Last Resort by Amelia Wilde

Release Date: March 22nd 2022
Genres: Dark, Romance, Contemporary

Emerson LeBlanc lost more than an acquisition. He lost the woman he loves.

There’s no redemption for a man with his past. No future for a relationship built on stalking and kidnapping. At least that’s what he believes. When he meets Daphne again, she’s not a piece of art. She’s a woman determined to paint a new path. For herself. For him. Except the ocean holds more than shadows. It holds danger that could ruin them both.

PRAISE FOR THE COLLECTOR TRILOGY:

My Review:

Wilde concludes The Collector Trilogy with a captivating, page-turning and explosive romance in Last Resort. A must-read trilogy!

It’s an unexpected turn of events that forces Daphne Morelli to part ways with the enigmatic art collector, Emerson LeBlanc. After he kidnaps her to add her to his personal collection, it becomes Daphne’s goal to escape at any rate. However, things quickly begin to change as she starts to see a different side to Emerson that only she can relate to. Emerson’s world has turned a different color when he is with Daphne. Yet, no matter how hard he wants her to find someone better for her. It becomes clear that Daphne is not about to let him walk away. But just as they are about to give themselves a chance at a forever, someone closer to Emerson threatens to separate them again. This time Emerson is ready to give whatever it takes to get back the love of his life, before it’s too late.

I truly enjoyed reading Last Resort! The book itself felt stronger than the last two books, where we were slowly getting to know the characters and their intentions. Now the story felt a lot less dark, there is more action and sweeter moments between Daphne and Emerson. There is also a lot more depth in the story as we get to find out more about their families as well and how they might be just similar in a lot of ways. Daphne’s view of her dad changes and there is finally an understanding between at the end. The ending was everything! It worked really well in the story and with the characters. It was a sweet ending and I couldn’t recommend this book enough. :)

A thief. A vamp. A walk on the wild side.

Cressa Langtry escaped an abusive home to live on her own terms. Now she’s known as Pandora, the best cat burglar and safecracker on the West Coast. Hounded by bounty hunters, one successful job would go a long way in clearing what she owes.

With an unfortunate twist of fate, Cressa’s debt is turned over to the city’s most notorious and ancient vampire – Devon Trelane. Complete one mission and she can leave the vampire world, and his home, free and clear.

Devon has lived a long life—many of them excommunicated from the Vampire Council. Though still a successful businessman, he can’t forgive the one vampire that cost him his seat on the Council.

Unrest builds between the vampires and shifters, discontent that could be avoided if the Council would see reason. One vampire stokes the fires of division, the one who forced Devon from the Council through lies and deception. The one person who holds the secrets that could return Devon to a seat of power and stop the war that threatens.

Luckily, a thief has fallen into Devon’s lap. A woman with the skills he requires to take down his greatest enemy.

There’s only one hitch—a simple business arrangement is complicated when their dreams collide and engulf them in passion.

THIS IS A CONTINUING slow-burn romance series.

{EXCERPT}

“This particular job will put you in the heart of vampire society. High society. You’ll be mingling with the city’s most respected and most dangerous vampires. To fit in, you’ll need to have a particular look with discerning tastes. And you’ll need to eat what vampires eat.”

I sat back, the grease of my breakfast threatening to revolt.

He laughed. “I’m not asking you to drink blood wine. But I do expect you to eat nutritious, organic meals. Besides excellent hearing, we have a unique sense of smell.” He tapped his nose. “We can smell someone’s blood when they get close. We can tell its purity and the contents of their last meal. For example, if I were to meet with you in two hours, I’d know you had garlic and onion in your meal. It wouldn’t stop me from drinking your blood if I had a mind, but that very scent would tell another vampire that you probably don’t belong to anyone. I’m far too old to worry about having to drink very often, so I don’t keep humans in the house. But younger vampires require a drink more frequently. Even those a century old still keep humans close for feeding.” He shrugged. “They don’t need to; they just prefer the old ways.” He shook his head as if he found that disgusting. Perhaps just uncouth. Either way, it made me feel a little better. I shouldn’t have to worry about him sneaking into my room in the middle of the night looking for a sip. I reflexively rubbed my neck.

