My Review:
As the lead singer of the country rock band, Carolina George, Emily Ramsey has her hands full. The band is about to have its big break and that also means more responsibility for give her while on tour. But there is something holding her back, preventing her from signing in with a big record label that would change their lives forever. It would take meeting a mysterious stranger to give her some of the hope that she needs to be herself again. But the minute she finds out who he really is the next morning, Emily has to put her band first no matter how much chemistry she has with Royce Reilly. Yet, the more they get to know each other, the more she wants him to be her no matter the consequences of being together.
No matter how much success Royce Reilly has, he has one thing in mind and that is to get revenge against those that have hurt in the past. When he is given an opportunity to sign an up-and-coming band, he jumps at the chance without realizing that the lead singer would steal his heart. He knows that they shouldn’t be together, but Emily has brought him hope and he is not about to let her go that easily. As the two go through ups and downs, they will have to decide if their broken souls can fix one another before it’s too late.
A.L. Jackson has a way of telling stories that I love, they are full of emotions and relatable characters. There is no denying the explosive instant chemistry between Emily and Royce in the book, they both face a lot of obstacles and they are more connected to each other than they think. While they story is steamy and incredibly romantic, I found myself a bit confused with the set up of the story as a whole. It was as if I was missing information at the beginning until to fully getting it at the end of the book. I do wish the author could have elaborated on some scenes as well, it would have the made the story a lot better. I loved the secondary characters, they brought fun to the story and the ending will melt your heart. All in all, the book was full of twists that you don’t see coming and will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. I would still recommend it and I cannot wait to read what happens next in the series. :)
