but Kyle seems to be thinking differently and Sarah doesn't like that all. Now she has promised herself that she would do anything to make Kyle leave the company and back to his old place, but the more time she spends with him, the harder it gets for them to keep their hands to themselves. Their chemistry is instantaneous from the very beginning, and Kyle would stop at nothing until he gets her to see that their relationship can truly work out in the end.

I loved reading One- Night Stand- In, there were witty moments and steamy scenes that had me reading non stop. Both of the characters have strong personalities and know what they want. It was fun reading their little arguments and how they solved things together. The ending was sweet, and I will most definitely be reading more from the author in the future. :)

Unsupervised by Cora Kenborn

Release Date: June 6th 2017
Genres: Romance, Novella

Niall

I have twenty-eight days to find the perfect wife…

On paper, it seems like I need a life coach, but I’ve managed to get a decent grip on the single-dad thing. As a sought-after photographer with a sexy Irish accent, I have no problem attracting women. Especially crazy ones who can’t take no for an answer. But now, I’m backed in a corner, and both mine and my daughter’s futures are being threatened.
The plan is simple: find a fake fiancée, introduce her at my company’s gala, and save my job. A chance meeting with a tall, leggy blonde who looks like she could use a night out is the perfect solution. Beautiful, sane, and she has a kid? We have a winner.
The relationship is a ruse, but I didn’t count on her being unforgettable. A lie brought us together, but now I have no intention of letting her go.

Laken

I can’t buy my way onto Madison Avenue…

I didn’t bust my ass in college to be a nanny. Unfortunately, a 4.0 GPA and sucking up did nothing to secure me a coveted Tate & Cane internship. I’m not proud of being a nanny-for-hire to get my foot in the door, but my wealthy employer has connections, so I do what I need to—until one outrageous proposal changes everything.
In one afternoon, I find myself fake engaged with a fake new family. I’m not a liar, but he assumes the kid is mine. I should set the record straight. There’s only one problem. My new “fiancé” is a photographer for Tate & Cane. He’s my “in.”
If I can hold on to this charade long enough, I can get the job and the man of my dreams. I’m winging this completely unsupervised. Game on.

My Review:

Not having read any other works by Cora Kenborn before, I was really impressed with the overall story and well was executed. In the story we get to meet Niall, a photographer whose career gets threatened when he refuses to do sleep with one of his bosses. He knows that his looks could get him any women that he would like, but some are crazier than others, and he happened to meet the craziest of them all. Now he has to find fake fiancee and introduce her at the company's gala to save his job. After working really hard to establish himself in the company, Niall is not about to mess with his future or that of his daughter. As a single dad he has tried to be there for his daughter, but his career is also important to him and it has been a struggle to maintain that balance. When he meets Laken at a park, he is immediately taken by her and of the little boy that he assumed was her son. After he finds out that she is looking to get an internship at Tate & Cane, the company that he works for, he proposes a friendly exchange. He would help her get the internship that she wants in exchange for her to fake to be his fiancee. What they weren't expecting was to feel so much chemistry towards each other that would ultimately cause so much trouble in the end. They knew that it wasn't going to last, but Niall is not about to give her up.

Unsupervised was a very entertaining read, it's evident from the start that the characters have an undeniable chemistry. It is through a series of events that it will ultimately get tested to see if they truly want to be with each other in the end. Niall is not only handsome, but his accent would literally leave you swooning for him until the end. Laken is a bit sassy and smart, she know what she wants and goes after it, but her internship with Tate & Cane is getting difficult to get. Her only way to step inside and meet the people that she needs to meet is by being Niall's fake fiancee and she will stop at nothing until she gets the job. When secrets start to resurface, they'll have to decide if fighting for each other is work it after all. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, it was quick and filled with romance that will leave you wanting for more. ;)

Starfire Angels

by
They've been coming here for thousands of years, using Earth as a sanctuary to escape threats from their own kind. Mankind knows them as angels, and one of them left a child upon her death to be raised as a human.

Raea is now a high school senior and her life as a human is about to end. The crystal shard she bears is not a pretty pendant; it's a collective of powerful entities who chose her as their Keeper, a protector of one of the four shards that power a machine capable of destroying whole worlds. Those who desire the Starfire's power have sent an agent to find her, but she's too busy evading a nosy reporter ready to exploit her secret and dating a hot new foreign student to notice. Nevermind learning what she really is.

Only one person on Earth can help her, the last person she ever expected. But he's not from Earth. Life as a human would be so much easier.

Clockwise

by
Casey Donovan has issues: hair, height and uncontrollable trips to the 19th century! And now this --she’s accidentally taken Nate Mackenzie, the cutest boy in the school, back in time. Awkward.

Protocol pressures her to tell their 1860 hosts that he is her brother and when Casey finds she has a handsome, wealthy (and unwanted) suitor, something changes in Nate. Are those romantic sparks or is it just “brotherly” protectiveness?

When they return to the present, things go back to the way they were before: Casey parked on the bottom of the rung of the social ladder and Nate perched high on the very the top. Except this time her heart is broken. Plus, her best friend is mad, her parents are split up, and her younger brother gets escorted home by the police. The only thing that could make life worse is if, by some strange twist of fate, she took Nate back to the past again.

Which of course, she does.