He glanced down when his phone vibrated. His jaw clenched, and he held his cup so tightly, I thought it would shatter. Not good news. After a couple long minutes, he took a deep breath and turned to me, returning to our conversation as if never reading his message.

“My point is, where we’ll be going, you’ll need to not only act the part but smell the part as well. Otherwise, no one will believe why you’re with me.”

He stood. “I’m afraid I have something to attend to. Anna will start your training this morning. I should be back this evening for our session. A couple of rules for your stay here. You have the freedom of the yard, garden, and anywhere in the house on the first and second floors. The third floor is completely off-limits. Any questions before I leave?”

I had a dozen, but it was obvious I wouldn’t have his full attention. And I preferred trying to get answers from Anna. “Just one.”

He tucked the phone in his pocket then gave me his undivided attention.

“What am I being trained for?”

He gave me a slow perusal, and this time, it was more heated. The desire to squirm returned. Then, he gave me that million-dollar smile. “To be my human lover, of course.”

๐Ÿ”– REVIEW BLITZ ๐Ÿ”– Wright that Got Away by K.A. Linde

Wright that Got Away by K.A. Linde

Release Date: March 22nd 2022 by K.A. Linde Inc.
Series: Wright #11
Pages: 368
Genres: Romance, Contemporary

A sexy second chance rockstar romance set in the world of the Wrights about Campbell & Blaire from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

Campbell Abbey is the lead singer of the biggest band in the universe right now.

He’s also the boy I fell in love with in high school when no one knew my name.

Now, I have a million followers, teach girls every day how to love themselves and get over that boy that wronged them.

If only I could take my own advice…and not still pine for the Wright that got away

My Review:

What happens when the number one song in the world is about you? K.A. Linde is back with her eleventh book in the Wright Series with the Wright that Got Away. This incredibly emotional and steamy second chance rockstar romance that will leave you rooting for the characters until the very end.

It’s one thing for Blaire’s friends to fan over the lead singer of the band Cosmere and it’s another for them to go wild for the song, “I See the Real You.” What they don’t know is that Campbell Abbey wrote that song abut her and now is the most popular song around. Yet, no matter how much Blaire tries to avoid the song, it keeps following her around just like the memories of them in high school still haunt her until this day. She was in love with Campbell before he broke her heart and left in order to pursue his dreams not knowing what he was leaving behind.

It’s eight years later and Blaire has done well for herself. As the face behind a popular wellness blog, Blaire Blush, Blaire has being able to gain a big following by sharing relationship advice, body positivity and by helping girls love themselves. As an influencer, it’s important to be on top of what’s trending and soon dancing with Campbell’s popular song is what everyone expects her to do. Blaire refuses at first, until she sees that Campbell is back in town and wants to see her. It would take for them to make a video together to go viral for her to be thrust into his world yet again. This time there are different expectations until her new past becomes public that could damage a shot at a future together.

For Campbell Abbey being the lead singer of one of the most popular bands around comes with its own ups and downs. He has the fame, looks and wealth to attract any woman he could possibly want. But no matter how long it’s been since he was with Blaire, Campbell still can’t erase her from his mind. His most popular songs are about her and what they once shared back in high school. It’s been a while since he has been back to his hometown of Lubbock, Texas and Campbell is ready to reconnect with his family and friends again.

Yet, his record label wants him back in LA to start working on his next album. After the not so great critical reviews on his last album, Campbell needs inspiration again and he is given a month to start working on new material. Seeing Blaire again would soon change that and when creativity strikes, he isn’t sure how she is going to react to him writing a new song about her. Campbell is ready to show that he has changed and will not give up until Blaire is his again.

There is so much that happens in the story that I absolutely loved! The amount of sizzling chemistry between the characters from page one is what ultimately keeps bringing them together no matter how much Blaire tries to stay away from Campbell. He is proud of what Blaire has been able to accomplish as well. But with Blaire being an influencer on social media, she quickly realizes just how far Campbell’s fans can get to dig for information on her private life. His celebrity life is a lot bigger than she imagined it would be and that puts a lot of pressure on them right away. Although this story can be read as a standalone, it was nice to see characters from previous books in the series make appearances as well. There is a bit of action, unexpected twists and lots of tender scenes between them. The ending was sweet and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I would highly recommend adding the Wright that Got Away to your TBR list. :D
