We shared one hot night together back in college before our paths took us in different directions.
But now, the most brilliant and beautiful woman I’ve ever met is back in my life. And the chemistry I remember? It’s more combustible than ever.
Except…our fling is forbidden and must exist only in secret. Her rules, not mine.
I can’t be her forever. I’m not that guy, and even she knows it.
But I can’t stay away from her either. I’m determined to claim not just her body but her heart, even if that’s the one thing she’s vowed not to give me.

My Review:
At the beginning of the story we get to meet, Eden Wynn, a university student at Sutton, a small Boston University. Eden’s conservative upbringing completely changed the minute she started at Sutton, she suddenly wanted to do something reckless and she picked just the prefect guy to do it with. But when things don’t go the way she expected them, she bumps into Holt Rossi. He keeps to himself and they’ve had classes together, but they’ve never been friends. It’s that night that they immediately click and she gets to know him more. Eden starts to question her previous plans when she has someone like Holt right in front of her. He understands her and she gets scared. So scared that she leaves him and doesn’t see him again for the next six years.
Now she has the most important role in her life, owner of The Boston Titans, a role her grandfather passed down to her. As the youngest owner, she struggles to gain the team’s trust and it is after receiving multiple threats from fans that she is not capable of running the hockey team, Eden is advised to have a personal security with her at all times. Little did she know that her new security guard was going to be non other than Holt Rossi. He is still as attractive and kind to her even after all those years that they haven’t seen each other. But her job is important and she doesn’t have time to reignite what they once had. Yet, the more time she spends with him, the more she second guesses what she truly wants.
Holt Rossi has been through a lot over the years, having worked hard to do well in his life compared to the rest of his family. He knows about hard work and he was glad to end up at Sutton as a scholarship student. Holt was shocked when he bumped into Eden and they got to share a kiss all those years ago. They come from different world, she grew up in a rich family and he grew up in a working-class family who wasn’t always there for him. They’ve both experienced a lot of bad memories with their family and that’s what brings them together. So he is shocked when he doesn’t see again and even more shocked when he finds out that it’s Eden who is going to be his boss. He vows to protect her no matter what, but he still has feelings for her and he is willing to do anything for her see that they might just belong together.
Compared to other Ryan’s works, I felt that The Rebel was a lighter read. There wasn’t a huge conflict in the story, mainly just about the characters seeing each other again after six years. They are at different places in their lives, they are able to see just much chemistry they still have and how their feelings are undeniable. Holt is sweet, overprotective and swoon worthy. He truly cares about Eden and it shows throughout the book. Eden might look powerful on the outside, but she is scared about making the wrong decisions for the team. She wants to make her grandfather proud and having Holt close to her puts her at ease. I liked the ending, it makes a nice transition for the next book in the series. I cannot wait to read The Rival next, would highly recommend checking out The Rebel first. :)
